Fun fact: the challenge medal can be used when fighting superbosses in challenge node, which unsurprisingly makes them incredibly difficult to defeat. It also means that one of the superbosses can have over 10,000HP, which is the only time in the series as far as I’m aware

i've been doing this in my playthrough! daredevil boots are OP enough that it doesn't matter much though, even with challenge medal the main story bosses get killed in like 2 turns (for junker that was literally the case). the early X bosses get pretty ruined as well, the beta cretin x didn't get to attack at all once it got to that form because mario just output so much damage. it's been fun though, Junker X and Dark Fawful for example have been putting up a decent challenge which is what I was hoping for. i def rec challenge medal for anyone doing a returning playthrough

Spoilers for a side quest in mario and luigi brothership! One of the monster maniacs in brothership has a Curlup that seems to have much more health then that as a challenge. So much, the fire status effect hurts it for about 10,000 damage.

I'd look at the wiki entry for the stuff from earlier this year for a starting point on garnering more information. Imo, I think he overstepped his boundaries without meaning to in some cases, and has shown both a desire and effort to learn from it and learn to respect boundaries. I do not think in the slightest he is a sex pest. I think the entire situation was manipulated heavily from Lady Emily's side, considering she purposefully left out a lot of stuff to make him look worse. I myself am a victim of harrassment and minor assault, so I hesitate to blame anyone that feels they've been made uncomfortable, but in this case it felt like several people just had it out for Emile. Overall I would recommend you do extensive research and come to your own conclusion. I was very on the fence about the whole thing but decided I'd see how he responds and recovers from it before I decided whether I would continue supporting his content or drop someone that influenced a lot of my hobbies.

It’s one of those challenges where once you fumble once, your concentration breaks slightly that you’ll mess up again soon after. Kid me struggled hard doing this one, and modern day me still thinks it’s tough after a single fumble

The Goomba Storm is the hardest challenge of them all for me. If you’re left handed, you are always at a MASSIVE disadvantage. I got a B ONCE out of 2 weeks of playing and my friend pulled it off after 3 hours. We had a white board full of algorithms and ways to predict Goomba spawns and it was INSANE. I can’t do Goomba Storm without holding my DS to the side and it just does not do enough. I think my PB is 165 or so. How you last THAT much longer is beyond me. And the Koopa Korps has some MEAN rhythm changes. Bowser challenges are just tougher. Good thing the other two are just really fun.

14:10 Remake : 180 for Gold. 120 for Silver 60 for Bronze. I had to do all these with a kind of crappy Touch Screen. And I've got tips for different minigames. And I got nothing for this one, but for Left-Handed...I'd say turn your DS/3DS upside down. I got 296 on this for the remake, and I do remember from my original DS days that I got 300-330. Edit : I'm dead wrong with my DS File. 253. Guess I was so relieved that I didn't care about my score. Well done Tim. 2nd Edit : On my not so Grindy File : I got 372 for the Goomba Challenge. Funny enough on that file, I've done no other challenge and that was the only one I did. Funny Enough, I did not get the Fire Flower attack or the FINAL Special attack for the Bros. and I did not collect the Shy Guy Squad Brawl attack. I have no idea what I was doing with that second file.

I love the idea of the X boss battles, reminds me of EX bosses from Kirby games, wonder if they took inspiration. Love how they are given new colour pallets too. It’s pretty neat and sweet for people who want more of a challenge. It's pretty common to make bosses harder by changing the color pallete (probably originating in games with limited sprite counts), so it's not super likely it's related but it definitely is possible.

@@tuskoub It's just like Mario and Luigi's run and jump sprites, not a huge deal, I even separated them out in their own folder for easy deletion. The game is extremely early in development, it is one debug room and that is all at the moment. By the time I refine the movement to how I want it, these sprites will be gone and I will create my own art. I'd understand the concern if I was multiple years and hundreds of assets deep, but it really is like less than 10 assets total, maybe should have clarified that, lol.

Hey, i like bowser jrs journey. Yeah the gameplay sucks, but the story is really good, and it's nice getting to watch bowser jr progress from this selfish kid who doesnt care about his troops, to caring about them, something they had carried over into brothership. I also liked the new villains, Dieter, Beef, and Kaley.

Yeah, the story is good. The problem is that it's locked behind a monotonous gameplay loop that becomes boring incredibly fast.

I actually enjoyed the gameplay for Bowser Jr.’s Journey quite a bit. Being able to strategize and plan your formations felt very satisfying imo. It felt like you were actually leading and commanding an entire army, and to me it feels satisfying whenever you win a long and difficult battle on your first try as a result of the time you took to plan and strategize who to have on your team and where to place them for the battle and when to use certain Captain Commands during the battle. It was done way better in that mode than in Bowser’s Minions where it felt very trial and error dependent with very little to no actual strategizing. I would even go as far as to say I had more fun playing through Bowser Jr.’s Journey than Partners in Time and even Superstar Saga, and this is coming from someone who recently replayed through every Mario & Luigi game (including the remakes and their side modes) in celebration of Brothership’s announcement.

I can understand why he isn't covering it since the gameplay isn't very interesting to watch. That being said, I do think Bowser Jr's Journey is okay when you intersperse playing it throughout the main game instead of all in one go, to reduce the monotony. It's also a notable improvement over the Bowser's Minions mode in Superstar Saga DX, since there's more skill involved in planning your units and using Captain Commands from what I remember. I was actually able to beat hard fights on repeat attempts without grinding, which I could never do in Bowser's Minions. Of course, the cutscenes are the real highlight, which you can easily find on KZbin without playing the game itself. I'd genuinely recommend giving them a watch even if you're not interested in the remake as a whole. It's a good story, with easily the best characterization that Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings have ever had. It actually goes into their thoughts and feelings about each other, which no other games really do from my memory. Fawful's new minions are great too, especially Dieter. He's such a smug asshole.

You weren’t wrong about having something to do with the Bros in Blubble Lake. If you had walked into Broque Madame’s shack, she would’ve had unique dialogue with you. In fact, you’ll have that same unique dialogue if you pay her a visit with them afterwards. I’ve also heard there’s more dialogue if you run into another group of NPCs before you see them as Bowser, but I’ve never actually tried it. Also interesting: if you go into the Gauntlet with the Challenge Medal equipped, it’ll actually tell you that you should come back at a much higher level in exchange for the standard increase to the coin payout. It won’t show that increased value if you’ve already beaten the boss at its normal level, but the difficulty will be higher still.

I love that (at least so far) Bowser never “becomes good.” It would be so easy to have Mario & Luigi and Bowser form a truce to fight Fawful, but Bowser gets to be playable without changing his character. He’s still self-serving, wants Peach’s castle for himself, and gets in conflict with the Mario Bros whenever he sees them.

Also gotta say, the developers's choices for Smash Bros are definitely wild takes. Broque Madame could be a heavyweight fighter that utilized special moves based on Bowser's Special Moves or Broque Monsieur and Broggy popping up in her Specials and even Final Smash. Starlow... Could be a similar case if she participated more in these M&L fights like say as the Items seen in Bros. Special Moves. I'd say have her morph into the items of those Bros Attacks or emulate those moves. Fawful was already done by better moveset makers including this one idea of him with the vacuum backpack containing Cackletta's spirit.

Honestly I've seen the Bowser's Minions and Bowser Jr's Journey games for myself just recently from another LPer and frankly I think you oversimplified them. They're very engaging games with a lot of great characterization for both stories. Maybe the gameplay just wasn't for you but you do have to be engaged to win and strategize for most of the battles.

I remember following an unusual tip I found online for this one. Namely, rotating my DS 90º to the right, effectively turning this challenge into a Guitar Hero session. Worked pretty well, especially since I've never played Guitar Hero. I also followed a similar strategy for the next Bowser challenge, but turned to the left instead. Let's just say it gets to become an intense game of Breakout.

Idk if these are pre recorded and then uploaded But im gonna say it anyways for anyone unaware of this item When you go to browser's castle, at the door entrance youll see a flapping kinda poster on the right side of the entrance Burn that with bowser's flame button, you'll see a little hole Then use Mario and luigi to go to browser's castle When you get to the same location, use the hammer move to make mario small He should fit into that gap, inside you should see a space and keep poking around till you see a ? Block The item you're looking for inside is "the giant shell" "Blocks all hits that would deal less than 20% of the wearer's HP in damage" Say for example an enemy did 14 damage and you had 140 on Luigi, it'll do nothing, you don't even need to jump/ be afraid to jump if the damage is less than 20% of Luigi's HP Luigi is the best one to use this on cuz he is the tank between the two Hopefully I explained this well, it's been a short time since I played the game myself 😅 but that item is in the game

In the 3DS version, you also get a piece of gear in addition to the coins for defeating a boss in the Gauntlet. The gear for Durmite X is the Sequel Scarf (the user lands critical hits on burned or dizzy enemies) I could be wrong but maybe in the remake, the Straw is referred to as Straw X

Hot take: I actually like the side modes of the Remakes and wished there was a proper full game of it. I do prefer Minion Quest, because its Bonus System really makes me want to search out and gather the units. In Jr.'s Journey however, it really just boils down to "just use what you have until you have Kamek and all Koopalings". Not to mention only Ludwig having access to Stop & Drop, making him effectively the required First Officer in the lategame.

So... the Gal socks you can get from the beginning of the game. The equipment that increases the chance of being attacked for the bro who wears them. By how much is that? Might be a good way to keep the wearer of the Daredevil boots safe. (A simple idea from someone who's never played any of these games before or even knew about them existing before Chugga started playing them.)
