I am so lucky that I found what I searched for! One of the best descriptive videos to understand the mechanism of the rocker. This will be my first project using power tools to make carpentry as my business! Thanks for the lovely video!

Thanks Memphis. That was really helpful. I’ll order a few sets of those glider parts. I have a feeling there is a rocker and a garden bench in my near future. Looking forward to next week’s video. Thanks again!

Do you make videos? Think I checked, but can't remember. Think I'll ramp up these "Answer" sessions, since you think they are helpful Good luck on your glider. I'm doing a garden bench too, but the long span on the seat will require some thought.Also, the marine plywood I use in this project is an absolute total experiment; I don't know if it will hold up exposed to the weather. Thanks again for watching and commenting. You have inspired me to make more answer videos; so it's your fault.

I don’t make videos per se. I’ve posted a few just to share with friends. I’m just a hobbyist woodworker. I enjoy watching channels like yours, which showcase creativity and innovation. I think the “Memphis Answers” idea is terrific. As my grandmother told me in my school days: if you have a question, chances are you are not the only one...

The metal parts are called glider bracket arms or glider bracket hardware. I just found them on Amazon.

How do you mark the point you need to make your holes for the bolts in the glider hardware? When the piece is on blocks ready for hardware assembly the gap is so narrow i can't mark where rhe bolt holes go.

would like to know is back arm set on 15' deg angle ?? or front?? i have made a few gliders swings.. and have has some issues with them walking around when in use..i have had to back and move the arms. i guess what i was wanting was what angel do you use on rocker arms..
@johnking63082 жыл бұрын
Did you get an answer? I find the same issue with bracket placement. When the two tops are connected farther apart than the two bottoms it changes the glide. Somehow, you can also create a swing motion rather than back and forth glide. What have you learned?

You can tell I am not a woodworker because I didn't give the hardware a second thought. I notice a string trimmer behind you. Is that an electric one? I bought an 80V Kobalt one from Lowe's last year. I love that it is quiet, I don't have to fool with the fuel mixture, it doesn't stink and the string is a breeze to wind. I don't even have to take the head off. I just stick the string through until I have equal ends and start winding until it is wound up.

I'm a big believer now in these new cordless trimmers. I gave a brand new gas powered trimmer away, as it was a pain in the butt, especially to start. And one charge on the electric is about all I can stand anyway, so I'm sold. What did you think of my blurry-eyed rant the other night? I almost deleted it the next morning. Boy, I sure get smart on that fire-water. I had to close one eye to see the print on the computer screen. Bet you never been that smart. What do you think about the Memphis Answers concept? Is it a keeper? Any changes needed?
@PidasianHippie5 жыл бұрын
@@MemphisApplegate I gave an expensive gas powered trimmer away several years ago because it was so difficult for me to use. For years, I just didn't trim the edges and it would get pretty scraggly around here. Last summer I had enough and got this one. I loved your rant and totally agree with all of it. I wasn't as smart with my response but I was hopped up on a "5 Hour Energy". I have been that smart too many times to count. Memphis Answers is definitely a Keeper! You did a perfect job with this one. It was short, full of relevant information and to the point. Keep that formula. I guess I need to hole up my end and think of questions......

@@PidasianHippie You always have good questions, but I'm so windy with you that I never think to make a video on your questions. We have been at this so long now that you are more like a consultant; we have no Memphis Monday secrets. Well consultant, did you notice my change in the Memphis Monday titles? That was the detail I hoped I'd catch you on. I put the number at the end of the title, as my theory is that the number at the beginning trips up the KZbin sorting algorithm. And since I know nothing about how any of that stuff works, my logic is unencumbered with facts, experience, or knowledge. What is it called? The Dunning Kruger effect, I think. Hope to see you around the campus on Sunday, as we start Senior Week.

@@MemphisApplegate Yea. As your star begins to rise, we may have to find other platforms for our lengthy somewhat controversial conversations. Hey, you have helped me much more than I have helped you. I did notice that you had changed the number to the end. It is something that I had considered suggesting. One thing our nemesis TR understood is the wording to perfect the search engines and KZbin's algorithms. It is all about putting those key words in the titles to get the video picked up in searches. Be sure that if I am not here on Sunday, I will get here as soon afterwards as I can.

The glider I have does not Rock I would like to know how the glider attaches to the chair 2:52 2:52 2:52
@MemphisApplegate6 ай бұрын
I don't remember, honestly, but I think I copied the placement of the gliders from another glider rocker I saw someplace. I often would check out antique stores just to get ideas and study construction methods. This doesn't work well with modern furniture, as it is often stapled and glued together in factories.

Of course it depends on how it is broken. Send me a few pictures at henri_chase@sccoast.net and perhaps I can help. If you send the pictures, may I use your question in a Memphis Answers video? Thanks for watching and commenting.
