I’m going to admit I’m a 58-year-old man, who found a great Y3 hoodie at my local consignment store. Is an insane price, and the quality, fabrics, color and styling at one of my most interesting pieces. I’m a fairly strident minimalist, and this gray and black actually fits into my pallete. I’ve already gotten some comments of praise for wearing it.

Love Y-3 but it's often just Adidas quality and manufacturing with luxury price tag, so I understand why people might refrain from it. On top of that because of the number of different items required for each season some pieces are too sportswear-like for something that is not performance oriented, while others are not practical at all to wear for the average consumer. The lack of seasonal concept makes it very difficult to get emotionally invested in the diffusion line. My personal favourite Y-3 fit is much more Yohji than Adidas while some other favourite pieces include the Adidas Y-3 Runner 4D, which to me, is a beautiful blend of both design languages.

Yeah Y3 stuff occasionally pops up on the TK website and it almost always immediately sells out. I picked up the white Y3 / Stephen Doherty 'Y-3 CH3 Raw Terry Logo Hoodie' from TK for next to nothing a couple weeks back and it's one of my recent favourites.

Y-3 is where I buy most of my pants. If you are a larger man who wants something close to Yohji's mainline stuff, y-3 is the only place I know of that makes something that fits me. This has got me wanting to make a video, I will ride or die for this brand lmao

Yohji's main line size range isn't bad. They're actually known for being more accommodating than most designer brands. I recommend shopping in a physical Yohji store, and asking for more sizes. (Bonus points - Call ahead and ask them to pull a rack in your size.) They don't do large sizes in every piece, but they definitely do some. They also don't seem to show up online. I've seen other brands do this. They'll carry up to like a 3X in some items, but only go up to 1X online. You occasionally see larger pieces on consignment sites, but that's also rare. Presumably because people buy stuff and don't want to let it go.

i come from not such a good family regarding the finances, but when i was a kid, i saw a neighour of mine and he was wearing some y-3 clothes. i told myself that when i ll grow i want to be like him, 10 years later im obsessed with y-3 and im the happiest whenever i get something from them. crazy good quality. totally recommend. but please dont bring the hype to y-3, lets keep it to ourselves. much love to everyone

I've been collecting Y-3 since 2016 and this video encapsulates a lot of my feelings about the brand. Even though I mostly go for Yohji mainline/diffusions nowadays Y-3 will always have a place in my heart and closet.

So when I first got SERIOUSLY into fashion 1 year ago, I bought a pair of Y-3 Terrex Swift R3 shoes. I love them. But every time I look at Y-3 I'm reminded of how sporadically interesting they are. When you showed that collection of pictures from various seasons over the years and said they're from all over 2 decades, I was like "yeah makes sense." Especially over the last few years, there'll be one or two great items per season, filled up with bland and uninspired "logo streetwear."

Last year there was a great purge of Y-3 stock and I bought tons of shoes & clothing directly from Adidas outlet and through eBay resell. Quality is great and when the pieces are 80-90%off, they are worth it. Kaiwa for less than $100 and Goretex jacket for less th $150, I had a chance to experience the brand in a 360 deg way and can have just Y-3 fits for days. For me it is an entry point for Syte and Ground Y, so I am happy. I have more Y-3 than Adidas gear now and that tells a lot.

Y-3 is one of my favorites! Not always the most functional and I agree they've felt a little auto-pilot lately, but they really have some gems and classic silhouettes as well. Fantastic video as always. Really interesting how much my personal interest in Y-3 seems to have matched other people's. Years and years ago Y-3, and especially the Qasas definitely started my eventual journey into techwear, but there were a solid few years where I wasn't seeing anything particularly interesting from them (although apparently perhaps it just passed me by). It wasn't until I randomly started seeing their 2024 offerings on Instagram that i was interested in them again. Overall great video about an interesting brand that also ties in a very relevant aspect of consumer fashion. Loved it.

For as long as I've followed this brand, I've always thought "I'll wait for the 50% off sale" when I see something I like. Then the sale comes around and I never buy anything. That's the cycle I think hurts the brand so much. They set themselves up to not sell anything fast with the constant sales

back when I was into streetwear, Japanese cut & sewn stuff like Yohji offered was an obsessed, I bought the shoes like crazy, Qasa, the boost, jackets, shirts, etc from Y-3 in droves & always appreciated the quality & the way it fit, if I ever were to delve back into this area of clothing I would definitely be looking at their offerings.

good video! i collected a lot of y-3 immediately after getting into secondhand/fashion in general. there is so much to explore on grailed especially if you wear a size small. i like the early stuff 2003-2005 & the 2008-2013 era where things got really experimental. the new stuff feels like a revival but also feels a bit too safe and minimal. i've stopped collecting as i've leaned into more experimental avant-garde brands like army of me and first aid to the injured.

About 1/2 of my wardrobe is Y-3 and I wear at least one piece per day, if not more. The build quality and materials used (esp in pre-2020 seasons) are super elevated and interesting if you dig around the archives. For example, I have a light jacket from I think 2018 that has a cotton/paper (yes, paper 🤯) front side, a perforated polyester back side, a comically huge detachable hood (big enough to fit a small child), and huge pockets inside of other huge pockets for no reason lol. I feel like an actual athleisure vampire in it and it has a beautiful drape. It’s also comfy af But there are def a lot of logo-focused duds over the last few years especially. The 2024 stuff is wild tho and I’m excited for their future 🌀 I’ve even worn Y-3 blazers and light jackets/long shirts to formal events like weddings and ppl were asking me about the pieces since even their more basic stuff has elements of surprise and interest. Obvi huge Y-3 stan here 😭💅🏼 need to make more videos about them for my channel!

I have a few Y-3 pieces and a couple pairs of kicks, I think my most-worn is the 'Y-3 Utility Pant', which has a wide-leg / cinched-cuff Japanese aesthetic and several cargo pockets, they are a lot lighter weight than some of my other tech pants and work well in the summer evenings. Like Ant says, I picked them up in the sales for probably half-price, can't argue with that. Paired with the Y-3 GR.1P White/Black lowtops it was a staple look for the middle of last year.

I do like the jacket, the side adjustments aren't my thing but I'm quite thick. My last pickup was an outdoor research dark grey goretex. It's on the border between gorpy and techy but could flex in either direction in my opinion. I'd recommend Outdoor research and beyond clothing as two very underrated brands with quality rooted in military special operations contracts and designs both simple and striking that I think you may enjoy a look at. A fine marriage between function and form that might really be something you enjoy.

Y-3 used to be great, but it's gotten super boring on a retail level. The campaigns and promo photos all look great, but that's mostly really good styling. They used to have tons of interesting pieces. Now it's just cheap synthetic basics with some very mild tweaks costing more than they should. The pieces used to be something between Yohji quality and Adidas quality. Now they're basically all Adidas quality, but for a good bit more money.

When I discovered and took the deep plunge into techwear/streetwear/cyberpunk several years ago, I also became a bit of a sneakerhead. Footwear was (and still is) such a major focus for me, and Y-3 was probably the first I took notice of. But I wear a men's US 14, and sadly, Y-3 never seemed to go past 12. So, that kinda sucks, because I still think Y-3 shoes are pretty dope.
