When the new rules came out, I was initially thinking "What are they doing?". After playing a dozen or so games, I firmly approve of the changes. The game is much more dynamic, and much more fun now than ever (Yes. I have played since 1.0). Anyone who has packed up their ships without trying the new rules/scenarios is doing themselves a disservice. The new rules will not be for everyone, but don't miss out on a great game simply because "change is bad".

Welcome back, gents! List building has been extremely fun. As a CIS player, I've been VERY happy about how Vultures turned out (Precise Hunter can take Heavy Laser Cannon AND a shiled upgrade? Yes please.) I still feel like there are a fist full of ships that are 1 or 2 equipment points shy of where I feel like they should be to excel, (Zuckuss being one I wish had 1 more equipment point), but over all games have been a ton of fun.

Bella Nick, cheers from Italy. It’s great to have you guys back. Personally I like this 2.5 a lot. It pushes you to try loadouts that you simply wouldn’t have considered in 2.0 and makes the game feel fresh and new. Only thing that could benefit a point adjustment is that, for some ships, there’s no reason to take generic pilots now (same squad point cost but no ability and fewer loadout points). One scenario where it still does make sense to list generics though (I love generics!) is of course swarms. Looking at these lists has me more excited for X-Wing than ever. I love X-Wing, and I was enjoying late 1.0 and most of 2.0 a lot. But a thing that was always frustrating was that one of the big avenues for ship customization, upgrades, were something you had to be hyper selective of. A lot of powerful upgrades were still something you just didn't bother taking, because they were also expensive, and that meant less shots on the table. You always, always looked at absolutely every upgrade thinking about whether it was worth shaving that extra ship out of your list and only committed if something was too good to ignore. I do think we'll probably end up with 'meta' loadouts, and right now I'm still iffy on pilot balance within ships - but we have so many more levers to adjust pilot balance now within a similar points space, and each ship gets to be a lot more unique because now you don't feel like you're 'missing out' if you put proton torpedoes on an X-Wing - you'd be missing out if you didn't! I'm just way more excited to see what ships are capable of in this edition, though I do wonder if the much longer per-ship loadouts will make lists take a little longer to read/analyze.

Instead of Boba Fett, I plan on taking Mando with perceptive copilot, Lando and suppressive gunner. Those three cards have crazy synergy. Seems very powerful and is 3 points less.

Suppressive gunner on a high initiative pilot. Spend a focus result to have them take a guaranteed damage or they shoot you back with less dice. I've seen success with it in my area.

Nah we are very much out of lockdown. Most people in the state are boosted now so it's very much hopefully a thing of the past. Yeah me and Justin will be playing some games when we are able.

I am not printing out the new delta b pilots. There is no point in doing that. Just use the configuration card and reference the delta b pilot costs. Thank God extended play is still a thing. This game is primarily a dog fighting game. Scenarios are nice to have, but I don't think it should've been a whole game mode. It should've been like in 1.0 where the Scenarios were an add on to the larger ship expansions as another to play. Not saying it's terrible, but that's just me. Love seeing you guys again. I'll have some lists soon.

Suppressive Gunner underwhelmed me until in a tournament I had to fly against 3 ships that all had it... since I was flying Eta-2s I couldn't afford to take the damage and let me tell you, having my dice neutered at i6 turn after turn was brutal. Still won, but it kept low agility ships alive a lot longer

I don't know how to feel about the new rules. A part of me was excited about getting out of lockdown and actually trying to get to go in stores, and play a game that I have bought way too many plastic models for, but rule changes and the points are giving me the anxiety, and the anxiety was a big reason why I found it difficult to get into FLGS, before the lockdown(s). Think I might wait a little bit, see how things shake out. Did you see the Crabbok Livestream about the new rules? He was damn near accusing AMG of lying about their reasoning about all the changes.

Honestly no I didn't check out Crabbok's livestream. While I can accept that maybe they don't have the same design approach... I don't see why they would lie about rules changes.... that seems odd to me. My only real critisism is that their reasoning may seem a little odd at points, but there's no one thing they have said that makes me think they don't know what they are doing. It's just a top to bottom ethos change of the game design, and while I don't think the game reeeeeally needed it, I can appreciate a new design team wanting to make it their own.

As someone who has spent a lot of money on a game which was very easy and fun to play. They had no right to go and change it so much that it is now a completely different game. I run store competitions and casual flying games. None of my players want to play this as it is not the game that they fallen in love with. My players have said, were was the constitution with the community. The answer there was none. Paul H. Has come out and said that he is quite angry that the game has been changed like this. Doesn't that got to tell you something and was world champion twice. Look if my players are telling me that they don't want to change how we play X wing then it looks like I won't be. I am not the only one which is very upset about this. Here's to proxying our own points and possible cards if needed.
