why does no one mention the tariffs? in Germany you pay 19% + x (0-12%) for importing...and 19% on any sell...so its a loosing business...every article i calculate, its impossible to make money...but loosing is very easy

Rebates are an incentive program in which a supplier offers their customers a monetary reward for reaching designated purchasing goals.

The promotional rebates you see in your Payments report are for items that qualified for Free Shipping. When a buyer selects ‘Free Shipping’ for their shipping preference, Amazon applies a charge for the shipping, and then a credit. I recently got a listing up on Amazon. I know the pictures need improvement, and it's only been a few days since I got the listing up. The product is completely made and shipped by me. I know it's a niche product so it will probably take some time to get sales/review ramped. I suppose it'd be best for me to try to sell niche products to a small retailer who can use the product or a store that has a need for the product - they just have a better platform and could be direct customers as well.. I suppose this could lead to relationships where they ask me to create custom products, meaning I don't even have to come up with the idea, but get to trademark and brand the product and already have a customer for it. I guess that's a good idea.
