GYPSY TALES

Күн бұрын

When the new Yamaha 450 was announced everyone was frothing to see the first footage of Eli Tomac on the new Blu Cru offering. Needless to say, the results were sickening!
With the WSX in town and a couple of the boys deciding to stay and enjoy the Gold Coast post race, it was the perfect time to smash out a couple pods. In this Chapter of the podcast we were lucky enough to be joined by one of the legends of the game, Filthy Phil & long time factory wrench Ben Schiermeyer! These guys are a wealth of knowledge in the sport and it was super fun to sit down for a few hours of BS'n in the wake of the Australian Supercross GP.

I got to watch and film Eli at several races this year and I have to say every time the dude was on the track I would blown away with his speed and how he rides a motorcycle. He's 1 of 1. This year was a gift for us moto fans to watch

Tomac is on another level. I still believe he had more in him for Chase but didnt show all his cards cuz he didnt have to. Great to see him happy and having fun enjoying dominating, haha! Sicko! Gotta love Phil, great show you guys!

"He looks like he's riding a YZ85". "Full throttle so much, he looks like he's just trying to blow it up" "He's just a sicko". LMAO you gotta love how Phil puts it. Phil would look like a straight up sicko on a dirt bike to just about anyone, yet Phil describes Tomac that way. It tells ushow next level Tomac is. For Phil to put his ego aside and describe how much better Tomac is than him, you gotta respect that.

Tomac- has the skill, talent, fitness, etc. to keep a 450 WIDE OPEN more than any other rider. As good / cool as that sounds. I would love to See and HEAR him ride a newer (carburetor) KTM 125 / 150 2-Stroke (or similar) on a outdoor MX track ! I know he could and would make a small bore 2 stroke sound incredibly awesome ! (I am sure he could do the same on a YZ 85, even though a bit small. I am sure he could still put down very respectful lap times)

@@garysorensen7724 yeah that would be sick. I think it would also be cool to see him on a tricked out YZ250 two stroke. Imagine him on one at Washougal.

If Ferrandis was healthy I think he would’ve competed for the title this year with Chase and Eli. Dylan was on another level last season and I feel like it got over looked

Exactly! I hope Ferrandis is 100% next year, it would make for some amazing racing!
@Scandle68

I'm a Tomac fan and not that fond of Ferrandis for a couple of reasons, but the truth is the truth. A healthy Ferrandis would have made it a three way dog fight to the end. He's that breed of athlete. Winning is all he has in mind, even when a 2nd or 3rd is plenty good enough points-wise, and it means some additional risk. He won't like it one iota that he missed out on a win, even if he wins multiple races along with the title. He can't line up and race and be ok with not winning. If he's forced to back it down a notch to save the bike or guarantee the title isn't thrown away, he will, but he won't like it at all. He wants to at least fight for it even when he doesn't win. Southwick 2021 is a prime example. If Ferrandis didn't have the speed to run with Tomac and Sexton when the season kicked off, he would have found the speed in a hurry or crashed into oblivion trying to win without the speed. I can see that in him wether I'm a fan of his or not. I was bummed that he got injured and out of the fight even though I wanted to see Tomac get it done and Ferrandis could have possibly threw a monkey wrench in it if he had been in the fight. I'd love to be able to watch all 12 rounds of that hypothetical season. Throw a healthy Jeffrey Herlings in there too, and watching each round would be like the best Christmas ever, except 12 of them in a row.

You summed it up with how capable a stock bike is after watching Tomac on it which makes it even more stupid that the first thing every pinhead does is go get a pipe thinking they need it. Tomac shows 99% of people can never ride a stock to its potential
@tychase2432
@tychase2432 Жыл бұрын
Pipes mellow out power a lot of the time and plus look way cooler them this eye sore. Let people do what they do and stop calling pinheads. I bet tomac could ride an 80 faster then most adults on a 450 so should every rider only ride an 80 until they get max potential?

I have tremendous respect for Tomac and Sexton. But when people are laughing at the euros, just look at Maxime Renaux who was racing in the US for the first time at the MXDN. He went 3-1. I know that the US riders were not at full speed in the last race since they wanted to control their position as leaders, but Jett Lawrence had nothing to lose and he never caught up to Renaux. And don’t forget Renaux only finished fourth in the MXGP standings…

I think it's funny that people still use the Yamahas were too wide excuse, even when it's been measured and proven to be a less than 10mm.difference. The new bikes have a smaller clutch and the transmission layout centralizes weight better. That's why it "feels" lighter, not soo much the 5lbs it "is" lighter. I've got a '21 and have absolutely no desire to buy the '23. If your not racing the damn thing, 5lbs isn't gonna be enuff to make a difference for the average rider. I'll take a 5 lb. duece before I ride. Believe me, when I say my '21 is more than enough to get the job done! Bet Eli could get around a track just as fast on the old bike.
