One of the most beautifully shot shows I've ever seen.

I agree. the shots in season 2 are just as good

Its beautiful and apropos because Toronto is allready such a hideous, soulless, generic wannabe American distopia it fits the premise perfectly !

One if my favourite shots is the hands reaching for the oranges, the colour is so powerful, and the brightness almost seems surgical

Bella MacTavish excellent description of that gorgeous shot.

Those 5 minute dramatic closeups of Elisabeth Moss make the show for me. Sooooo iconic

I am mesmerized by the production design and cinematography of this show. Especially the Chicago scene where June kneels down with hundreds of Handmaid's kneeling down! Goosebumps

Does anyone else want a prequel season? See how it all degraded, more than just glimpses?

No, I think it would demystify the whole thing. It's much more powerful when we just get glimpses of the process and have to use our imagination to fill in the gaps.

The cinematic visual is beautiful, 1 of my favorite personally. It's like watching a moving scenery photograph.

Try to get internships, maybe at first not with her company, then see if you can go up the market step by step.

I keep wondering why they use all the Victorian houses? Is this some symbolic thing? Especially since Gilead seems to want to destroy the world as it was in the past? Anyone have any thoughts about it?
@Aprilsraven6295 жыл бұрын
Its a symbolic link from the past the handmaids and everyone else lost and Gilead became the new future....

This can be Real in the future........but Maybe the men Will be the sex slaves.......more and more men are becomming infertile. I love this serie, the story, the set up, and that you never knows What Will happen next..... I Think many women can relate to June.

I don't think it has a "creepy feel" at all. The actions are creepy, but from a viewer standpoint, I just find it too dark and annoying, so I have to turn up the brightness all the way to see details, and then it all just looks weird. Not to mention all the closeups of Offred's face is quite annoying. So hearing these directors talking about how "perfect" it is, and bragging about themselves is kind of annoying.

Just have to say, too many of the scenes are just too dark, to even see what is going on. Wish it weren't so.

Just lina I would tend to agree, but mostly I feel the story demands that look. Check out Wolf Hall by the BBC. Shot on ARRI cameras, using sometimes just a few candles! But the story and the acting carried ones attention through the murkiness.

I loved this book and the film, but the way it's directed makes it hard for me to enjoy the tv show. The camera just hangs on Offred's face forever! The close up is way over used, in my opinion. And she moves so slowly, lingering at every doorway before leaving, loooong close ups before she delivers her single line, "yes." I find myself going "okay, yes, I get it, move one now please!" Also, can Fiennes choose a voice and stick with it?

this video concisely explains the reasons behind those style in direction and cinematography but you do you honey
