Was rooting for Isaiah Thomas to get his bag. He deserved it, but I also understand the business. At his size everything needed to go right. It's hard to build around a player his size. Once that player also gets injured you have to make that decision. Did Danny Ainge make the right one?

Yes, it’s not like they could have came to him & had him sign for half of the amount & he’d agree. With a player his size you have to also keep a back up for defense as well… makes you have to pay one to two more player as a result . Had he it would’ve worked.
@sirjohnlegion2691
@sirjohnlegion2691 Жыл бұрын
@@Supreme36074 Indeed. The harsh reality is, as guards get bigger and more athletic. It becomes less practical to invest in a PG with the stature of Thomas long term. You have to have major depth at the 1 spot, which ultimately comes down to acquiring a larger combo guard as a backup to make up for the obvious defensive liability Thomas presents. With that said, I personally believe the Isaiah Thomas story is still a success story despite the ending, He had a more than respectable basketball career, and he will go down as the greatest 60th pick ever and possibly greatest overachiever in League history. Mad Respect 2 IT!!!!

Love this guy! I was pissed off about the team trading him for at least a week. He gave the city everything he had! Not only did he play right after losing his sister, but he also had a tooth knocked out around the same time. I remember hearing the news about his trade and seeing him enjoy quality time with his wife in Miami on IG Live knowing he didn't even know about the trade. I feel like Gordon Hayward getting hurt and Kyrie not working out were all part of the karma for not keeping him 🤷‍♂

@@lcchillthey did NOT rush him back out there. Isaiah Thomas could have sat out as a precautionary measure, but chose to play through the injury. Isaiah Thomas (in his own words) said the Boston Celtics initially told him it was a bone bruise. Kendrick Nunn sat out an ENTIRE SEASON on the L.A. Lakers with a bone bruise. Instead of at least getting a second opinion, Isaiah shrugged his shoulders and said, "fcuk it, I'm playing." Very charitable for him to valuing winning over his own health, but ultimately, a bad decision for his overall career. 🏀
@jlui21

@@TuNnL - That's what I recall. IT could have sat out with the injury but he wanted to play. The Celts were good with him playing too.... But it was unwise by BOTH parties to let him play (considering now that Kawhi rests like hibernating bear ever full moon).

Seen all the stories , why wouldn’t they be careful. Even if under contract they’ll allow you to get healthy, show some value & trade you like they did Dominique & Bernard King..: who could never get what they were worth after injury. Fans like to complain but then you play & kill your career they have no sympathy. Would KD have gotten injured had he not of come back when with GS? Everyone was pressuring him to play, he tried & disaster struck & he’s out a whole year ..

I.T was an offensive powerhouse for the Celtics..but he was never going to get the max (even without the injury)..he was undersized and once he made the "Brinx truck" remark, he became a trade option going into his final year. EVERY owner in the league would have made that trade for Kyrie (at that time)...Isaiah overvalued himself BEFORE he even sat at the bargaining table. It's sad too because he deserved better for what he gave the city of Boston..but he was never going to get a max deal (Milwaukee exposed his size on defense and his ball dominant style of play throwing double teams at him in the playoffs)

The rest of the Celtics really get the short of the stick in that playoff run. IT only worked because they had flexible defenders (Crowder, Brown, Smart), a do it all forward in Horford, and bigs who can shoot. Throw in an Eastern conference in disarray and you get a great story. Put that team in the West and it is trash. Put someone like Lillard on that team and he will absolutely crush IT.

I honestly still feel that Isaiah Thomas is one of the most disrespected players playing. I always enjoyed him back when he was playing for Sacramento and seeing him pour his heart out in 2017 to try to win the Celtics the championship just to then get traded hurts to see. As a Cavs fan, it was nice to see Isaiah on the team and I understand what the Celtics did was for business reasons. I think him putting his body on the line to try to win a chip was an honorable mistake on his part. Either way, I feel like it would've been a lose-lose situation for him. I hope the best for him and I hope he can win a title before his career is over.

The lesson here is that only you know your own body. Derrick Rose almost certainly saved his own career by declining to play even after the Chicago Bulls medical staff had cleared him. But especially when you're a 5'9" guard and thus, a liability on defense, always have a contract lined up BEFORE playing through the pain. If you are going to count on a team to give you a $200 million max contract later, knowing you are sidelined with a hip injury, you are just being naive. 🤕🏀💰

Ball is out for the season in Charlotte. They should pick IT up but I guarantee he can win more games than LaMelo. They are 4th in the Wemanyama stakes 12.5% chance the three teams with worse records won't win enough games to catch up with Charlotte and if Charlotte wins a few and goes from 4th to 7th the odds go to 9% so not a drastic drop. Sign him and give the fans some entertainment. Maybe they'll luck out and keep losing.
