@@awesomeaartvark Hugs Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot to have a little kindness in these trying times, not just to strangers but to everyone you love and care about, everyone around the world right now are in a hard place, so some thing as small as a little message or the little magic of a you tube pod cast that can make it little better. Thank You PS I don't want to offend you, if your message was genuine , if so then i am thankful that there are some real cool people online who do spread kindness ect on line. i guess its hard to read things the right way because when i re read your message it sounds sarcastic. wonderful hat chat! on the topic of memories, made me think of an accident i was in about two years ago. was on a charter bus that fell ~40 ft into a ravine back in 2018, and for a while after i couldn’t remember the accident occurring in one whole memory. i could only remember it in snippets that i had to piece together. speaking to others involved helped me remember things that i hadn’t been able to recall beforehand, but there were times where i’d realize my memory was fuzzy and once i could clearly recall something it would hit me like a ton of bricks. the accident really wiped my memory of the months around that time though, so i had a hard time remembering things from around then and afterward. i would always worry that i’d forget what happened so i’d record anything i’d be able to recall in notes. the mind is a crazy place! anyways, thanks so much for the content, i hope you all are staying positive in these trying times. best wishes from the yeehaw state!

Sibling Trauma story; My sister and I were sword fighting with grilling forks. I was around 3 and she would have been around 5. I was REALLY into pirates and my dad thought it was hilarious, but then I went in for the jab and stuck her right under her left nipple. She turned to my dad with the fork still in her and shouted, "MY BOOB."

I don't know which memory is my first memory, there is this selection of breif almost film like scenes in my head but the order they go in is confusing and difficult. If I am to guess my first memory was waking up in my bed and looking out the window and seeing an overcast day, or the other is being sent to bed and climbing into my sisters cot and sleeping with her because I was scared of the dark, then being put back in my bed pretending to be asleep as to not get into more trouble. The second one sounds more wholesome so I'm gonna pretend it's that one. :P

My first nightmare that I remember was about dry play-doh and my hands and clothes turning into that same texture? It was nasty. I also have weird memories of my childhood where I don't remember the inside of the home I lived in till I was 4, but I can remember the garden, and my next door neighbour's house, and also one car park in Bath that was on the top of a hill and if you wanted to get to the Disney Store and other stuff, you had to go down the hill through the park. That's it. Very specific.

First childhood nightmare I remember, vividly, I was in a subway train looking out of the front and in the subway tunnel, all these superhero characters were chained spreadeagled in front of the train so we bashed into them one by one. Then the subway reached this huge round space full of water and the tracks left off and all these subway trains were flying out of tunnels down into the water, where a giant King Kong was eating everything.

I grew up with a twin and a three-years younger sister. Needless to say, there was plenty of trauma that I both received and inflicted. One of the only things kids aged 2-3 will remember is moving or a very traumatic event. Usually you don't remember that back and you may fill in the blanks with fake memories later on usually from pictures and stories you were told so even when you think a memory is real you can't be too sure about it.

Except I very vividly remember locations I haven't been to since I was less than two, of which no photos exist. Only to go back many years later to find my memories largely accurate. Now I do have ASD, so maybe there's something different with the way early memories work due to autism. Idk, I'd be interested to find out

o.j kirkham that does sound interesting. I have ADD and an absolutely shit memory. I’m assuming it has to do with the overload of input due to not being able to filter things properly and just the general inability to focus well on things which is likely to make it a lot harder to both store information and recall memories. Though I don’t know for sure. Any guess as to what makes you so good at remembering things/childhood memories?

With regards to the contact tracing concept, the solutions developed by Google and Apple implement it in such a way that you will never share data that's personally related to you, rather your phone will be transmitting a seemingly random token to any nearby devices. Each device using this system will have its' own secret key (called a Temporary Exposure Key), which gets generated every 24 hours. This TEK will then be combined with the current time roughly every 10 minutes using a method of encryption, to generate a public key (called a Rolling Proximity Identifier) which it can broadcast out over bluetooth. If another device picks up this signal, then it stores the RPI, along with data such as how long the signal is being received for, the time of day, and the signal strength. Then, if somebody gets diagnosed with the virus, they upload all their secret Temporary Exposure Keys from the last few days to a central authority (such as the NHS). Finally, every day or so your device will send a request to the central authority, and ask for any TEK's which have been recently flagged. If you receive any then your phone will combine these with all the possible times which they were valid for in the few days prior - again using encryption - and if any of the resulting tokens match the Rolling Proximity Identifiers which your device also has stored then it can determine if you are likely to have gotten the virus using the other data it has stored for that occasion (e.g. signal strength, time in contact etc.). In essence the only real extrapolation which can be made from this data is between you and the people you come in to contact with. For example, let's say you only went outside once in the last couple of weeks, and you saw your neighborJon who was out mowing his lawn any maybe he got a bit close to you. Then, should you be alerted that you have been in contact with someone in the past 14 days who has been tested positive, you would probably be able to deduce who it was.

My comment re: your comment re: The State of KZbinrs and The Fact That Shameful People Make More Money Than Me: I've been in IT for maybe 15 years, worked my way up through various companies and types of environment (e.g.: public/private; over-secure/under-secure; thousands of end users/ten end users), and even before I had been forced to try to internalize my disbelief and outrage at the variety of ways in which the Paul Brothers were insulting and abusing the layperson as entertainment personalities (who I'd never really heard of prior to h3h3/idubbbz's Color Blind Glasses video), I'd come to accept that there are a LOT of stupid, ignorant, self-absorbed people on this planet. People who don't hold doors for the men or women JUST behind them, people who don't care they've parked over the lines, people who are entitled to drive faster and cut you off, people who know better than you do even though they specifically requested your help... The list goes on and on. People, by and large, are self-absorbed, dumb motherfuckers. All those dumb motherfuckers have nuance, and personality, families, and even if they could fit into cliques or neat little groups of "Types of Dumb Motherfuckers", they're still dumb motherfuckers. They don't try to learn or grow or understand beyond what they're directly interested in, they take umbrage when they're inconvenienced and subsequently flout conventional ideals of courtesy and politeness to once again herald the reign of the Cult of Outrage, they are upset to various degrees when you disagree with their opinion (read: true knowledge of facts and things), and they ABSOLUTELY know better than you do. To be clear: these are stereotypes. They do not apply to all people. That said, stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason. There are a LOT of people like that, and they are the audience of KZbinrs (et al) such as The Paul Brothers. There's nothing you or any of us who wish for Public Icons, Media Personalities, or "Influencers" who are more thoughtful and considerate can do about those dumb motherfuckers- the ones who support the shame-bringers, the mind-killers- except BE BETTER. They don't CARE about us, or anyone other than themselves, unless it happens to be in a Facebook post that makes them a little sad, or if their chosen Social Poisoner makes a vlog about it; we can't count on THEM to change. A lot of the problem is "young people" (says I, the 35-year-old who grew up in the strangely wonderful childhood transition between watching ants outside and reading AIM messages inside) who now have full access to the Internet (I could write a whole paper on how the Internet, while the most amazing and connecting technological breakthrough of all human history, is in fact the one thing that twists us and our socially-driven animal brains to the most negative, attention-seeking extremes), and how most of those people's worlds now revolve around instant self-gratification and near-constant Pavlovian bell-ringing of feed updates and text messages- hell, a huge portion of the modern world is stuck struggling with that, regardless of age, and I am no exception, even with my continuous attempts at self-awareness and perspective granted by my upbringing; it's a problem for all people of almost any background, and the only way to help yourself is self control. Good luck, people. This all leads me back to the fact that The Paul Brothers, ass grapes on the anus of humanity that they are, tend to be more successful than a lot of other, more intelligent people because they have the popular vote- they have all those dumb motherfuckers who don't understand just how fucking stupid they are. They have the tweens who are thrilled by the fact that their Social Poisoner saw a dead body, or was magically cured of color blindness (that had never existed outside of a couple of prior videos created to set up the punchline), or carried a dead fish around in Japan, offering it to people before leaving it on a car's trunk without any consideration to how different the culture there is (and subsequently how much more galling the act was)- or the fact that it wouldn't be acceptable anywhere, regardless; they have the angry trash who are angry that we dare stepped on their lawn or consider even for a moment that Trump doesn't have their best interest at heart; they have the "u mad bro" group who get off on being a dick to people online because they have nothing better to do and mockery is the easiest and shallowest form of combative pleasure they can achieve; they have ALL the negative aspects of our societies wrapped up in pretty little baskets with bows on top because those dumb motherfuckers- the lot of them- don't know any better, and they don't care. To be clear: I'm not saying EVERYONE is like that. Again, this is a stereotype. Multiple stereotypes that play together because they're all fucking dumb. It's a crying shame, but all we can do- all I can try to do- is BE BETTER, even if I don't get to suck Smith's dick at the end of the day. Not everyone can have that pleasure, moron or otherwise.

In a perfect world I'm sure we'd all love to see everyone earn a decent living. However, in the real world, increases in the minimum wage have a tendancy to put small firms out of business, as well as making a country's exports less competitive and less desirable. After the whole Amazon wage PR scandal (I worked in their Milton Keynes fulfillment centre btw), they faced public pressure to increase their employee's per hour salaries. They did and are now actively lobbying multiple governments to raise the minimum wage so that Amazon's competitors are forced to endure higher costs too, whilst looking like the good guy. This all seems well & good for the people, but cheaper labour in foreign countries is the reason most things are made abroad. By increasing the minimum wage we'd be forcing even more production & manufacturing out of the country. With covid-19 exposing how fragile our supply chains really are (e.g. difficulties procuring PPE), I'm not sure that's a good idea. I'm currently a student and I've worked in retail for 5 years now and I know it's not a popular opinion to not want to receive a raise. Your average Joe isn't well versed in economics and like Pyrion said on the Triforce, it's better to leave most of the complex economics up to the boffins in London, and leave the majority of social issues up to the people. Love the podcast btw 😂

with the tracking stuff and all. I do believe that both the tech giants and governmental bodies for a large part do mean well. The problem is that there are even if it's a smaller part. People/companies that will use/abuse those systems. That in combination that especially governments have shown time and time again that they are not really good at creating water tight software systems. that is where the biggest problem is. there only needs to be one hole in the system.

There is a potential problem with universal basic income. It could enable governments to start privatising everything under the sun and offsetting that cost onto UBI. Imagine a world where UBI is in place, and a government wants to bribe the electorate by stating they'll increase everyone's UBI in exchange for privatising healthcare, which they'll have to pay for using a small fraction of their new UBI increase. Over time this just leads to a permanent underclass, and anyone with stored/inherited wealth is laughing.
