Bug or other boxer engines are put on trikes a lot because it's easy to just drop the entire rear end on a bike chassis to build a trike. And because they sound good with a very low center of gravity (as opposed to FWD transaxle engines). But of course it's totally different from having the engine between your feet like on a bike. They're basicall a convertible sports car with a bike front end welded to it.

the VTEC on a VFR is 2 valve at low rpm, 4 valve at high rpm, different from the VTEC in the 4 wheeled bretheren.

cameron matherly there was actually a similar VTEC-E that operated either one or both intake valves on some 90's D15 powered civics. There was also a special JDM 3 stage VTEC D15 head that would go from single intake to dual intake to dual high lift intake valves. Also, the lower end more economy based K series engines ran an I-VTEC that switched between single and dual valve operation. So it is kind of real VTEC, but not the full rip high lift classic VTEC everyone knows and loves.

My first bike ever was a mint 04 Honda Xr200r and it was amazing soo much fun and literally couldn't kill it. Swamps and mud everyday it took it out, would absolutely tell anyone to pick up any clean Honda Xr 200/250r for a teens first dirtbike!

What I cannot understand is how every bike that is in a relative 'running condition' is always $2,000-$3,000, anytime I look on craigslist or marketplace. 2003 sv650 - $2500, 1989 - honda nighthawk $2000, 1999 GSXR - $2200. What is the psychology of this? Do people just think there is a baseline number for a motorcycle no matter the condition or year or mileage? I can get a brand new SVS650 from a dealer for under $5000. I honestly don't think I would ever buy a used bike, it seems like in this instance incurring the depreciable cost is worth it.

@Yammie Noob, the reason for many VW powered trikes is the use of the rear end of a big or bus. Strip the body down to frame and just cut that bitch off in front of the essential parts holding the motor weld a triangle sub frame on front with risers and then fab an area for a triple and the rest is history. Easy conversion. Also you can switch the motor for a 911 Motor and drive train pretty easy.
