I played a few hours of my first campaign with Golfag and what I love about it that it went totally in a different direction than LHs campaign so far… fought Drycha instead of Festus and then Azhag, Clan Moulder, wiped Laurelon Forest for Franz and now Kemmler. Having a new enemy every few turns is fun and the kind of randomness of the contracts will give different campaigns every time. Should have good replayabillity . I am also not taking any cities and building up two camps at the same time… one is deployed while the other is on cooldown. Works great.

This campaign has surprised me as I’ve never been a fan of the ogres. But this campaign has been super cool so far

If you have reinforcing lords they get a pile of meat too but dont have much meat upkeep so you really rack up a huge supply. 3-4 lords reinforcing and you get over a thousand to 2 thousand each battle.
@vargknight13 күн бұрын
I mean sure, that's entirely unnecessary though, once you have done like 3 contracts especially larger ones with like a 10 turn limit you will have more meat than you can spend anyway. By turn 30 I had two level 5 camps, Golgfag walking around with 15k meat and another lord with about 5k, plus around 350k gold, all with nothing to spend any of this on. I know people used to complain you didn't get big enough rewards with the old bounties, but with this system they have gone too far the other way and there's no challenge to anything from very early on

So far I’m loving the green skin and orges campaign I’m very invested In them I want more

It is so fun watching the Ogres go to work. The contract system makes it especially interesting but the one thing that worries me is if you take a contract that is a great distance from where you setup your forces, that the only way of getting back is either traveling back on foot or hoping that a contract appears that is near your starting region. The implication is that if you have not built up your camps or have another army in place then your home region is undefended but maybe given the way that this LL plays no factions will declare war on him. However, it seems like a very high risk move to me.

yeah im playing with golfang atm and finding myself force marching across the map to get to my targets leaving my camps and settlements undefended, just for my target to get wiped out before i can get enough points for the contract completion
@dragonslayer210713 күн бұрын
@@donkey9113 Just how far are your targets from your client? If I am not mistaken golg can teleport to the client but it is getting back which can be an issue. Unless there is a contract near where your camps are then it might take a while to get back.
@HowardsCat13 күн бұрын
You can just move your camp. You don't have to have a home region with Golgfag.
@dragonslayer210713 күн бұрын
@@HowardsCat The problem is the way camps move in this. It supposedly has a cost and it has a cool down before you can place it again. Golgfag's play style is meant to be more like a horde faction but they do not give him anything with the camps that would properly reflect that. Since he is supposed to be a true horde faction, camps should work differently for him than any other Ogre faction. They should be attached to an army and be able to be packed up and redeployed with only a one turn cool down but at a cost. The camps provide support and act as a base of operations for their current activities. The camps can have a secondary force that is static and defends the camp while allowing army is off doing their thing. To not make it too OP, the units in the camp should have some upkeep cost related to them but it should be reduced compared to the upkeep of the units when they are part of an army. Furthermore, there number should equal the number of armies that you currently have active. However, if an army is completely wiped then the camp attached to it start to suffer attrition if a new army is not formed from it within a given number of turns. Should the camp be destroy but the army it was attached to still lives then a new one can be placed but you have to build it up again from scratch.

Should have kept Dietershafen for yourself, furs I believe has a good factionwide buff, I think missile resistance all armies? Only a small amount but of course stacks up the more you get of that resource. Pottery, I think it was, is the one to really look out for, as it increases your camp limit having that

I was heading to take a contract against Black Pit and by the time I got to the area they stopped offering the contract. I had to wait 4 turns just raiding until finally Talabacland offered one. I'm not sure how it works ... Middenland originally was offering but they just let them walk all over them to the point they only had one minor settlement left but stopped offering a contract once got over there to help. Does entering in to trade/nonaggression make them not offer contracts anymore or something. It seems the contracts available are only ever factions I don't have diplomatic agreements with. Could be coincidence though.

I believe its completely random and changes every turn (which is slightly annoying)

Yep new Warhammer DLC is my focus right now, Empire will still get 3-4 uploads going forward, although less next week as its Christmas so will be taking some time off. But then back to 3 uploads a week in the new year.

So I played Golgfag first as thought the mechanics looked really interesting, which at first they are. But quite quickly started to lose interest and ended up starting an Arbaal campaign instead! You get so much gold and meat so quickly that it's actually ridiculous, I had over 100k gold and a level 5 camp by like turn 15 and got bored by like turn 30 something. As there's not much point taking settlements in the same fashion you usually would you don't really have much to spend gold on and you get huge amounts from longer contracts. It's also quite limiting in terms of the contracts you get, as they are always from factions near you I found you end up just staying in one area of the map and not really going anywhere. Like I know you could just not bother doing anything for a few turns and specifically go to another area, but it's kind of boring to just be doing nothing but strolling across the map for several turns. I feel like this is a campaign that really could have done with a bit of a narrative to it, something like the Changeling had with various quest battles in different areas, just to give you something to aim for. Although I guess there's also nothing stopping you from playing it like a normal campaign and taking all the settlements, it just feels that's not how it's meant to be played. Probably sounds like a really negative review haha, but I did have fun with it first of all and Golgfag himself is an absolute beast, ogres are certainly in a better place than they were previously in general so I will give Greasus a go at some point for a more normal style of campaign and just try and confederate Golgfag! Anyway, that was more in depth than I planned to go ahaha, don't be put off, just because that was my experience doesn't mean you or anyone else will feel the same :)

Seems like recruting lords- camp tyrants from destroyed factions makes camp limit unimportant as they always can be deployed once obtained, game treats them as once deployed
