Your closing statement about how I don't need to live in fear because I feel critical of the Israeli government is exactly what I needed to hear. I love the Israeli people, and I have deep roots and connections in Israel, but since becoming aware, I have been in that "existential crisis" about how I can be a proud Jew and also love Israel but at the same time be so disgusted by Israel (and Canada). Hey Candace, I’m so glad you’re back and you’re better! Thank you for being open about listening to what’s going on. My husband and myself are Muslims serving in the United States Navy and despite of us being born here his family is from Palestine. What’s going on really has affected us mentally, no one really talks about how our governments actions and decisions directly impacts the lives of service members. For the past few months before going into work I sit in my car and cry about the innocent lives that have been lost in Palestine and how the work I do somewhat helps the mission on helping Israel. It’s hard to talk about, I mentally couldn’t handle the pressures from work and everything going on in the world and ended up seeking mental help from the navy. It’s also hard to mention why it’s upsetting to me to these providers because what if I’m labeled antisemitic especially because I wear my hijab in uniform. Outside of work when I am not wearing my uniform, we have been harassed and treated bad. We even had to start carrying a conceal carry because we don’t feel safe without the uniform. What’s going on is hard and we just want innocent lives to stop being killed. #ceasefirenow🇵🇸
