Well said Godfrey, being a self employed person in the steel iron and mining industry, I am a little confused over the energy policy of the UK (have we got one?). Wind turbines might keep the LEDs on but they won't roast all the turkey's at the same time. I would like to take the opportunity to remind your audience that there is plenty of coal in the ground of the UK that can be mined when the money printing stops. I'm glad you mentioned the (rather short) life span of wind turbines. In my view, most of the ordinary people who support these things are totally unaware of this crucial aspect, because you hear them going on all the time about how wind is "free". But if after 11 or 12 ridiculously short years the whole process of mining, smelting, construction, transportation and building has to be repeated at huge cost, then the idea that these are "renewables" is proven to be a total fallacy.

I'd like to suggest that Brighton which is a green constituency, be isolated from the grid and supplied totally from windfarms erected on the south downs just north of the city and also offshore wind farms. This would act as a useful real world test for wind power. It could be run over say a five year period to see and eventually assess how the green city of Brighton fares off grid.

I live in the Northern Highlands. We already have a very large wind farm to the North East of the village and are now waiting for 8 new wind farms in planning . If they get passed the whole area will be surrounded by turbines, the highest onshore turbines so far erected in the UK at 200 m high or 750 ft. Many of us Will loose our property and land . It's terrible. If they had to plonk these awful monstrosities in such a beautiful area , why not plonk them in a more remote place instead of destroying such a lovely community. For us in the Village of Rosehall, it's the Highland Clearances all over again ! Incidentally, they are calling it a "Green Energy Park " !

@@paulineshone6069 we've been fighting one wind farm behind us for 3 years. The energy company keeps going back to the Highland planning department with subtle changes to try and get it through. We have a huge amount of people in the village and beyond fighting against the destruction of the 150 collosal turbines around the village. As I said before there is 8 energy companies now trying to surround the village. The EMF from these turbines will make the area totally uninhabitable. We're in the hands of the Highland Council . It's very worrying as we don't know our future !

Why are we not using hydropower? No one ever seems to talk about it. We are an island. Can someone not invent something? We need our own Elon Musk in the UK. We don't ever seen to hear about engineering entrepreneurs? All about AI. Yet we need some practical solution to what we can run through our boilers, if we are not using gas. Stopping everything before we have the solutions does not seem to be a smart, efficient or economic benefit to anyone in the UK. Things should run in parallel surely to change over, knowing that fuel is effecient. This is a terrible government, taking all their cues from WEF.

Prescient talk this morning Godfrey. It so happens that right now, renewables provide merely 8% of UK electrical demand. Fossil fuels provide the lion's share at 51% and we are importing 15% at £80 per Mega Watt. Essentially, were it not for natural gas, the lights would now be off and the grid would be in a major blackout. It doesn't matter how many windmills you build, they don't work when the wind doesn't blow. This net zero palaver is destined to cripple the UK beyond measure.

Everyone knows about the wasteful wind Turbines. The solution to our power needs was put forward in the 1960s and it was Tidal Barriers on our rivers. If they were built it would provide thousands of well paid jobs in deprived areas of the north Wales and Scotland. Unfortunately the slave system requires low wages to keep the masses down and the rich well secured. Covering farm land with in efficient solar panels is not the answer they should be on every roof top rather than on the land.

Every single turbine has thousands of tonnes of ‘green’ concrete in its base. Every turbine/wind farm has to have an absolute fortune spent on it in vibration monitoring alone because the damned things shake themselves to bits. At end of life all of that ‘green’ concrete is broken up and dumped in landfill. I use ‘green’ in quotes because it isn’t, thousands of tonnes of CO2 (ooh, CO2), are dumped into the atmosphere.

In Sweden we have 5300 wind turbines, Here an independent investigation has been carried out where the result is that No Company makes a profit and this despite all the government billions in subsidies, Now there is a threat of major power outages due to the fact that Wind power's electricity is not continuous + decommissioned Nuclear power's effect has the systems are very weak, What they often forget is that you must always have strong Basic power from nuclear power, water, oil, gas, coal, to be able to drive the electricity from Wind power!

You also pay a daily fee for each of gas and electricity which is now being used as a continuous profit maker rising steadily in line with power providers bonuses.

I think everbody has been saying octopus energy is cheaper 🤔 I wonder if the price something to do with this? Not wind being cheaper I mean but desigjed to be attractive to increase customers so they can grow the scam.

In my south midlands area we have had several days with no wind enough to turn the damn things so at night there is no renewables output at all.

We all want cleaner air but we have been set these net zero targets no one knows how much it will cost, no one knows if its achievable or even worthwhile. We are putting most of our eggs in the wind & solar basket which are unreliable & we have shutdown most of our fossil fuel production when green energy is years away from coping on its own. If you moving house you do not pull down your old house until your new house is ready.
