@MoneyHoneyBunny

16 is a number a lot of people forget exactly how insanely stacked it was. Bobby Clarke? Marcel Dionne? I mean shit Marcel Dionne was 3rd all time in points for a while there, he's been passed by guys who played longer but, considering he played on some average and lousy teams his ENTIRE CAREER, his PPG... he's basically Gretzky if Gretzky played alone with no Messier Kurri Anderson and Lowe his entire career. I think it has to be Brett Hull though. After Gretzky, Brett is the highest goal scorer in any single season. If he had played through the entire 80s like Wayne, I truly believe he would have 1000 NHL goals. He played half of his career during the defensive trap era where noone could even score 50 goals... Id say its a toss up between Wayne Brett and Ovechkin who's the true best goal scorer ever.

The fact that Sundin is from Stockholm (Capitol of Sweden) and played for Djurgården (the most dispised team in Sweden because it's a "big city" team and most of the hockey Community in Sweden is based in smaller citys and rural areas of the country with big inferiority complex towards the capitol) played a big roll in that poll. Had Sundin been from say, Skellefteå or Karlstad (smaller citys with a strong hockey identity) I doubt Datsyuk would have won. Steve Larmer is a guy that only played 14 years I believe, retiring at 34, but had over 1000 points and a point per game. Thats off the top of my head, I cover hockey statistics as a career. When asked why he retired so soon after 94-95 he said he felt he wasnt at the top of his game anymore, and he could have kept playing to pad his stats but, he was happy. You gotta respect that, he had to know playing even 2 or 3 more years would have secured him a spot in the hall of fame. He was a PPG consistent scorer for 13 of the 14 years until the lockout year, he constantly made playoff runs with the Blackhawks but sadly, they never got there in the 80s due to Calgary and Edmonton dominating that era, but he won it with the Rangers and was great that season. He's the epitome of a guy who should be a hall of famer, if he played longer, like say, Rod Brind Amour and Dave Andreychuk did.... Dave is in, Rod likely someday will be, but Steve retired too soon to have that spot.

Looks like a fairly well researched list. I would agree with most choices. I think #2 is Doug Harvey, #7 is Ted Lindsay, #13 is Pavel Datsyuk, #27 is Scott Neidermayer, #34 is John Vanbiesbrouck, and #97 is Connor McDavid (Roenick wore #27 for many of his best years). Also who is Sergei Frederov? I am a lifetime Red Wings fan and I think #91 should be Sergei Fedorov.

Mats Sundin has more goals, assists, points. He has like 500-600 more points than Datsyuk. Maybe if they were closer in points but Sundin was much more productive. @@sojiroseta98 You are in the minority. All I been doing is watching videos or reading articles on this topic and literally no video or article has Datsyuk at #13 but multiple have Sundin. He was the more productive player, played more games, scored more goals, assisted more goals, had nearly twice as many game winning goals, more power play goals, made more all star games. Only thing Pavel has on him is +/- rating and more hardware and Pavel was obviously better 2 way with his Selke trophies. And I'm from Detroit, I'm a Red Wings fan.
