COMPONENTS - I can only comment on the Kickstarter version (with minis), but the card stock is good, and the cardboard components like the walls are chunky and thick. I think this might be one of the best games I've played, both from a thematic standpoint, little RNG (what I love for competitive play) and playstyles are tied tied in your general (meaning your style will vary from game to game) I do believe to fully enjoy this game you need the black powder expansion, the addition of siege engines to both the horde and your defenses, as well as unique units for each faction really adds that extra layer of depth to combat which may otherwise feel limited in options. The 2.0 rulebook (which you can download for free) is also a huge difference

Thanks, I saw this hit a lot of top 10 lists last year so I was keeping an eye on the reprint, but I think you touched on a lot of things that really would not work well for me. I’m not exactly against competitive worker placement games but I’ve played so many of them it takes an awful lot for a new one to stand out as being really worth chasing down.

I noted 8and have before) that you did not give straight good reviews even though you were sent a review copy. It gives the aspects you liked more weight. I am still tempted by this game even if i am going to play mostly two-handed solo

I don’t like 2-player as much as 3+. The reed automa kind of works, but also makes things a bit odd balance-wise

My favorite way to play co-op was 3+ player, and that might be a bit much to handle for one player. But both solo and 2-handed co-op work fine.

I didn’t find it that hard to get into. The rules are ALMOST all there… it’s just poorly organized. I hope they get it right with the reprint!

Glad to hear it. Solo and coop were the toughest for me, but the designers are active on BGG answering questions, which helped me get my confusing parts cleared up
