The Constantinople-Istanbul name swap is actually a kinda funny story. It was Constantinople for almost its entire existence, even after the Muslims captured it. Up until the Ottoman empire in the late 1800s was like "Everyone calls Constantinople by this weird other name let's just make it official." That other name was "Stanboli"(or something close to that) which just meant "the city" in another language (I think it was Greek). It wasn't some anti-christian conspiracy, it's not racist to still call it Constantinople, it was just a beaurocratic change.
