Deus abençoe as Américas 🇧🇷🤝🇺🇲.

Obrigado meu amigo! Because your post was so insightful, I translated it for others to read. Good evening here from Brazil my friend.. I liked the nickname of this Taurus, Tuco o Ugo, here in Brazil this movie has the name, three Men in Conflict, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, it is among the five movies that I love the most and always watch. In fact, westerns are the best movies to tell stories about morals, greed and survival. Old movies that are very current. I always joke, it's movies yesterday, man is man, woman is woman, horse is horse and gun is revolver, the old and unsurpassed school. different from the things they want to teach our children and grandchildren today. God always bless you and your work, and your family. I don't get sick of watching your videos. God bless the Americas 🇧🇷🤝🇺🇲.

More and more people are going back to Revolvers for self and home defense because you usually don't have to 2nd guess whether or not its going to go bang every time , even though I still do carry semi autos depending on threat levels. Why people don't realize why Militaries' switch to semi autos unlike Police who wanted high capacity, Militaries' recognize that Revolvers are not made for made for rapid sustained fire for long periods of time. But in most cases Revolver's will do the job in most cases. Also according to FBI statics the 357 magnum still has the best record for 1 shot stops.

The Glock 19 has certainly got more carry lately. The good thing is, like my Model 64 or my three inch GP100, it is a pick up and go gun, that for me, at this point in time of my shooting life, requires little practice or training with. There are definite advantages in constant work with snub revolvers.

@@LionquestFitness the great think about a Glock is that it's just like a revolver in that it's "draw, aim and fire" - no bothersome extra safeties = so you can focus on threat assessment and shot placement. What I really like about your vids is that you focus on the most important aspects of defensive shooting. Thanks again!

The Hornady 110gr 38Spl+P is pretty good ammo. They knew what they were doing when they made it for concealed carry. It's pleasant to shoot out of the ultralight snubs. I've never seen a test where it failed to expand. And it seems to hit point of aim from every gun I've seen shoot it. Finally, the price is not outrageous. That sixth shot is 20% more firepower. So it could make the difference.

I think most of us probably have a favorite weapon to carry, which may not seem logical when we do an unbiased comparison with our other options. In my own case, I most often carry a 5-shot S&W revolver & speed strip, while leaving a larger capacity micro-compact semi-auto in the safe. Seems to make no sense at all! However as you've mentioned before, it simply comes down one simple truth, the best gun will always be the one we're going to carry.👍

I’ve been carrying my 856 almost exclusively after getting it in April of last year and breaking it in at the range. @@LionquestFitness Agree totally. I love my 3 inch Model 66 and I'm having a gunsmith reblue and go over (including trigger job) a round butt Model 10 in 3 inch barrel. It was a police trade in and not easy finding 3 inch barrels which IMHO is the sweet spot for conceled carry. I usually carry a Glock 26 with Glock 19 magazine but I reach for my Model 10's and the 66 more and more for quick trips to the store, etc.

Good shootin’ Gregg. I’ve never owned a Taurus likely b/c our department RO would not approve anything but Colt or S&W for off-duty carry, but that was a long time ago. My favorite is a former service revolver, Model 10 snub SB w/a Tyler TGrip. I shot a 96% w/it at last year’s LEOSA qualification, same score as my M&P Compact 9MM. One flyer always spoils my chances for a perfect score.

When hunting , hers is a 66 in 4" and I carry 66 in 6" when carrying concealed in summer and in crowds we carry two proto types that I guess Taurus never put in prodution. Mine is a DA mod 606 -2" snubby in 357 mag produced in 6/87 and the wifes is the same but hers is ported and was built in 6/97. when we first tried to find out about our babies we had to call them when they were still in miami, FL and they told us to enter the serial #, we did and we got our info. Also a a side note they asked hoy they performed and we told them that after 1500 - 2000 rds still working just fine. When wear our coats or jackets we ccw Taurus mod G3c oh and we like TOCO !!!! I had a problem with the sideplate screw coming loose on a new Taurus 82 I owned. I had to replace it, since the small spring that came with it broke. I got rid of the revolver altogether last year. As for the 856, my first one had to be replaced because the front sight was misaligned and couldn't shoot straight. The only time I had to send a firearm back to the factory, but at least the customer service was good. I still have the replacement, and everything checks out, but I admittedly haven't shot it yet. I went back to carrying my S&W 642, and haven't gotten around to shooting my replacement 856. I intend to rectify that as soon as this freezing cold goes away. My experience with the 856 is that it likes the Steinel 125gr +P load I like to carry. S&B's 110gr load, not so much.

I was never a Taurus fan, but back when they changed management, I purchased the PT111G2 after hearing all the positive reviews, and the track record I have had with that firearm changed my view of Taurus and opened the door to numerous Taurus firearms since. I have full confidence in the 856 as a daily carry firearm.

I am a fan of the G2C. Not so much the G3C. It was OK, but I liked the earlier design. Nice! I like Taurus okay, but I do prefer Smith and Wesson. I had a 617 Taurus 7 shot 357 snub that I loved but could never find holster or grips I liked. Lately I’ve been carrying a couple revolvers. Usually a j frame IWB appendix and something at 4 o’clock, either another j frame IWB or a 3” model 65 357mag, or mod 64 38spl with 2” barrel. As for my j frames it’s either old model 60 38spl, mod 649 357, or my favorite mod 638 38spl. I prefer 2 j frames during the week but on weekends I’ll put model 64 on my hip. Was carrying beretta storm compact 9mm but going to make this a year of revolvers for the most part. Still like my 9mm and semi auto pew pews but something I love about revolvers, & even enjoy shooting them more. Thanks for all the great content. Thinking about adding Ruger LCRx 357 to the mix sometime this year. And maybe 2.5” colt python or model 19 carry comp with 2.5” barrel.

Wouldn't think I'd have sentimental value with a Taurus, much less think one (at least the 85) would be such a solid piece.

Over the years, I've had great luck with Taurus. I have a PT 99 AF and a 4" 669 .357 that I wouldn't part with. Had a 605, but it came apart on the range--wouldn't hold up to a steady diet of full power 125 grain ammo. (Repaired under the lifetime warranty, but sold it later). I love my 856--frequently pocket carry it, with some fancy, hot Buffalo Bore 80 grain coppers.

There have been reported, and I've had one, a small percentage of 856 revolvers with timing and cylinder issues. It varies in how it affects the gun's performance from critical fail to minor nuisance. I tend to believe in the design change from the 85 to the 856 there were some structural weaknesses by trying to keep the gun the same weight.

Take both of those Taurus' and trade them in on something better. "They put a lot of time and effort into the design of these guns"...and then they totally screwed the pooch on execution. Should have payed less for geniuses to reinvent a wheel(in this case a revolver) and spent more on materials and QC.

During one of the ammo crunches several years ago I decided to stick to guns that shot the most available ammo - .357, .38, 9mm, .45 ACP, .22 and .223. To narrow things down I sold my one gun in .40 and quit buying .556. I also decided against buying guns in .32, .44 special and .45 long colt due to ammo availability. Although, if I ever run into a friend who has one, I'll see if I can borrow it for a video.

@LionquestFitness Understood. As a reloader going back to even my pre-cop days (1970s), I have always been on the hunt for brass and primers. Casting my own, bullets have never been an issue. During the past shortages, I traded things I had a stockpile of for things of my immediate needs. Three of my favorite old Smiths: a pre-24, 4" M1950 .44 Special, a M14 6" that craves my reproduction 200 grain Super Police .38 Special load and a 5" M1905 4th change .32-20. Three that I think the lawman of old felt good about having at their side. My oldest daughter reminds me constantly that I live in the past. So true. But, I get your point.

Tough question. I've had two 856's and I shot well with both. The 85 is a sturdier gun and conceals better. But, I'd go with the 605 because of it weighing a couple of ounces more, being able to shoot .357, and because it will hold up better over the long haul for steady use of .38 and .38 Plus P.

I've had a life long love affair with the Model 10 ever since I bought one for duty carry in 1982. The snubbie 10 was a unicorn for me. I thought that because of the greater weight, it would handle better than the 856. But for me it didn't. Also, I felt like Taurus lost some structural integrity with the design by trying to keep the weight the same as the 85. Too, for pocket carry I much preferred a slimmer five shot revolver, so Tuco became a spare and a loaner. Now, it gets carried.
