His name also means something very important. Sakazuki. It is the Oath of Brothers. Also Akainu has this tendency of calling Luffy, Dragon's Son. No matter how infamous Luffy has become. Akainu see's him as Dragon's Son. Sakazuki, the ac of becoming brothers through drinking Sake. He already has a Yakuza Oyabun motiff, so making Dragon his Blood Brother would explain his hatred towards anything that goes against the Marines. Dragon betrayed him. He defected the Marines and even created the Revolutionary Army. As a man that follows his Justice, he will do it. He will kill Dragon and all his kin to bring Justice. But Akainu is not the type to be sad or disappointed about betrayal. He just gets angry. Angry at the fact that there are people that have different views and values. Considering the hints that Hibari may be his daughter. I believe his childhood is kind of a mirror to Koby's. They both have an unbreakable code of Justice. But Koby didn't had a sister. And Sakazuki did, and at some point he admired and loved Dragon as his friend that he wanted them to become Family. And so Sakazuki's Sister ended up marrying Dragon. Creating an unbreakable link of the bond of friendship between them. And then Dragon went Revolutionary, his wife died shortly after birthing Luffy. The Rage of Akainu would be unending. Not only he betrayed his friendship, he betrayed his oath, and he even ended up costing the life of his sister, one of the few people he loved. Akainu's Justice gets fueled by betrayal. Although at the end of the day, Dragon's defection from the Marines affected him so much, that anything that goes against his Justice is Treason. Goes to show how influential D. are. Garp inspired the Marines. But Dragon inspired one particular individual, and due to unfortunate circumstances that same individual hates Dragon and his entire kin.

I can't wait for sakazukis backstory. Probably led a normal life until pirates raided his town. The marines beat the pirates but showed mercy to a few lackeys and spared them. Those lackeys then killed his parents, called reinforcements and devasted the town and killed every marine, where the marine captain in his dying breath tells sakazuki some inspiring words to never show mercy. A backstory similar to Lord Saladin in Destiny 2 where he showed mercy to enemies and then they devasted a town later.

A cool thing to mention is that in the official song Red Dog Red, sung by Akainu’s voice actor for a one piece album released quite a while back, the main chorus has him repeat the line “Battle without honor!”. A cool callback from Toei to their earlier series and a fitting line for a character who will rain down hell from above, swim under the ground, and blast a hole through you to get to what he wants.
@TheEphemeralEternity Жыл бұрын
This was a truly lovely analysis, and one that really makes sense of how someone like Akainu thinks. He's not just a blind follower of the marines and governement; being thought of as such would descredit how his stalwart persona has been set up by Oda thus far. Rather, Akainu likely has an infallible sense of justice, and anyone who doesn't meet that standard is simply evil redgardless of their standing in the world. This is a man you do not cross, no matter who you think you are.
@onestupidboi9320 Жыл бұрын
22:15 I think that the celestial dragons should be treated as "not individually beyond redemption" rather than "not all terrible people". The "good ones" we've seen didn't start off as decent people. Instead they learned the error of their ways from learning about the people they had previously looked down on through What's His Name's interaction with Otohime in fish man island. I think the distinction is important, because every celestial dragon is complicit in the exploitation and enslavement of people just by living in Mary Geoise, not to mention that every single one we have seen owned their own personal slaves. An interesting observation I make when looking at the story through this lens is about the Don Quixote family. Rosinante and Doflamingo were both born celestial dragons, but reacted completely differently to their titles being stripped. Rosinante was able to accept his way of life had changed, but Doflamingo only learned to hate those who took his old one from him. If Rosinante had remained a celestial dragon his whole life, he probably would have been a shitty person until there was some kind of event that made him reconsider things.

Great video, a deep dive on the hottest man in One Piece. I appreciate you actually discussing the filmic influences behind all the admirals. Before the Imu reveal, that long stretch of real world time after Marineford but before Reverie, it was always difficult to square which of the two Big Bads, Akainu and Blackbeard, Luffy would punch first, since they both represent the apex of opposition to him in vastly different ways. This analysis helped me to answer that question, even taking Imu into account, but we reach different conclusions. Instead of MarieJois echoing Marineford, it'll reverse things in a way. Blackbeard will arrive to steal what he wants, but this time he won't be the one to kill the king at the last minute, because the dog will have already bit his face off, leaving the empty throne actually empty. Then Blackbeard mercs Akainu leaving his victory a hollow one, because black holes get it? or because magma rapidly cools after finally erupting get it? Then I guess like, Luffy vs Blackbeard happens shrug. My imagined scenario is obviously not as well thought out as yours, hope it wasn't too annoying to read.

Personally I’ve always felt it was clear that his idea of “absolute justice” will be born of a sacrifice of a loved one, like every other backstory. I assume that, by compromising on something, someone close to Akainu died, and he vowed to never let any death go in vain. During Ohara he would have said, if one person lives then all of the others who we killed would have been in vain and that’s disgusting to him

I think nothing would be more interesting than finding out that Akainu's Home Island is none other than Hachinosu. For a man that dreams of Justice, being born on an Island that is the definition of anarchy and chaos. Seeing Piracy be revered as the Way and seeing countless attrocities done to the non-pirate population (mostly slaves, but also traders and other dark deals) Yet the population keep flocking, including his own parents. Corrupted by the desire of wealth and fortune. Akainu being a survivor of Rock's Island during his prime. Would explain why he's the way he is. He probably became somewhat of a vigilante, killing Pirates at Hachinosu. But at the end of the day Rocks always knew, and never did anything about it because he found it amusing. And with a single display of power, shows Akainu that only the Strong can change the world. He even fueled his hatred by letting him live and continue to do his thing. Eventually during a raid by Garp, he manages to catch Garps attention and becomes a Marine officially. But the words Rocks said to him that day and his display of power made him realize, that if he is to change the world to his views, then he needs to have the power to make it happen. Would be interesting. Blackbeard got inspired by Rocks, while Akainu got traumatized by Rocks. But at the end of the day his Will is the one they inherited. Truly painting Rocks as the villain that even dead still affects the world.

What if Akainu is actually the real leader behind Sword? Remember how he's revealed as "an insurgent in the Marines" by Spider Squard when he explains who told him about "Whitebeard's betrayal"? Could've been a subtle nudge of things to come. Then we have the fact that Sword members act without having to be worried about orders from the upper echelon because they're "about to get fired". The fact that Jewelry Boney managed to get away even though Akainu personally came to pick her up, means he likely let her go. And then we go back to the tattoos that Akainu has. No, not the Yakuza one on his left arm, but rather the one on his right that completely stands out: A simple sword.

Nice bro! Perfect analysis! Sakazuku unlike Luffy put hat his on himself from his dead marine fathers corpse and is the product of a life of rage! A volcano and a pit bull ready to explode and eat his owner the second it shows weakness! Seeing your connection of how yakuza operated like the world government in feudal Japan makes me more convinced that the world government is an alliance of 20 pirates that took down the lunarian gods atop marijoa… like the raid on onigashima…but, like kuro, imu wanted their existence to be unknown abd no one to chase them to end the cycle of coups! Sooo would Robin revealing in front of Morgan’s and Saturn that the world government flag is the original skull and cross bones… they are the original rocks pirates and joyboy was the original roger? If this is the egghead incident and this causes world civil war and marines like sakazuki to go rogue that would kick start the final saga in my mind. Then so really like your setup where even though sakazuki is going rogue he he still has to be taken down by sabo and Luffy together! And if imu is so overpowered that he can’t be taken down by anyone but Blackbeard who knew about imu power and knew it’s counter was the darkness fruit! So Blackbeard taking out the strongest in the world and becoming both pirate and king of the world not be the very best setup for final villain? Pirate king vs pirate king! Black hole vs the sun … This is too good if you ask me. It suddenly ups the stakes so that we get the most chaotic war ever with a final high stakes villain much stronger than we previously imagined! It also sets up the end theme meaning freedom and control, you can’t control the will of the people so the ultimate controller is hidden(like an island) so that no one know they are being controlled by a named person with a face and address! Just like my theory that Oda is a communist and marx and Engel said that capitalism continues slavery but you have no masters the masters are a class of elites that take no blame for their mastery of the world. So Luffy is the answer an anarcho socialist! A liberator who does not hang on to control and instead the throne is actually empty… the king of the anarchists(pirates)

Really good video, I already knew that the admirals were modeled after famous Japanese actors, but I didn't know how deep it went, how much inspiration Oda pulled from the characters they played. Also I had never thought of it, but Dragon being exmilitary, and maybe a former comrade of Sakazuki's makes a lot of sense.

I think Akainu is really gonna snap back on the world government in some way. When I see him, I think of the story of Sensui from Yu Yu Hakusho. Light/Dark and no grey, but something happens that snaps that line. I don't know what that will be exactly though.

This felt like a documentary! Great arguments, I can see it unfolding as you theorized. Akainu is such an interesting character. A good villain with his own morale code, an apex that you as much as you would hate him, have to respect due to his immense strength and will power.

I'm so glad I clicked this video, easy subscribe. I'm glad you brought up the recent chapter and how Akainu almost seemed like he was talking about himself when he was talking about Kuma, that really got the gears turning in my head when I read that.
@shinycharizard3218 Жыл бұрын
Great video man, I wrote a theory a little while back that Dragon and Akainu are "Brothers" because they performed the "Sakazuki" ceremony together like Ace, Sabo, and Luffy and for some unknown reason Akainu felt or was betrayed by Dragon resulting in the immense hatred for him and solidifying his will of absolute justice. Also now with recent chapters and a possible Akainu connection to Kuma, maybe Kuma is the 3rd brother just like Luffy was to Ace and Sabo? Ace and Sabo were the same exact age like Dragon and Akainu are, Luffy and Kuma are also years younger. I know the theory is very tin foily, but I'd like to believe there's something more between Dragon and Akainu rather then Dragon just being a revolutionary and Akainu a Marine.

Interesting theory would be cool if Dragon,Akainu,and Kuma have or had a brotherly bond. Maybe we will see a new type of reaction from Akainu to Kuma when Kuma dies if this is true? It's the same type of theory logic I like same as Akainu and Kizaru being friends or best friends, to see what happens if Kizaru dies this Arc or is put in retirement or quits!
@shinycharizard3218 Жыл бұрын
@@14KroshTV Ivankov could even be the 3rd person/brother, I wouldn't say Makino or Dandan because shes younger than Dragon and Akainu

I predict that Akainu will be defeated by Sabo, magma was told to be hotter than fire and once something was told in the story that its impossible, its gonna happen.

My God you clowns are still going on with that theory even after all the build up with this character you guys really go all out of your way to make your bullshit head can you come true if you think Sabo is going to defeat when you clearly don’t even know the limits of a kind or his awakening wake the hell up of your head canon bullshit dude.

Interesting! I had never considered that Akainu could only have accepted the fleet admiral position because he didn't want to serve under Aokiji, who he doesn't like. But it does make sense, as I can't really see any other reason for he to be doing paperwork instead of fighting on a battlefield.
