An Unbroken Tradition
In an unbroken series that traces back to before the Norman Conquest, Great Seals of the Realm have expressed the will of British monarchs for centuries.
Styled the ‘clavis regni’, or ‘key of government’, they are such important instruments of state that the offence of counterfeiting Seals of the Realm was historically considered high treason and punishable by death.

I love the concept for the series, The deep history of Britain and all its pomp and ceremony, is Royal Mint's key selling point. It's just a shame that an attempt was made to blur the image, so to replicate a design stamped in wax (one presumes that was the intention). This wouldn't have mattered so much were the strike in high relief (it costs enough), as it stands however, it leaves us with an underwhelming impression of the design. Perhaps something to consider for the upcoming medals in the series.
