FAN anderson They achieved alot more than most white regiments, they got more kills, they didnt even get to fight under the American flag, the U.S. gave them to the french because they were "inferior" and they all died penniless, not given any recognition for their duties, no military benifits.

It's long after they died... sucks they couldn't see such recognition in their lifetime, like many heroes in human history. Unfortunately their story is told long after their death, and they will never know about it :( But it's the same with many stories in history, we may just never know unfortunately, so honour the ones we do!

I love my country and the Harlem hellfighters and I think it is horrible beyond what we could have felt today on how they were treated but that doesn't make it okay to say "fuck you" to something a country did almost a century ago! The US is not the only country that has racial prejudice, is not the last one, and certainly not the worst. Have you seen Eastern Europe with how they are treating the Muslim refugees?

I mean, pretty much everything you said here was rather moronic, but the fact that you think a video game is going to lift a self-made weight off your shoulders because you feel guilty about racism in America is especially stupid. You know that France, the country that the Harlem Hellfighters fought alongside, only banned slavery 20 years prior to WW1. And the only reason they even bothered to take them was to use them as meat-shields. The French never gave them any medals either.

I'm still pretty sure that the black dude on the BF1 cover is a German Askari from either Kameruns, Togoland, German East Africa, or Southwest Africa, as these were all places where men of African descent would fight with German equipment, such as the Mauser C96 and the MP18i along with the stick grenades shown in the cover art.

As a an Afro-American male, a Marine and a bit of historian of the contributions my race has made in the military in all of the great wars of the past, I'm pleased that DICE is putting the 369th into BF1. They played a big part in the battles of Champagne-Marne and Meuse-Argonne in WW1. Kudos to DICE for bringing this part of not only Black history, but American Military history to the forefront in there game.

If the Harlem Hellfighters are the main characters of the game it's because the makers thought that was a good story, I wish people would stop pretending this game is trying to be some kind of statement about war or racism, it's not. _"We're trying so hard to treat it respectfully. We want to depict the era, but with the purpose of building fun gameplay with variation. In the end, it's entertainment, we're not trying to make a statement."_ Lars Gustavsson - Disigner at DICE in interview with Gamespot
@hunterjohnson8903

It probably will be a good story, because it puts the player in someone's shoes who has a lot of backstory, which makes it easier for the devs to create a more accurate game full of factual and a little bit of fictional information.

All the kids here saying: "My history teacher never taught us this"... Heres the thing, school (especially public k-12) is there to provide an environment for learning. They give you the basics because theres no way they can cover *everything*. And you cant rely on another person to learn for you. You have to... Most of the things ive learned in life, especially when it comes to history, I learned for myself! If you have an interest go research it, visit museums, talk to veterans! Ok i'll get off my soapbox now.

GA P World War 1 happened in 1914-1918ish... The Civil War which was in large part fought over the right to own slaves was in the 1850s a full 60 years earlier... They were not slaves, still unequal in the eyes of the government but not slaves.

I am a service member, and just hearing how they were treated makes me sick. I remember the first day of training and our drill instructors got us into a formation and told us to look around at all the other soldiers in the formation and told us that religion, creed, sexual orientation, or race did not matter any more. It did not matter if they were black, white, yellow, brown, or purple, they were your brothers and sisters now and you always have your families back.

+Ace Michael Wittmann this is why I am pissed off that DICE are deciding to please there American fans by putting in there favorite little stories about heroism but it's bullshit because they need to say the other stories. Think about the French who had there country invaded unlike the Americans the entire population of France was basically forced into a almost slave like life where they had to fight to stay alive

I don't know about anyone else but this made me quite emotional. I got goosebumps when hearing the heroics of these men, and I wept when hearing about how they were treated. Nevermind how that generation of Americans treated them. The new generations of Americans DO recognize them and as an American, I am honored to call these men my fellow Americans.

I think it is great that the Harlem Hellfighters are included but seriously if the ANZAC's aren't included (I think I said this in another one of your videos) it would piss off myself and a lot of people I know, because Australia and New Zealand officially entered the war in 1914 where at that time the US was still funding the German war effort and it wasn't until 1917 the US Declared war on the Germans. Also on a side note I'm pretty sure some of the US forces were Assigned under Australian General John Monash (Who essentially created the Blitzkrieg tactic the Germans used during WW2, sorry Poland and well everywhere near Germany) during the Battle of Hamel

In addition to receiving the Medal of Honor from Obama while he was president in 2015 which took some doing apparently, Henry Johnson received the Destinguished Service Cross from the U.S. Military in 2002, and former President Clinton awarded Henry Johnson with the Purple Heart in 1996. Took my country long enough, but good to see that at long last his service was properly recognized.
