Theodore Geisel aka Dr. Seuss had German parents who raised him in America; I think he might've wanted the German version of his story completely different from what he had written in English, it should be no doubt that he was doing the same thing with the production of the animated version, you know: the version with the Chuck Jones animation.

Actually it's very interesting how you discuss about translation, 'cause here in Russia many people complain about shitty translations like "About Time" - "My Boyfriend is Crazy" or "Over the Hedge" - "Forest Bros", "Shark tale" - "Underwater Bros", "Alpha and Omega" - "Fanged Bros 3D"

It's the same thing in French, the problem is that literally translating a lot of titles sounds super ridiculous. Calling Jaws - Machoire, is just ridiculous sounding in French. 12 Angry Men sounds really impactful in English, but calling it - 12 gars faché evokes the sentiment of 12 dudes in a bar having a brawl. So there's no way to win really.

6:55 in polish Bąk also refers to the horsefly (i think thats how they're called in english)

I think the live-action version with Jim Carrey has a more iconic title in Poland. "Grinch: Świąt Nie Będzie" (Grinch: There Won't Be Christmas)

Like a fart roaring in your ear The Polish word "Bąk" Indeed translates literally as "Fart"(because that's what the word means), however the word "Bąk" also means "Bumblebee" or "insect" in some contexts. It depends on the context of the sentence and I don't know about you but "Like an insect roaring in your ear" is more logical given the context. Don't worry, you can trust me on this I'm Polish 🇵🇱 Ale muszę przyznać Trochę śmiechłem jak zobaczyłem tą pomyłke :)
