This is one of my favorite vids. My son and I built our own rail system to get around our world faster, just like this one. Sometimes we (he or I) get a little bored with MC because we play it so much, but when that happens, I usually get new ideas from your vids and it renews our interest. Right now, we're turning a zombie dungeon into a loot/XP farm. It means a lot to me for my son and I to have a common interest like that. So, I guess I just wanted to say thanks for helping to keep things interesting for us.

On the Monorail: I would extend those chiseled stone bricks up using stone brick walls and place a chiseled stone brick 2 blocks above the rail itself to hang a lantern from. I have quite a few monorail-style builds in my "Abandoned World" series (3 of them, one spanning about 1 minute, one for 10, and a 3rd that takes about an hour to travel down), if you're close to, or at ground level, I find the best way to handle that is go at least 4 blocks from the rail, and fence it off. Torch the inside as needed to keep the bad ones out. Go 5 or 6 to prevent any "Hiss-Boom" incidents. (That is, if you go 5 blocks between it, and the fence, the fence would be the 6th block, to 5 blocks exist between it, and the rails.) For access if needed, add a gate here and there.

The skybridge never turns, never changes height and goes from one end of the map to the other W/E and another one N/S connecting the entire map. If it goes through a mountain, then it goes through the mountain. It's pretty impressive. I don't bother with supports though. That could be very snazzy though.
