I admire Ali tremendously, and I always will, but that's one of the few ridiculous things he ever said. What is your "own"? People who have a similar pigmentation, similar levels of melanin, in your skin? Is meaning, purpose, love or friendship only skin deep? It was certainly understandable, or at least more understandable, for Ali to fall prey to this kind of irrationality, given how he was treated in his formative years during Jim Crow, but there is no excuse whatsoever for anyone to feel this way today. We have the benefit of moral hindsight, so we know -- or we **should** know -- that what really matters in life is so much deeper and more complex than the limited range of color on the surface of your body.

That quote is getting me through some really tough times. Every time I take a hit, I remember Ali. My abuser is a fighter, and that’s how I met him 20 years ago. I thought he was a badass. He turned out to be a pussy-assed, lying bitch. The only thing I have is that he taught me to fight. When I reminded him of what he taught me, “Once you start hitting, don’t stop until the motherfucker is down and out,” he told me to fuck off. Ha ha ha. Any great fighter knows that it takes more than strength and power to win. It takes intelligence, patience, and strategy. Every time I watch this video it lifts me enough to keep hitting, keep fighting, and don’t let anyone tell you who you are.

confidence does not necessarily make someone likeable or hated, it is a neutral behavior. When people are overconfident it seems dishonest which is the actual reason why people hate these overconfident bragging people we often see in competitive sports. Ali looks overconfident but he doesn't come off as dishonest. You can clearly see that at 0:41 he gets visibly frustrated because he truly believes he is the greatest.

@TheGreatest19743 жыл бұрын
My first words I ever remember speaking was Muhammad Ali’s name. I was born in 1970 and my dad was a huge boxing fan. He used to say to me ‘who floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee?’ And I remember always replying ‘Hamad Ali.’ I collected boxing video tapes in my teens in the 1980’s and we would watch Ali’s fights for hours. Marvelling at this great man move, make people laugh, entertain, just doing what was natural to him- being the Greatest. We both loved that man. I lost my dad on New Year’s Day 2013. Age 92. A D Day veteran and my best friend. Too soon after, I lost Muhammad Ali too. I cried and cried. I couldn’t talk to anyone because I would start to cry. A man of 46. That was what The Greatest did to you. You loved him like he was your own. And he was your own. He made the world better just by him being in it. Rest in peace, brother of all men, The Greatest of all times. We will miss you forever. 💥🥊

EA ADV. first of all, in the match that Ali fought holmes Ali was definitely not in good shape and was clearly effected by Parkinson’s at the time ,whereas if Ali fought Holmes in his prime holmes would have been destroyed. Secondly the reason Ali did not go to war was not because he was a coward, it was because in his religion “Islam” it required him not to do so. So don’t ever call Ali a coward when he got in the ring with the most dangerous boxers aka sonny Liston, George foreman and joe frazier

Why is Ali the GOAT? 1. When the odds were stacked against him, he always proved the world wrong 2. When the fights got tough, he shined his brightest 3. When he did lose, he lost fighting with everything he had 4. He used his mind to plan for, adjust to, and psych out opponents that outmatched him physically. 5. No heavyweight before, or since, has his speed, reflexes, conditioning, footwork and deadly jab. Particularly in the 60s.

He was like different we’ve never seen like that and we will never see it. The real champion had a original story. I’ve been still watching it. It just seemed so amazing man. I love you…
