The fact that these Grizzlies were as competitive as they were for a pretty long time despite the ridiculous amount of boneheaded draft picks, trades, and signings by their front office is kind of impressive. If they even got half of those mistakes right, it's not far fetched to suggest that they would've at least made it to the Finals once.
@Dr._is_sleepy8 ай бұрын
I mean they get Kawhi(and alternate version Kawhi finds a way to shoot) and Harden like they might honestly be a dynasty. Gasol, Zbo, Kawhi, Conley, Harden would win 2 chips at least as a 2000s team.

3 series: 2-1 OKC. 19 games: 10-9 MEM. 7 of the 19 games went to OT. I'm not sure if any other 3 series matchups can top that. One of those games went to 3 OTs. There were also 4 consecutive OTs in 2014, the only time I think that has ever happened.

Not even a grizzlies fan but this team was one of my all time favorites. I remember how all the attention used to be on teams with high profile stars like the thunder clippers and spurs, but this Memphis team used to beat their asses consistently, and did it with such pride, loved seeing that, and that’s what the nba is missing today. This era of Grizzles made me a fan of them and the whole game overall. Even today I throw some remarks to my friends on how THIS team was just super good overall. Its very interesting how Grit and Grind became such an iconic team (and city) identity for the 2010s. It never won a chip, but earned respect from opponents like Kobe, Durant, Popovich, and was an obstacle to more hyped teams like the Thunder and Clippers. Also, that 8-1 upset over the Spurs led to the player management we see today.

I don't think that we noticed how incompetent the Grizzlies' front office was around this time. Outside of the Rudy Gay trade, they were often bad with free agency, trades, and drafting. Firing Lionel Hollins was the nail in the coffin imo. This Grizzlies team was basically the 90s team of the first half of the 2010s. It was awesome. Unfortunately, their style ended up holding them back. 16:58 Look at Zach Randolph drop McDyess, score on him, and just hand him the ball. 😅
