I've played Gungeon for over 500 hours now. It never gets old. There's just so much variety, it's extremely charming, it's adorable, and it plays so well. It's hard to go to other rogue-lites after playing it because it controls so much better than other games. I seriously consider it the perfect rogue-lite game and it's going to be hard to top.

It'd be worth talking about how the dodge roll shapes Enter The Gungeon's bullet hell. It allows for unique kinds of attacks to be thrown at the player, while being easy to pick up and useful to master. (Ser Manuel sends his regards.)

I'm biased towards Gungeon. I agree it is one of the Greatest of all time. Dodge Roll did an amazing job, you can clearly see the love and passion on this game, and they truly killed it with extending its life-span with Updates and FREE DLCs. Truly a masterpiece. I love this in-depth videos. You do a great job of showing what the game TRULY is and making it shine even more. You brought back that excitement of playing a new roguelite/re-playing a masterpiece in me. You can clearly see the love and passion you have towards these games and I really enjoy that. Your opinion is a very fruitful opinion to hear. The effort you put on your videos clearly shows (loved being part of the video making live). Keep up the GREAT work. Nice video! One ‘difficulty modifier’ could be the hero’s shrine. After you kill the past you can activate the shrine in the spawn room to set your curse to 9 for the run! You talked about curse but I think this is more modified because there’s no reward for it.
@Burr_
@Burr_ Жыл бұрын
Yea I didn't wanna make the video too long but that shrine is definitely a huge difficulty enhancer and everything becomes jammed. I might try one or two of those runs once i get all the achievements. Thanks for watching and supporting as well!
@tijnhoogendam8728

There is actually more nuance to curse... Firstly, Jammed enemies drop more casings when killed and secondly items such as the 6th chamber can add buffs to each curse you have.

Arguably, in terms of difficulty, you can even give yourself little challenges, like only using your starter gun, not picking up passives or actives, never picking up ammo etc. I've been playing Gungeon for a very, VERY long time now and I still am, I usually just do normal runs trying to get the most fun synergies and combinations with The Pilot as he is the best character by far to get insane stuff over a longer run, but sometimes I do challenge myself a little by playing with the run modifiers or just by giving myself little challenges to keep me on my toes. By the way, the chill run modifiers like blessed and x2 speed aren't too challenging by themselves but they can be HELL with other challenges: Daisuke's Challenge at x2 speed or a blessed and cursed run at the same time when you roll a cursed weapon and the Lord of the Jammed appears and sticks around for the entire chamber, or even everything all at once if you're truly deranged. Sure there aren't a ton of ingame ways to challenge the player but you're free to, uhh, customize your suffering, and that's pretty cool.

I remember purchasing Playstation plus and gaining access to a library of free games, one of these was Enter the Gungeon I downloaded it, but it ended up sitting in my library for months, collecting dust. Eventually I found myself bored, and decided to finally try the game. I fell in love. I'd never played many roguelikes before, so it served as my introduction to the genre. I instantly became addicted to the thrill of jumping back into a run, excited for new outcomes, and it never disappointed me. The game is incredibly challenging, but like most, if you're able to get the rhythm down and take note of how it's mechanics can work, you will succeed. Unlike most games, death in the gungeon actually feels like it was your fault, and while it's definitely a bit soul crushing, it still leaves you wanting more. The bosses were a definite highlight to this, learning their attack patterns and how to counter them with certain guns is incredibly rewarding, even moreso if you can no-hit. I adored the interactions between the npcs and the player, and I almost felt a little attached to them, if I'm being honest. Except Daisuke, he can go to hell. The gun puns oddly never felt forced or shoehorned in, rather perfectly placed and written so that each one never got old. Fast forward a bit, I completed the game 100% achievements a couple months back, unlocked every gun and item, and still occasionally hop back in to have a taste of the game's wonderfully crafted design. I'm gonna be diving deeper into the genre, starting with hades in a couple of days. So to conclude, Enter the gungeon is a masterfully crafted game with beautiful design, mechanics, and gameplay. I cannot understate how much I recommend it.

I like this style of in-depth review. 1: it really shows your passion for the game - how much you have learned about the game but also how you talk about the game. When it is a game you enjoy, your speech pattern is much more animated and lively. A viewer can easily hear how much you love the game, which is much more inspiring and likely to get someone to give the game a try. 2: the in-depth video gives a much better impression of the game. The smaller review videos go into gameplay a little, but this longer video showcases the game in a way that gives a better idea of if a viewer will enjoy the game. In all of your videos, the development/history/devs section is so interesting. While it doesn't usually talk about gameplay (so not as useful for deciding if the game is for me), it is still a fun section that allows viewers to learn what actually went into the games that they all love. Most video won't go into this section, so I find it nice that you always add it. Nice to see another video on the main channel.

You talked a lot about making the game harder, which in my opinion, the game is plenty hard on its own at the start, and Not enough about how one can make it easier while still being able to unlock things AND progress, with Rainbow Runs. Basically built the bullet and unlocked the final gungeoneer all in rainbow mode. Did like 300 runs exclusively in rainbow mode and didnt turn it off til i wanted to unlock Finished Gun. 300 more runs later i have all achievments and finished Gun, and i still cant stop playing. Even thinking ive unlocked everyrhing, i recently learned you can unlock alternate skins for the starting guns of other characters, spuring me to playing this game once again with new goals and reigniting my love for this game for 300 more runs. I dont think i could ever get tired of this masterpiece of a game. Great video man

Gungeon holds such a high standard that I doubt any other game devs can top it, free dlcs, a decently cheap game, and SO much content and a really smooth playthrough. please you absolutely MUST try voidigo on steam. It's a challenging, chaotic, bullet hell roguelike where you can absolutely deck out your character just to be slaughtered ): and it's fantastic. it has SOOO much stuff, weapons, powerups, characters, synergies, and it goes on. this isn't even bringing up it's game-changing boss mechanic (weirdly like monster hunter). it's arstyle is also absolutely stunning and everything is just so full of life and creative. I have over 100+ hours in it and i still learn things every single run, and boy does the gameplay get brutal. i can guarantee you'll love it, you just have to try it it's so damn underrated and just flies under the radar of so many people, it's the Eldorado of gaming with a literal 98% positive review rate (the highest i've ever seen) and most of the negative reviews are from years back when it wasn't half as fleshed out.

Best thing that came out from this game was the memes channel on the official discord server. They will bully any new members that post gungeon memes until they (normally) leave, and I have been invited into furry porn servers from there. Very nice place and community

In my rougelik(t)e tier list Gungeon is SSS top tier. I just love it and I really feel relieved that it's not forgotten. For me, EtG is like Isaac, but just BETTER. More comfortable movement, more various items and synergies, bosses are much more fair ( *cough* *cough* DeLiRiUm *cough* ), more interesting mechanics in general. The only thing tBoI better at is progression. In Isaac you progress smoothly. In the first run all you have to do is clear 6 floors and kill mom with Isaac, when in the endgame you have 30+ chars and at least 6 final bosses to deal with, when in Gungeon you can... forge Bullet that can kill the past... kill the past... or Lich... on 6 characters... So if EtG had 1) at least one more alternative path 2) more interesting unlocks (acquiring them even after a bossfight just hits different than buying them in the hub) ,, it would be an ideal rougelike for me :)

@@Burr_ and I hope modding community will make perfect) even taking into account that EtG is not connected to the steam workshop (which means that like half of the players don't even know that ModTheGungeon exists), they already did like 3+ big expansions with extra floors and bosses

You have to complete the sixth chamber with the paradox and then with the gunslinger to actually finish the game

Enter the Gungeon is like a tale of hate and love. At first I loved the game; how varied, funny and goofy it was made me like the game a lot. But over the time, and tons and tons of stuff came into the game making it a literal mess. I mean, it's complete chaos. There's too many stuff (too many bad/useless items/guns), too much RNG involved (runs can be piss easy or shit hard just because of what the game decides to throw to you), and in general there are a lot of non-clear and broken mechanics that can make the game either fun as hell, or a walk in hell. One day I'll give the Gungeon another SHOT (badum tss), but the last time I played it leaved me with a bitter taste in my mouth, and I'm sad that it did.

EtG was my first real roguelike game that I played at all, and I fell in love with the genre immediately - in my opinion, it stands up there with Binding of Isaac, Hades, Slay the Spire, and Risk of Rain 2 as one of the best examples of what a roguelike at its best can be.

@@Burr_ It is amazing, but incredibly difficult. I think if you go in completely blind and use minimal help you can get maybe like 300+ hours just to explore and complete everything. My only request if you ever play noita is to never give up on the game. If you think that its too hard or unfair, give it another shot. Noita is amazing, its just that a lot of people will never discover even 50% of the secret content. Basically, its a great game, deserves more attention, very hard, but is filled to the brim with content.
