Yeah, this is basically how someone fixed tPM for me, they just switched out a few aliens' voices with scrambled versions that sounded like alien speech, and suddenly it's like ANH's subtitles and it's better :) They did rewrite some of the dialog in the subtitles because they had the freedom to do that, though, so maybe that was part of what won me over. Funny how much rides on the language in the prequels

Dear Cineglot! As a Greek, I have to clarify some things. First, Spíros Zoupános, Spongebob's first Greek voice actor, was having trouble maintaining the voice, as he mentioned in an interview, stating that it is too difficult to maintain it for a long acting time. The director was telling him not to forget the voice because in difficult scenes it was getting lower. And he also mentioned that, compared to Tom Kenny's voice, his own voice was much lower. Also, it's βγάλω,not φγάλω. Nice video, btw! Pardon my incorrect English.

Your English is leaps and miles better than my Greek, thank you so much for that information, it's really cool to know!

Latin american here first, the oreste thing just diesn't make sense. And second, i think the most interesting thing about the spanish dubs (latam and spain) is that they both changed some character names, but to the same names, which isn't very common, they usually either keep the original name or change it but both have a different one. I don't know wether this was an order from nickelodeon or just a coincidence, i believe it's the first cause spain had 2 dubs for season 1 and the first one kept the original names, but i dont know for sure. By the way, most older cartoon characters do share the same changed name in both regions cause spanish from spain wasn't an independent dub until around the 70s

Also, some corrections for the Hungarian from 3:42 : Karadé -> Karaté béhéhénz -> pé-hé-hénz ("pénz" with stutter) | hunger pains -> mo-mo-money bihilágos! -> vi-hi-lágos? ("világos" with stutter, kinda) | This is crazy! -> [Is that] clear? Javás -> Nyomás

This is amazing! Based on the language you speak, wih this cut you get a different perspective on the saga. E.g. I get to understand basically all the love drama, the political affair with the senate and the dark side stuff, while the Jedi are the truly alien faction. I've never thought I'd say it, but go Palpatine!

as a Czech person, I'm a little disapointed that you didn't use our language. Our spongebob's voice is so different that I almost had a heart attack when I heard how he is supposed to sound like. And, if I remember correctly, our west/east joke is a bit more unique imo, Patrick misreads west (západ) as toilet (záchod), but that still makes no sense, like what made patrick think that there was a toilet to the east? atleast toilet is a funny word

21:07 btw, in Russian, we use the word 'фан' which literally means 'fun' as a noun or 'фаниться' as a verb. This is an anglicism. But the first season was in the early 2000s, and I doubt that the word existed back then lol

In the German dub many translations of puns rely on randomness and I love it. For example, "ghosts, ghosts, toast" becomes "Geister, Geister, Weißbrot" (ghosts, ghosts, white bread) and for me it's a thousand times funnier (Same with Wosten)

One thing I always loved about the German version of the FUN song (apart from the fact that they literally use the word shit in the second verse), is that in the first verse, they use "endlich"(finally) for the Word beginning with N. The letter N is pronounced the same in German as it is in English, so technically, they wrote the word as N-dlich, and I love that.

Tbh you really think us frenchies have enough respect for the english language to try and actually translate yours puns ? Nah we just throw a bunch of stuff that sounds silly enough and hope the kids are too dumb to notice and still laugh. And I mean spongebob and plankton's voices aren't really that similar, plankton has a deeper voice and it's pretty different in the pitch on most words. Also Squidwards' voice is pretty surprising for you, but just imagine how weird the english version sounds to us lol.

The best joke that only exists in German: when Mr Krabs is being haunted by (is his name The Flying Dutchman in English?) Mr krabs claims to be someone else. Looks over to a flower on the nightstand and gives a fake name. I believe in English it is just a random name? But in German he says Benjamin Blümchen (Benjamin flower) which is the name of a very famous German kids show character, a big grey elephant. Every kid that watched SpongeBob for sure knows Benjamin Blümchen. And they share the same voice actor. So when the red krab from the sponge show says the name of big elephant with his voice, it’s comedic gold. And it made my 4 year old brain explode and realize what voice acting is

Is it just me, or is the picture of Star Platinum in the thumbnail taken from Diamond is Unbreakable? Cause to me it looks a bit flat and oversimplified, which is pretty common for DiU compared to the other seasons, again, at least to me. Edit: 26:42 It's the French, there's a reason why nobody likes them/hs Edit Edit: Okay, the Greek version is at least so bad it's almost funny again, VA sounds like he said "You guys really want me to say THIS SH*T?!" Edit Edit Edit: 28:17 Might just be because different languages have different speech melodies, and they change it up so it just flows better.

I think the "Wosten" Translation works because you just assume Patrick can't read. I don't think the sandy joke for German kids is that hard to get since sandy=sandig sand=Sand. Also words like "Handy" are widely known and English is tought relatively early in school. Looking forward to more of your videos!

Well I'm german and I absolutly adore the german dub of the show Sadly most of the Voice Actors from the past of the series are dead or moved on. But Santiago Ziesmer the german voice of Spongebob is in the show to this day and loves his job and the show ,he's pretty famous for that and being one of the best voice actors in germany. Oh and I saw a little mistake in the Subtitles of the Fun Song ,because Plankton actually sings "U is for Unfair Fight" and I love it . And in the same song they say shit yeah I'm not joking it's super funny .

As a german I wanna add: 10:03 As much as "Sandy" doesnt mean anything in german, "Sand" does mean exactly what Spongebob portrays there: Sand. The joke still doesn't work very well for children I might add, because our "Sand" doesn't sound like the english "Sand". 29:05 "Booster Seat" might be cooler, but "Stilts" is simply funnier because it makes fun of Planktons height Thx for showcasing the different versions of spongebob!
@cineglotis2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your view! I'm pretty sure that booster seat in this context means the seats you give to babies at the dinner table. Thus why Russian and Turkish call it a baby seat.

As a Slovak I'm greatful, you've chosen our language, although I'm not so proud about our irl separatistic ideas. Fun fact: Jango was dubbed by an actor with the family name "Kroner", which is kind of related to the German language. It wasn't the same guy in German, but hell it surprised me, how close their voices were to each other in that line. Almost didn't notice the change, as I, myself, live in Germany. And yes, Marián Slovák, is well known as an actor overal. And his wonderful Bass-voice is very famous. Those famously bad scenes with Anakin and Padme sound much better, with the romanian passion in their voices. And for the "High ground" - it is tactically in war mostly an advantage. In conflicts, armies want to keep and occupy the high ground. It brings a lot of pros... but I totally agree with you, since I wasn't rly interessted in the war tactics and a lot of viewers aren't as well, that the German version is much more understandable.

As a german, i couldn‘t be happier about your decision. I grew up watching the prequels dubbed, they basically have cult status for me and many others. In part, the german dub even fixes some slight problems left in the original dialogue. For instance, the line „Only a Sith deals in absolutes“ that has been memed to death because Obi-Wan used an absolute statement while simultaneously condemning it. In german, he says: „Nur ein Sith kennt nichts als Extreme = Only a Sith *knows* *nothing* *but* extremes/absolutes“ ,which is exactly the point Obi-Wan was trying to make without making him sound like a hypocrite.

yeah, no, it definitely WASN'T because of that that Latin Anakin says "destroy", it's because Latin dubs are never allowed to say "death" or anything like that, and they always say "destroy" instead. Pretty childish, somewhat annoying once you realize it, but in this case a happy coincidence haha
