The Hollywood musical is not in a really good place. More about industry trends than anything else. The reasons behind #Oscarssowhite is part of those industry trends. LGBTQ rights are probably 50 years behind the racial issues, and while this song goes beyond LGBTQ issues, it takes a very firm stand on them that would hurt movie ticket sales and result in cries of “Hollywood morality.” All about the money, unfortunately.

And then the song ends and everything goes back to normal and you feel like shit and worthless again. This song makes me sad and tear up but also, for the time I listen to it, I do feel like I can accept the way I am. But reality is far more cruel to some of us than others. Honestly, I hate my life. I hate my body, my skin, my luck, how my relationship to my first love is fallin apart. I feel hopeless, lost, confused, depressed and desperate. Sometimes I wish I had invisibility powers. Lol, if my family knew how fecked up I really was. But I move on, ignore how I feel and pretend everything is okay. It works for a while. Then I'm here, ranting to some random people online because I know it's far easier than talking to people I know. I love this movie, this song in particular. Lettie is my favorite and her confidence is the best! I hope everyone is having a great day/night. 😊

When I first heard this song I was in tears... Growing up I was bullied for the way I looked and acted from the time I was in 4th grade all the way until the last years I was in highschool. It leaves such a huge impression on a child that stays with you. I'm nearly 23 and I still don't always believe people when they say I'm beautiful. I've had such low self esteem and insecurities due to ignorant kids that thought it was funny to tease and make fun of a someone. Seeing this video hit me hard and I can't wait to see this movie... Anyone who's out there that's been told you are a freak, been bullied for how you act and look- don't ever listen to those words. You're beautiful inside and out and never forget that. Spread the love and support to all those out there

The first time I watched this movie, I realized that show was filled with people who are all different in shape and size, and all that but when I saw zendaya i was confused because I don’t have a racist mind until I realized today that she was there cause she was black and the movie was about people being different, the sad part is tho, in real life in the 1800’s, people who are different went through much worse stuff.

this song fills my heart, because a lot of people are to scared to show their beautiful selves. On the other hand some people can be rude and hateful. For people who feel this way, keep this line from this song in mind, "when sharperst words wanna cut me down" that line shows that those people are trying to hurt you. If you let them, that means your going to let them win, your strong and deserve the world. Make sure you know that. ❤️
