After a year and a half of working remotely and performing my job without any problems my boss has instructed me to come back in. I really valued working from home and it is demoralizing that I was not able to provide any input. It is definitely a morale downer.

It seems like businesses have (mostly) had a return date in the fall, which is unfortunate as we head into the months when kids are returning back to school and colds and influenza will likely be on the rise. Do you have the ability to pivot into something else?

@@dothethingskevinross6676 I am aggressively applying to remote only positions right now. I will use the discomfort of the commute, stale office air, office gossip, and continuous interruptions to fuel me to find something better. Even if a pay cut is involved.

Well that is definitely one way to motivate your pivot. Sending you my best on your search.

I resigned my job today due to return to office mandate. I work from home and did complete all my tasks as well as excelled in it. Many feel the same at my now old job and are considering their options also! Great content!

That's fantastic that you were able to make that transition. I truly hope that it continues to work out for you, and your colleagues. Thanks for stopping by on this one.

I feel similar, my job has us in a hybrid, one week from home one week in office set up. It’s so pointless and sucks when you don’t get a say in your working conditions. Really considering leaving my job too.

Speaking to the ego piece of management - think of how good it feels to walk down the cubicle aisles or down the hall and have ppl smile at you, revere you, and chat you up pleasantly (whether it’s genuine or not) simply bc you’re the manager. That doesn’t happen when your employees are at home
@dothethingskevinross66763 жыл бұрын
Agreed. If the ego needs stroking, it's much more challenging to do this from a distance. This is really hard to admit by those that crave that validation that it's an obstacle for them.

I went to college and have a BS degree, but now I feel that the young people coming up ( unless you want to be a DR, Attorney, Dentist, etc. dont need a college degree. No such thing as 30 years in a company ( if it lasts that long) grads end up with HEAVY loan debt from day one and there is NO guarantee of even getting any job, much less one in the field of degree. I know not all people can own a business but.....

I agree with this statement and I'm planning a video on this very topic about "needing" a college degree. I am in a profession where I need a degree, along with a license to practice, however in all of my business endeavors, I haven't taken one "formal" business class in college to get these started. Appreciate you hanging on this one.

I believe we reach a point of not going back WFH is here to stay, going back to the past will be way harder then people think
@dothethingskevinross66763 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think a lot of people are discovering that it's much harder to go back. Especially if you were (are) productive at home.

What's going on beautiful humans? What are your thoughts on this Great Resignation and this shift to keep remote work options intact? Are you looking for a new opportunity, (job or freelance)?
@NerdyDopeChic3 жыл бұрын
I'm currently looking for remote work. I'm introverted and I don't need that much socializing especially with coworkers. Data analysis here I come!

(23 year old From U.K.) I didn’t like working from home, but it actually made me realise I enjoy the social interactions of my job but not the actual day to day work (aka the bulk of it). So even though it was hard work I’m really grateful for working from home for helping me reset my career
@dothethingskevinross66763 жыл бұрын
Agree. I think trying to figure out the social aspect of work is more challenging than many want to admit. And not to mention that we've been working this way for quite a long time, so it's really going to take quite a bit of effort and unity to make a transition like this. I'm glad you've been able to have that distance so that you can focus on your career trajectory.
