I feel sometimes it starts from their moms also. Their moms make it normal to define what are the tasks for boys and what are the tasks for girls. Like cleaning up dining table after meal is for girl child not boys. This all is deep rooted. I think there should be new term like “mummy ke dulaare”

It's okay. Most Indians still have sick mentality despite being 'educated.' I too don't know how to cook and I'm 32. But, I earn enough that I can pay for a cook for both me and my family. While any human, a man or a woman should know how to cook, it isn't a necessity. People are shallow, just ignore. That's what I do. All the love. ❤

It’s not your responsibility to cook for everyone, and if u can’t cook than u have to pay for it. They can cook for themselves if they want cooked food or pay to the cook. If a male can’t cook, then does he pay to a cook?(not for himself, but for the entire family). Why does the female has to compensate for not cooking by paying to the cook(who cooks for everyone)? There is nothing wrong in paying for a cook if u want to. But If u r doing this because u r trying to compensate for not cooking and it’s a necessity(or compulsion) then its wrong and injustice. Don’t pay to the cook for compensation. It’s not your responsibility. Ask them why can’t they cook for themselves? What’s the problem if they cook or pay to a cook for themselves?they r adults they can feed themselves !!! Khud khana banane main kya Takleef hai 😊 or aisle logo ke Saath rishta bananae ki zaroorat kya hai? Asi bhi kya majboori? What are these kinds of lowly people doing in your life? R u living in a cage or what? Why do u need permission from someone else for not cooking? It’s ur life right? Can’t u take your own decisions?

You spoke 100% truth ... and i cannot agree enough ... Many are commenting their thoughts and opinions about how relatable this situation is ... But when we go back we'll face the same inequality again .. Many girls who don't face this at home , they face it when they go out in public... I'm happy for all the girls who have their parents support with them regardless the society taunting them for supporting their daughter...

My parents have taught me to respect and value everyone. I was never forced to learn anything that i was not interested in. I was respected for having an opinion and was always encouraged to follow my dreams. This same upbringing, I am now passing onto my son (10 yrs old). He sees my husband cooking and cleaning at home, when i am busy and vice versa. And now He too has gotten into a habit of helping around the house whenever he can. There is no gender specific roles in my house. I am sure my son would not grow up to be a misogynist and would respect his future partner and all the ladies he gets to meet in his life.

@@rinkisingh2319I agree with you but it seems she did not have time as she was studying, at least that’s what I got from the comment. As long as she helps with other things around the home and will learn to cook also after studies are over then it’s not a big deal. That’s what a marriage is, sometimes you have to support your partner when they don’t have the time. When I was working and also studying, my husband did a lot. But then later when my husband had an additional project he was working on after work, I was the one that handled most things as he didn’t have the time. But both things benefited both of us in the long run so it was worth the additional effort. A wife’s studies will help the husband later on as she will earn more. I did not comment on hiring cook as I don’t live in India so that’s not an option for us, but yes I suppose that is also okay but if the wife is not working and also paying tuition they may not have the money to do so.

Exactly! That's the problem with the society.....they judge a girl firstly by her cooking skills etc whereas in the case of a man the rules change. There's nothing bad if a man can offer help. In your case, I think it shows how the society todays thinks, it's really disheartning! Great that you talked about it👍Such ppl must get an answer & be ignored.

Problem in India is actually the boys are babied by their mothers and then their mothers teach their daughter in law how she did all their works and how lazy they are that they can't even do that this. Somehow they think they are proud of their son being like this. The problem is in the roots like they don't leave the house before marriage so they don't know how to do basic household work chopping brooming dusting cooking washing etc.

It's not westernization which has made them this way but that's how they look at women. They try to shame women for having this control that they can be sexually active before marriage. Because women were always a sex slave to them that's what they think about their wives a free maid who they can f**k. sex is not something which happens between two individuals but it's only for them that's their mentality. These men who say these things are the same ones who just want to sleep with anyone. And sorry girl but our culture is the one from where they have learned this thing. That a woman only belongs to a man and they have sex with their husband. It's this purity culture problem and if that's what they say then tell them according to their logic men are the real prostitutes here. F**k I will Marry a prostitute rather than these kinds of men.

Hats off to you for bringing this up on your platform. This is a very important conversation. Men nowadays want an educated and working wife but do not want to help out at home because they feel it’s not their job to do so. It’s ridiculous. I cook everyday and my husband washes the dishes and helps clean the house and other chores because we live in Canada and we don’t have any househelp. It’s just not possible to cook roti after cooking dinner every time. It takes a lot of time and we have to make a large amount at once because we don’t have time to make fresh roti three times a day. We both work full time. Its a normal thing to get roti from out when both are working. This entitlement of “I deserve this because I am a man” definitely comes form upbringing. My MIL has a job too so my husband (an only child) never grew up pampered like this. He had to help out at home. But my mom stayed home and so my brother never stepped foot in the kitchen. I, of course, had to help because “who would marry me if I didn’t know anything?” Nowadays even women are looking for men that know at least basic things.

Whenever I see such comments from men under a women's video, I open their profile to check their images ( usually they have anime pictures or are "men" under 25 years old). There mothers are still probably washing their underwear and they feel they can leave such comments and say "didi ko bura lagg gaya". No wonder they will be depressed and lonely in their 40's because no women puts up with such BS in this generation. Being a girl, in my home my little brother makes tea, brooming the house & washing dishes. My mum have taught all her children me my sister & little brother equally 😂. Sometimes i feel , my brother will be best husband material when grows up. We have taught him really well to take care of women since he has lived majority of his life with 3 females at home 😁. My uncle taunts my brother for doing house chores but he doesn't mind. Although he sometimes refuses to do chores , but it is not for the feeling of "entitled"but just like a bickering competition & friendly fight among every sibling. He knows beating a girl is bad, he knows women shouldn't be only one to take care of the house etc and all this he feels without having the notion "Im doing Ahsaan on women by helping them". I'm proud of my chutku brother ❤ Mera chutku proudly true mama's boy h jo actually me female ki respect krna janta h, na ki vo jo maa k anchal chuph kr females ki disrespect ko justify krte h

I am a person who usually cooks in my household because my mom is working and we as in my sister and I both are studying. Yes, a girl should indeed know how to handle a household as such but it also applies to boys as well. They should know about this as well, as it's a life skill. Yes, I know that cooking food also includes making roti and all, but as a person who is learning how to make roti and all, both a guy and a girl should know how to make one. It shouldn't be like that. If a girl makes roti for the first time and it isn't as good as your mother's, don't shame her. If a guy does the same, he is praised because apparently, he did it for the very first time. Like... WHAT?! 👀

I am one of that girl who lives in the house full of men like you have said. And you don't have even 1% idea that what we went through every freaking day. It's very tough. My family can afford house help but we don't have because obviously why wife and daughter is there if we need house help. My family never want to me earn money, after completing my college, , I got job within 20 days that too in the time when companies were making lay offs, I worked for three months but in that three months my family was so much so against me, that mental torture was so brutal that I gave up and left the job even when I choose the shift when I complete the all household chores. I was the topper of my school and college, I was 2nd rank holder in my town in class 12th. And I never got the opportunity to go out for studies and now I am in home and doing all household chores everyday. I am definitely not saying doing that is wrong but I don't want to spent my life doing that for my whole life. My family is upper middle class family, I have good clothes to wear, good food to eat but phir bhi I don't feel like living anymore. It feels like I am in some luxurious prison. I don't even remember the last day I went out of my home😢 Even I cried for almost whole day yesterday, and my mom is the only reason I am living, otherwise I was not even commenting today, as I was so damn suicidal last night. You are actually privileged if you have such supportive men around you❤

Every word you said throughout the video is absolutely true. I just want to add one point to all of this discussion about the gender equality thing, like we want our girls to be given freedom to choose whether or not they want to cook. Same way we need to also teach them that they just can't sit idle and expect the men in their lives to earn and provide. While we want the ladies to be freed of the burden of the patriarchal norms, we need to lift the burden of being a provider from the men of our society. This is for some of sensible men in our society. Leaving aside the kind of men you referred in the video, they have a long way to go. And obviously this depends from household to household. somewhere women can be comfortable being a homemaker and men takes the role of being a provider, it's the way they function, but either of it shouldn't come with an entitlement.
