I agree for the most part. My theory is that Syd will leave The Bear, causing Carmy to have to go on an emotional journey to healing his wounds to be ready for her. Meanwhile, Syd's new restaurant will eventually fail, because she's proven time and time again that she's too green, and not ready for that kind of responsibility. Remember-- she works at The Bear because she's already failed one before. When her restaurant fails, and Carmy heals, they can finally come back together to create the ultimate project, and ideally, a true love match.

what do you mean by “too green” ? your prediction sounds believable but idk what that means to better understand u lol
@raven_zoe4 ай бұрын
@@mangoliys It just means she doesn't have the experience necessary to run a restaurant on her own. Like when she oversteps and wants to do to-go orders and Carmy says "no, we're not ready" but she sets it up anyway, and leaves the pre-order option on, which is what leads us to the chaos in ep 7 of season 1. She just doesn't take leadership or criticism well, and that's the sign of someone who is not experienced enough to go solo.

Agreed; however, I think Sydney "succeeds" at the new restaurant. The new restaurant has the same backers as Ever and has been set up as a sure thing and stability for Sydney. My thought is Sydney leaves The Bear and does fine at the new restaurant; however, she becomes unhappy due to the monotony and lack of collaboration. With Sydney gone, The Bear will fail, giving Carmy time to get his life together. I agreed with everything except the idea that Sydney was always ready for Carmy. She has stuff to work on too. She is impatient and lacks confidence. (Remember her telling Carmy that she screws things up.) She still has flashbacks to her catering business crashing and burning, and her having to move back in with her dad. Like Carmy, she downs Pepto Bismol like it's water and vomits after high-stress situations. When they show her medicine cabinet at home, it's FULL of meds, and they weren't all her dad's since we see her pop a bunch of pills first thing in the morning. I'm guessing they are anti-anxiety meds. Also, as much as I want to see a relationship happen between her and Carmy, it will have to be after she's made a name for herself on her own so they can meet again as equals. As it is, she comes to work there because she's sort of fan girling over him. She begins as his sous chef, which puts her beneath him. Then even when they become partners, he's still calling the shots and getting all the praise. They aren't on equal footing yet. Her going to the other restaurant will give her that chance.

His family and friends pushed him toward her because they knew he liked her, and that she liked him from way back--he was just too shy to do anything about it. So this time she chose to take charge. I am cool if they become a couple, stay friends, ease some of the tension then choose to be a variation of the "cousins" thing with Ritchie. It kinda doesn't matter. They find solace in each other and their joint unbridled passion to be great for the sake of loving to be skilled and loving good food. And for that. No I don’t like Claire. She doesn't have a personality just sound bites. She could be a fascinating lead character in a different drama. But at the moment she veers on a failed bechdel test. I agree on the arc Carmy needs to take but I still don't ship them. I don't like that they are shipped together because I see it as a bit of power imbalance (mentor/mentee, though I know that changes down the line and its a more even playing field) and I just want a woman to succeed without romance. I think Syd is a great character and I think her passion is food and getting a star. To be fair, I thought romance would muddle that but I kinda ship her with Luca, feeling they have more romantic chemistry. I do believe her and Carmy have chemistry, just solely platonic! Syd & Carmy would be as contrived as Rick & Michonne in TWD. Syd had chemistry going with Marcus, but that didn’t work out. Then Carmy had Claire and that didn’t work out. I’m not sure I’d be convinced about Carmy & Syd as an actual couple. I’m into them more as a “work wife, work husband” and leaving it at that. What brought them together is the work, what keeps them together is the work…unless Syd doesn’t sign the partnership contract.

@@witchplease9695 simple. No one else left in the world “we might as well get together” type vibe. Rick was a little too into the new Breckenridge’s character before he “finally noticed her who’s been here all along?” Maybe you can feel their chemistry now, but it was constructed more than it was endgame.

Luca /Syd is an obnoxious attempt at a consolation relationship for Sydney that makes no sense. The writers distorted and compromised the integrity of their story to avoid Sydney and Carmen. They collapsed The Bears entire storyline and petulantly dug in with Claire/Carmen, which ultimately affected the dynamic with other characters (like Luca being there makes no sense. Ever closing down made zero sense. What happened with the situation between the offer Luca extended to Marcus. By trying to console the audience with Luca/Syd they've now muddied Luca/Marcus). Tbh they didn't have to introduce any romance into this show, they made the choice then fumbled. It's heartbreaking to watch because the first 2 seasons were near immaculate. Such dynamic clear characters, I hate seeing them ruined.

@@SuriyaLinhStudios Hi, great video! I always love to see how other people interpret the show! In my opinion, Carmy needs claire. she is seemingly the only beacon of peace in his life amongst the chaos of his career and upbringing. I agree that we see each character grow and develop around him as the series goes on and it is for a reason. Carmy time and time again “traps himself in the walk-in” in other words self sabotages his own happiness because it’s in his nature as “The Bear”. In order to really grow as a character he needs to learn how to express his feelings more efficiently, claire allows him to do this, we get so many scenes where claire and carmy are sat intimately talking about their feelings. To say that they lack chemistry, or that carmy and syd just have more is just incorrect. Carmy and syd are business partners who share the common goal of culinary greatness. Personally, I think it would cheapen the story overall if carmy and syd were forced together and the focus shifted more heavily on a potential romance between them. What makes this show so rich in storytelling is how strong the ensemble cast and supporting characters are. The episodes that fully focus on the “side character’s” develop the world a lot more , make them seem real, and help you better understand each characters actions and the steaks that are held if the bear does not end up being successful. Overall, I think the Carmy and syd “ship” is just a product of fan culture. They look good together and work well together at work but that does not mean they should be together. Saying that they are endgame negates all of the aforementioned and simply does not make any sense for the plot. All of this of course is just my friendly opinion i don’t want you to feel like i am hating lol :) just a huge tv and film nerd over here!

@@kjproductions4326 but syd is literally carmy’s beacon of hope. when he was having a panic attack thinking about his family *and claire* thoughts of syd is what got him out of it. i agree to a certain extent that as a relationship outside of work, carmy and syd will potentially not work, as i think syd as a person deserves miles better than whatever carmy could give her right now, but i personally disagree with the idea that what carmy needs is a person like claire. he, from how i see it, feels pressured to be with her by family and friends because they see her as a good fit. carmy is being told how to feel by people outside of the situation and i just don’t think that warrants a true connection between him and claire. yeah, he spoke to her about his feelings here and there, but they just don’t have a connection in my humble opinion, he seems to be a lot more vulnerable and open to sydney. sorry for the long comment i just think carmy’s romantic life is very easy to waffle on about. no hate to you or your opinion! i hope you have a good day/night.
@skybolt59684 ай бұрын
@@kjproductions4326Just want to preface this by saying no hate! Also a big tv fan and you’re completely entitled to your own take and it’s valid! What bothers me a lot personally about Claire though is how one dimensional she is? When her and Camry talk it feels like the focus is always on his emotions and his struggles, which don’t get me wrong, he has a lot of conflict thats essential to his character and the man needs to be working through some of it with someone, lol, but it never feels like we get to hear any of her takes or strong opinions. Even the episode where she goes to her friends party, which is supposed to show more of her character and build her out as a love interest, focuses on how she’s helping Carmen, and how Carmy hasn’t been going out or having hobbies, etc etc. And The Bear is great at fleshing out its characters and focusing on its ensemble, just like you said! That’s why it was personally so disappointing to not get anything from Claire as a character when she is the main love interest. All we know is that she loves her job, is a good friend, and has some sort of vague past with Carmen. I am so happy to hear her work antidotes and the times she mentions her passion, but it just falls flat in comparison to the great ways everyone else is shown as characters. We don’t know her motivations and pitfalls as a person. We don’t really get why Carmy is in love with Claire because we don’t know enough about her to love her. It’s kinda reminiscent to the manic pixie dream girl trope, in which the guy finds a “special” (usually quirky) girl that will magically fix all his problems by being in a relationship with him. In comparison to Claire, Syd is much more fleshed out as a character. We understand her motivations, conflicts, and want to root for her because we like Syd! I think it’s easier to see her in a relationship with Carmy because we see them together in everyday life, not just in flashback sequences or third locations we never see again. Claire is painted as otherworldly and the peace, and isn’t often in scenes with the ensemble cast. I think it’s easy to see Syd and Carmen together because we see more of Syd in general. We love Syd, and we want Carmen to love her too. Most of what is seen of Claire is through Carmens idealized lense and his belief that she’s too good for him, and it stops her from being grounded in the story. Sorry this is long I’ve been thinking about it for a WHILE. But if season 4 makes me eat my words and writes Claire as a more compelling character, I will be over THE MOON, don’t get me wrong!!
