Yeah, the Grinch believed that if he stole all of the Whos gifts then they would be miserable just like him but only after learning that Christmas didn't come in a store he was able to let go of the hate he had in his heart for so many years. The Grinch was an outsider of WhoVille given how he was so different from everyone else and unable to be accepted he ran away from home to live alone while slowly descending into madness and being a jerk to the Whos for the fun of it.

I actually did my research on what the Grinch is and I found that he is a different type of Who. His features resemble that of a Who very clearly if you look closely. I think being different from all the other Whos didn't help him with feeling isolated either.

In the movie it didn't help the mayor bullied him when he was a kid, then when the Grinch came back the mayor denied doing anything and bullies him again. Honestly that can cause anyone to be "evil" and I use quotations loosely.

I loved your Suess-style rhyming intro & summary! 😂😂 I think the very different looks shows the Grinch is a different species than the Whos, but Suess never gave them a name. He did create many kinds of people & creatures in his books, & I always loved how Whoville exists on a world that's in a speck of dust inside a world where animals talk to each other & when an elephant sits on a bird egg it makes a bird/elephant hybrid. Horton Hears a Who was always one of my favorite Suess stories.

Say what you want about the Ron Howard movie, people, I liked it. Isaac, I'm surprised you didn't talk about Cindy Lou in the live action movie. Other than being adorable beyond words, I like to think her sweet personality, her innocence, and her pure heart had an effect on the Grinch. She cared about him when everyone else pretty much treated him with indifference.

So Max might have been a puppy given as a gift then thrown away when he wasn't wanted anymore. Hence, why Max is so loyal despite the Grinch being who he is. Im personaly on the fence with it. Cause you dont really see animals in that world. You dont see dogs other than max.

Issac, my boy, YOU ARE CORRECT!!! In the 2000 film How the Grinch stole Christmas, Cindy Lou's father, Lou, told his daughter that the Grinch isn't a Who. Cindy asks what he is, and Lou confirms that the Grinch is just that, a What.

Thank you for posting this! I'm even glad you included a backstory for Max the dog. I know in the 1966 cartoon Max's origin was never explained. However in the 2000 movie the Grinch made a comment about how wasteful the whos were. He gets all their trash by the way. So until you mentioned a book about Max I just assumed that some Who child got him as a Christmas present then got tired of him quickly. Then poor Max was rescued from the Grinch when he got dumped.

As a kid, I viewed the Grinch as this mean old grump who stole the Christmas possessions from the Whos but as an adult, I can see why the Grinch was so mean. The Grinch was a complex individual who sadly lost his parents at a young age and was the outsider in WhoVille given how he was green, hairy, and unusual. After he ran away from WhoVille, the citizens just simply made him as a "boogeyman" where the strange hermit living high on top of Mt. Crumpet and never bothered to reach out to him.

So my sister brought up this interesting theory. So the Grinch and the Whos live on a snowflake and the Whos in Horton hears a Who the Whos are on a truffula flower and in the Lorax the Lorax wants to protect the truffula tress. So she suggested that the Dr.Suess universe connects together. Plus the Grinch met The Cat and The Hat before as you've shown. This would be a neat video I think if you can support this Issac!

Anything about the theroy that ties into Horton? The Whos make so much noise to delcare their presence. And it became part of the Christmas celebration or might even be where it came from. Hence why instruments seem to be popular gifts. Therefore they make all that racket to try to share that joy with the world beyond their own. But the Grinch due to being a outsider doesn't understand the tradition.
