I’m starting med school soon and have wanted to go into neurosurgery as I’ve been interested in neuropsych for the past few years and am good with my hands, but I have been afraid of being given that awesome responsibility and failing my patients. I have had 7 surgeries on my spine and have NEVER had a Neurosurgeon even suggest an Anterior Lumbar Discectomy Fusion! Those are normally done Posteriorly because it is much easier to reach the discs and avoid those ligaments and nerves that can cause paralysis. I am so glad I now live in Chicago and thank God I have an amazing and competent Neurosurgeon!!!

If you listen to the podcast Dr Death they talk to Dr. Kirby and he gives a first person account of what happened. Also I just finished a docuseries last night where they interviewed Dr Kirby, Dr Henderson, Michelle Shugart (the prosecutor), the patients themselves and the details will make you sick. The hospitals and the Texas medical board failed in this case. Dr Kirby and Dr Henderson were doing everything possible to get this guy’s license revoked but the hospitals were 1) money hungry and 2) scared Duntch would sue them which would cost them more than just letting him resign. It also saved the hospital from having their reputation being sullied by just having him resign. This video missed a lot of those details. Also the Texas medical board kept giving excuses that they needed more proof and that these botched procedures weren’t enough. They claimed it wasn’t proof of “negligence” but just a mistake; an oopsie. Side note it was heartbreaking to watch the interviews with the patients. They live in constant pain, some paralyzed in different ways and others just recently died at fairly you ages. Life in prison for this doctor is nothing compared to what these people endure.

I’m honestly baffled a few others haven’t been charged!! The fact sooooo many just watched him do these things, people who were knowledgeable and knew what he was doing, literally watching him operate… they did NOTHING , a few did report , but he should’ve been stopped mid surgery, multiple times ! I’m sure there were a few where there was simply no possibility of someone scrubbing up and finishing or just closing. That’s only 1-3 out of 30 ! If I had more time, I would build a case, cause OTHERS ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE It would be some what easy too, cause of the couple TV shows and highlighted shock across the medical community. I know other Attorneys would love to team on this.

I have a spinal injury. I go to a Chiropractor once a month. Sometimes we wonder if I should go to surgery, but we have to consider the financial situation (Surgerys aren't cheap) and the final result (Cheaper than going to the chiropractor in a long term). You should do one on South Africa's Doctor Death who's name is Dr Wouter Basson. The information you find online is only what is known, but the guy used to drop people out of helicopters to test how high up they could be that the patient would bounce vs when they wouldn't bounce, he was experimenting with new torture techniques, this was one of them...the rest online is should be enough for a video, that's a personal story from someone who knew him.

hey i have a video suggestion for you. it’s about my father. he was in a helicopter crash in 1986 in the US marine corps and he saved some life’s that day and he got the highest peace time award that day the navy and marine cope medal. that medal is rarer to get than the medal of honor because it is the highest peace time medal and in combat it is two or three below the medal of honor. less people have it than the medal of honor and i think it would be a really great video to do on the channel. you can find his citation on the medal of valor page which only does that medal and other medals like the medal of honor edit:forgot to mention his name is patrick melton
