Perfect time to ride. The roads were not that crowded with cars. And you spread holiday cheer, well done. Fellow senior citizen guy here.

I think you should absolutely go for it!! My only regret is that I spent too much time just pondering whether to take the plunge or not. I was 64 when I started to teach myself. Almost 66 now and all I want to do is get out and ride. (Winter sucks) The V11 is a nice wheel and could get you started and although I have not ridden the S-16 Pro or the Begode Falcon I think those would be good to learn on as well. My first wheel was the King Song 16XS and it proved to be a solid beginner wheel. I regret trading that wheel, I miss it! After learning to ride I wanted suspension which the 16XS didn't have and so I upgraded to the King Song S22. If you do give it a go, let me know what you buy and how you are progressing!!!! My wheels have all been ordered through EWheels.com and those guys are fantastic!! I remember at the beginning when I wanted to dive in and get started, I had no idea what to buy and where to buy it! Just want you to know that when learning to ride it will be a little exhausting. Great work out if that is what you are up for! After learning how to get on, ride and get off the wheel under control then it becomes a piece of cake! Just don't get discouraged and stick with it. Hope you take the plunge and wishing you success if you do! Worth every penny spent and every minute learning!!

@wntofly thank you a lot for all the advice. I will definitely keep you updated. Any advice on what pads are the most important at first? Or what about a helmet, yes or no?

@@chadm5263 I would certainly suggest you get gear!! Going under 5 miles an hour you can most likely run out about all your mishaps. Going 10 miles an hour depends on your physical condition and ability. I got surprised once on grass in my back yard learning how to transition from standing to seated riding when I lost control and went down. I could not believe that how fast I hit the ground with my head. I was not wearing a helmet, and YES it left a mark! My head missed some large rocks by about 18 inches. Probably only going 6-8 miles an hour. So, any kind of helmet is YES!! Bicycle helmet to start but plan on getting a full-face helmet as soon as you can swing it. (Protect your face and chin) Knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards should all be worn as well. Ewheels used to include wrist guards with your new wheel purchase, but don't know if they still do or not. Down the road when you are up and rolling (smiling ear to ear btw) you might want to consider body armor in either a mesh suit or in a jacket style for when you are going 20 mph or more. I know this all-costs money you probably didn't want to part with but WHEN (not if) you take a tumble you will be very glad you had something between the ground and your flesh!! As you learn and your skills improve you will be less likely to have a spill but while you are learning.....Like Jimmy Chang says.......All the gear, All the time!! 😜

@wntofly thank you again. I feel that if I'm going to drop 2k on a wheel, I don't mind investing a few hundred more on the safety stuff. I can't afford a broken face or wrist or whatever, lol. Im looking at it all as an investment. I just want to take up a hobby that will get me off a computer and out of the house moving around. EUCs caught my interest. I'll keep you updated. My name is Chad, by the way.

@@chadm5263 Hi Chad, you are exactly right! Invest in your safety, cheaper than one visit to the ER! It's a great sport/hobby to get you out of the house for sure. For me in addition to some great exercise I have discovered so much here around the area I live that I had no idea was here and never knew existed! So much you can do and see on a EUC! Huh? Kinda rhymes a little, doesn't it? Keep me posted! Jim
