Nice work camouflaging the water holding tank. I wonder if you could get some pvc drain pipe 6 inch or larger, hard to tell, to go into the holding tank. That way with pvc glue on the intake pipe on top of the tank and a coupling and the fitting from the gutter, you would have a securer section. Just a thought. Nice way you did the pvc for the hose.

"It looks better dead than it did alive" 🤣 That black mesh looks a good idea for the guttering - I might try that. That is well filtered system Dave. I love these sort of episodes - the reality of 'total' bonsai care :)

I have the same rubber coupler on my koi pond set up. Have had it for 20 years, and as long as you tighten the clamps tight, it hasn't leaked. Really tight.

Fire bad! Beer good! I haven’t figured out how to capture rainwater and overflow the excess appropriately… everything is looking pretty good in your neck of the woods. My folks are in Loretto, said it was 80s. Might hit that here in PA next week

You had me worried there for a moment. I am glad you secured the pipe coming out of the tank with wood to keep it level so that the weight of the hoses would not break the fitting to the tank. I wonder if you could get a pond pump to attach to the outtake pipe and then add it to the double fitting. This way as the pressure gets low, the pump would generate more power to the hoses with water to have full pressure to water the trees. There is an intake fitting and an outtake fitting for the pump. Just a thought on that.

Burning the dead trees looked very peaceful. I have quite a few failures from this last winter, think I’ll be doing the same. What about using plumber putty on those threads before the coupling is attached. Could help prevent the leak, and can be wiped off before the winter. Heck, even petroleum jelly could help.

Dead bonsais can be sold/given/traded with aquarium/aquascaping communities.... !! may have to dip it in epoxy depending on the species but there's a LOT of 'bonsai wood' that you pay a hefty price for in shops..
