My childhood copy of Watership Down ended up needing to be held together with elastic bands, and was kept in a ziplock bag. Every page was pretty much its own entity, and I'd read it like that. Alas, it was recycled when my father bought me a new, replacement copy -- but I still remember the old one I carried with me faithfully at school, every day from around 1989 to 1996.

My Order of the Phoenix book was in extremely good condition until it entered my bag in elementary school. I was reading it outside and my friend grabbed it from me and threw it into a puddle. the first five pages (including the cover) were torn off and the next fifteen were illegible. I hated my friend for a week after that. During that week, he threw it in a puddle a second time. And my Dune copy was in the family for MANY years, it's the second most damaged.

The "repugnant edition of Harry Potter" is considered a classic here in Spain xD It's SO UGLY that is the only vestige of that collection of books published by Salamandra in the 90s. All the rest of the books (from other authors) are just available at public libraries and particular homes. But the HP...yeah, we ended up considered them charming and nostalgic. Anyway, around 2013 the same editorial released a paperback new Harry Potter collection with much more appealing covers with decent artwork. They somehow redeemed themselves. Aaaand the 90s covers are still on every bookshop of the country. Hardcover and paperback and even pocket editions. Charming, as I said. xD

Unlike the Harry Potter one in the video, it actually has a nice cover. After so many years of abuse, I report that the bottom right corner of the cover is torn so much it just says “J.K Row” followed by only the top portion of the L surviving, followed by MANY creases on the front and back of the book, the spine is in bad shape with the top and bottom corners torn, and the edges of the book awful. It is now the worst looking book on my shelf because of this but I refuse to get rid of it because of sentimental value

I had a origional copy of the Princess and the Goblins. A friend's girlfriend asked if she could borrow it. "Sure" the fool living in my soul said. After six months. I asked for the book back. After another six months of being lied to, I got dressed early on Sunday morning, and called for the last time. I said, "I'm coming over. Have my book ready for me." She screamed on the phone, " I threw your stupid book in the back yard when you first asked for it." Then she slammed hung up on me. A minute later my friend called. He said, "I'm sorry. I didn't know she did that. I've been trying to get her out my house for month. I drive over in a raging bad mood. I get to my friend's home, and his now ex girl friend is standing on the front porch in shorts and a bath robe. She screaming something I can't hear. I slam on my brakes, and my car slides sideways threw eighteen inches of snow. I stop just before I hit the porch. I open my car door, and my friend's ex is holding a phone, recording me. She screams, "You are going to jail." I jump over my car, and sceam, "WHERE IS MY GOD DAMN BOOK?" She runs right out of Crocks, and starts banging on the door, to be let in. I guess my friend locked his front door. I jump from the top of my car, and land of the porch with boom. She has her phone right on me. I walk right up to her, and scream, "WHERE IS MY BOOK?" I grabbed her phone, and threw it as far as I could. She ran for, but she was bare foot, and ran for if in the deep snow. I caught up to her, and she kept saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I calmly said, "Where is my book." She wanted to get dressed, but I made her dig the book out the snow. Liar, liar, pants on fire. No. I just went over, and dug the book out of the back yard. She had ripped it half, and it had water damage. Two weeks later, my friend had his father drain the water out the pipes of his home. He truned off the heat, and electricity. She moved out, and found some else to torture. The sad fact of reality is, horrible people survive by exploiting the better nature of people. Maybe I'll send the book to Daniel. He can have it rebound when he is rich and famous.
