Indian Football is growing ! rn we're Tier 2 team in Asia (not rank wise ofc) Except for the giants like JAPAN, S KOREA, IRAN & AUSTRALIA (who recently joined Asian Segment) India can go head to head infact even win with the rest of the teams.. Recently India defeated Iraq but the refree in that match legit robbed us & took the game to the penalties.. Then we defeated Kuwait which is ranked lower becauseof their bans but they defeat Syria, UAE, QATAR signifying their actual strength (around 70 rank) And we defeated them too ! so things are changing & if we enter the 3rd Round of 2026 WC QUALIFIER, then this is surely the next GOLDEN AGE OF INDIAN FOOTBALL

I don't think Football is at #2. It really depends on the state. In West Bengal, for e.g., that holds true. In Kerala and Goa, Football is #1. But then, in Punjab and Haryana, Hockey is #2/#3. A few more states might count hockey as #2. Still others, apart from Cricket, emphasise Individual sports like Badminton, Tennis, Athletics, etc. Wrestling is very popular in Haryana. Kabbadi is popular in many regions.
