Some Plot holes i mentioned... 1) their is 15 minutes fight scene in train and many time jayaram was standing near Gandhi... Why can't he just say “menon is alive” ...it will take only 1 or 2 seconds naa ?? Why should he need to wait to show entire evidence of him being alive when the important informanion him being alive itself 2) 3) as a normal procedure, when a body is unidentifiable, DNA matching is done... Since the accident has not taken place in front of their eyes and it was also a kidnap, it is a normal procedure..but the famous spy’s and police forgot that procedure and assumed the burned child was jeeven without even investigationg wether their was a 2nd child in the wan 4) Gandhi brought n entire armed soldiers to capture menon and save himself and his wife, but decided he himself is enough to save the entire stadium with thousands of people and left the soldiers with his wife and took menon by himself to the stadium 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ 5) okay...may be gandhi is enough to stop them....BUT WHY THE HECK HE EVEN LET THEM MAKE AND PLANT THE BOMB ??? THey had already raided the bombs parts stored in Vaibhav‘s house, understood and discussed that “okay they are planning to bomb somewhere in chennai” and leave all the parts their, so that they can make the bomb, plant the bomb, and Gandhi can stop the bombing and cature them Red handeldy !!!!! WHAT ????? They didn't knew where they are planning to bomb so didn't do anything and waited to know the location...but the bomb itself is in front of them 👀👀👀...and tgey waited to catch them red hnded ???? “dei...5000 uyiru daa....”🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ i just watched 1 time in theatre but these big plot holes was clearly evident...don't know how many more are their when i rewatch it again 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🙏🙏🙏🙏

This CSK reference , Vijay old film references , Thalapathy Thalapathy cringe bgm are all just gimmicks. My hot take: Unlike most directors, VP doesn’t have any ‘signature’ move - a style of writing, nuance, depth or any USP that makes you say hey that’s a VP movie (apart from featuring Premji & the Chennai-28 gang). However you can see a clear intent, creation of a ‘mood’ and personal stamp with folks like Lokesh, GVM, Vetrimaaran etc. VP is the kind of guy who IMO will probably first come up with a ‘list of cool mass moments / highlight points / whistle-worthy sequences’ in mind and then weave a plot around these. It’s like strategically placing high moments to overwhelm audiences, get claps and just stay on the ‘surface level’ of things. Just when things get shitty and the poor writing starts showing up, you have a temporary distraction either in the form of a random cameo / pop culture reference or throwback to another film or actor. He just wants to ‘tick boxes’ and make a safe masala film. List of other movie inspirations / almost blatant imitations featured in the movie: - Dark Knight Rises : Bane’s intro and heist sequence - Mission Impossible movies - the face swap masks and other stunts - Vikram’s interval block ’unmasking’ sequence - Vikram-esque style of introducing the members of the ‘squad’ - Leo’s fight scene in the market where he is attacked by goons while his wife and kids are with him - Making father kill his own son in the ending : From Jailer - The whole clone thing, directly from ANIMAL.

GOAT Suriya’s View: I DIDNT LIKE IT The Good: 1. The De Aging concept which is first time to Indian cinema. Vijay looks so real. 2. The performance of Vijay. He is super cool as always and Jr Vijay is so casual and performs at his ease. 3. The reference points to VP’s earlier movies are whistle moments in theatres. 4. Prashanth has little scope to perform when compared to other artists. The Bad: 1. Lead artists like Sneha, Prabhu Deva, Laila, Ajmal are completely wasted. 2. The lists of supporting artists as seen in every VP movie. They are not needed in the movie at all considering the amount of screen space they share. The Ugly: 1. The biggest problem with GOAT is the story which is wafer thin unlike VP’s earlier movies. His movies have too many characters but they had an importance to the plot and movement to story. They had a story and an engaging screenplay. This movie called as a spy thriller, does not have any interesting scenes related to it. 2. The action sequences are not as engaging as one expects. The action choreography is something we have seen in earlier Vijay films especially the metro one. 3. Mohan , the so called villain has nothing to do in this film. Neither he has scope to perform nor does his character help in building the story. 4. Songs and BGM - Yuvan’s music is a major let down, both songs and BGM. Also the placement of songs which only tests our patience considering the length of the movie. Final Verdict: Paisa vasool for Vijay fans. You will definitely enjoy his screen presence and performance. But if you are looking for a VP movie, you will be completely disappointed. Rating - 2.5/5

VP said this movie is a Celebration of Vijay and achieved it. GOAT movie achieved it's Fan service, but editing and screenplay seem choppy and quite fast. Vijay did his part very well, VP tried it, but as a whole he certainly didn't give us a Quality movie. But the Entertainment at many moments of the film will work for most Tamil audience. GOAT is definitely not for Non-Tamil audience as some comic and high moments of the film seems more connected to the Tamil audience. 1 half lengthy, Film starts in 2nd half.

As a Vijay fan I would like to say about the movie the movie was good apart from some technical works that dealing and some references are not convincing and not required for big star like Vijay if the script would have better the movie will automatically take off and interesting thing will not be bored , first half few of the scenes are not required it may get drimmed and second of of the son Vijay and Mohan ,Prashanth,pd,Ajmal done their job perfectly climax is ok but that place they chosen not sinked.. overall 3.5/5 eventually music ysr has been done fantastic job Matta song was great good to see semma terrifying dance from our thalapathy credit goes to choreographers.

I beg to differ... After interval point, i couldnt connect with the film due to its illogical reason for going against his father.. the small boy was too cute, and VP established the bonding very well.. the same boy becoming villain is unacceptable and the reason is too silly (similar to Jailer movie).. i understand, vijay wanted to show his acting talent to potray as a full fledged villain..that is not wrong.. may be for that they could have come up with other reasons, may be a clone or something (similar like in Wolverine Movie: The Logan, that movie had Old Wolverine vs Cloned Wolverine).. Im not against Vijay playing villain.. he can, but just the reason was not acceptable.. In Mankatha, Ajith was full fledged villain, but the plot was convincing and screenplay was outstanding.. But here, it didnt worked.. The movie will be a decent hit due to cameos (similar to Jailer), hypes and technical work.. Even the screenplay was flat, and predictable.. I was expecting some brilliant writing like Mankatha/Maanadu.. Now im having doubt whether VP had any assistance in his script writing in those 2 movies.. Infact i think writer Liyakath Ali Khan was the main strength and contributed alot for the Maanadu script.. No doubt VP is a creative thinker and good director.. but he should have good writers with him.. GOAT would have been parralel to Mankatha/Maanadu if VP had hired some other good writers or again Liyakath with him..too bad.. There is a vijaykanth movie, Rajadurai directed by SAC..GOAT is copied from that movie.. The funny part is, Vijay himself didnt watch movie directed by his OWN father SAC, otherwise he would have rejected or modify the story when VP narrated it.. by right AGS should buy rights from SAC for using the story.. I dont know what SAC going to say.. He trashed LEO for the stupid flashback.. now for this movie, hmm lets wait and see.. Certainly the movie will be loved by Vijay fans, it had all the flavour for a Vijay fan to celebrate, but if the same amount of creativity shown in the script, it would have satisfy the general movie lovers too..

1) their is 15 minutes fight scene in train and many time jayaram was standing near Gandhi... Why can't he just say “menon is alive” ...it will take only 1 or 2 seconds naa ?? This movie is neither bad nor good for a second watch. The second half was really bad until the last 30 mins. The Jeevan character is killing so many innocent lives brutally and it’s not convincing with his back story and what he went through as a child. After all this, director is giving “reference” moments for this character and expecting everyone to enjoy those, example Trisha dance, halamathi steps etc.. at that point we hate this character to even enjoy those references! Probably hard core Vijay fans will just enjoy them brushing everything aside but as a normal 😅 Vijay fan I did not enjoy watching Veera character or his so called Vikram Vedha encounters. Anyway $100 is gone and my rant is over 😊

A fav Hollywood reviewer of mine once said, end of the day , a movie is an experiential event. It’s all about how the movie made feel at the end of the day. It varies from person to person. If Ryan Reynolds was an Indian director , and did a movie with Vijay, you get GOAT. The last time i had similar euphoria for a movie like this was for Deadpool 3. Unlike Nelson’s bare minimum effort or justice given to one of my fav genres. Thank god, VP saved me from that scenario for my other fav genres. Is it a perfect film ? No ! Is it an art film? Definitely not ! But did I have a wonderful time yes I did. The post credit scene was what hit the home run for me as I intend to watch it again becos I want to know how the movie is going to make me feel in the next watch becos of what felt like a decent entertaining spy thriller is now a sci fi film as well. I want to watch the movie from that perspective.

The politics of this films is extremely poor. Its not that Vijay has not played the bad guy in any of his previous films... Azhgiya Tamil Magan, Leo have had a darker shade of Vijay but none of them come close to Sanjay/Jeevan in this film.... In terms of the act of crime portrayed. We have Vijay who play a terrorist which is all good as he is in a double role also playing a good guy... From a team that made Maanadu and excellently blended humour and thriller in a high concept like time loop... I only fathom what went wrong with this one.... The film felt like the Director was soooo in love with celebrating Vijay that he forgot about the nuanced topic the film is treading on... We have a villian vijay who has just murdered a RAW officer... Dance to Spark and the audience is supposed to cheer... We have a Vijay who has been established as a terrorist dance in a nostalgia bait fan service song (that the director very orchestratedly placed) with Trisha just after he murdered an innocent indian girl post abducting her and demanding other terrorists to be let into the country.... and we are supposed to cheer for it.... We have a Vijay who has been established as a terrorist that is about to bomb blast an entire stadium of Indian people... Dance to Halamathi Habibo in the name of fan service and we are supposed to cheer for it... See I understand fan service.... But why does it need to happen through Vijay playing a terrorist character who is commiting anti national crimes. The audience in my theatre was numb.... They were shocked of the atrocity this movie was.... Not a sound... This was an audience that entered the theatre full of excitement to watch their hero who was going to be showcased as the Greatest of All time... Sadly just turned to be the Greatest Test of Patience.... And secondly... This is not Vijay's last few film for sure... The end credits revealed the same... So the audience getting sentimental and going easy on the film is only a manipulation PR being done by the production house.... They delivered a shit film with a Star actor who was in great form... And just wanted to lower the blow that comes towards them... By calling it a simple entertainer... Boss... 400 crores for a simple entertainer... Is a crime. Thirdly... And I take this very personally... U have a GOAT RAW Agent Vijay... Who without verification brings back a terrorist Vijay, who just conducted anti national acts of crime on one of the Indian Embassy right in front of your eyes... To India... Without Background verification... Escaping by calling the film a simple masala entertainer... Does not excuse anyone to showcase the Intelligence agency of my country as a joke.... Not only that... At many points of time in the film... The defence agency of our country is shown as incompetent... And the audience is expected to cheer at the "fan service". What is frustrating is... There is a great film potential idea here... With concepts like brainwashing done by terrorist organisations... Exploring the psychological implication of it... They could have made a much darker and grounded racy thriller that would have genuinely had the audience on their toes.... All the fanfare in the film only derails it and makes it intolerable... Especially with the excruciating runtime. From an actor who delivered politically right messaging with films like Thupakki, Mersal, Master and many other films... It was sad to see Vijay not rectifying the politically incorrectness in the film.
