The two even had that convo during the New Years Stream - If she hadn't joined Vshojo, she was going to go solo as an Indie. It would have taken forever for people to find her that way. Her debuting as Matara via Vshojo just sped up the process massively. She would have had to do what Mint was thinking about - work in retail and barely make ends meet and do that for a long while while rebuilding her community as one of the largest NijiEN VTubers

Going way back to her Monkeyism days, it's important to remember that she was originally a politically active facecam streamer who thrived on confrontation. She stated in one of her videos that she'd didn't like being that person, which is why she auditioned to join Nijisanji. Too bad the internal abuse ruined that dream for her, but the experience did change her as a person. I think it pushed her to be much closer to the person she wanted to be. VShojo has from all appearances been the place that really completes her journey. She gets do the content she wants at the pace she wants, and she has high enough expectations for herself that her content remains good.

imo its kinda funny, that Nina was one of the first vtubers that YT spoiled a PL with, and i explored a bit more. Funny enough, it didnt put me off her, she had her opinions and thats fine, but you saw she wanted to change in some aspects. Not only did those few small Monkeyism clips help me understand her just a little, and actually make me view Vtubers, still in EN infancy, in a whole other light. Made me understand, they are even more than just a person in a camera, they are a streamer that works hard and is Real but that this Job can allow them freedom to change unlike other content creator avenues at the time.

While I'm not an oshi man, Nina was always one of my favorite Vtubers in not only Niji, but also in general, and I was devastated when she graduated; I think I watched nearly 10 hours of her graduation stream (something I've never done before). That being said, I also can't deny how much more lively and relaxed Matara has been since joining Vshojo. Whether fox or roach, I will always adore her and wish her the best in life and all her future endeavors.

The reaosn why Fox Mom (Nina) was hated because some of her jokes were taken WAY too seriously for many people. She quit Nijisanji because of a multitude of factors going on. Mainly Impostor Syndrome, and her working conditions. By the time she got into VShojo as Roach Mom (Matara), the hate suddenly died down, and now she has more support than ever before.

Most of that would depend on Doki taking the first step. Despite being one of the most popular female VTubers out there, she's still very introverted and rarely reaches out to other people that are not already in her circle of friends, even though some of them (like Sayu) have said they wouldn't mind collabing with her. Heck, if Mint hadn't reached out to her, those two would probably still not have reunited by now.

Man where do i start? Nina debuted in a time that was new to me. I came to understand the Idol/Vtuber industry with Myth and the very soon after Graduation of Coco, which was something weird but different and actually generated feelings of loss, even though i didnt know her too well. Then came Sana and it was a whole new light for me being able to enjoy streamers and streams as an avenue of entertainment, and yet sadly the one who cemented that-Left. I did what she wanted and supported those still left and brought joy to me and whatever i could do in support for their activites-then Nina came. WOW, somebody comfy, so real and direct. Someone who knew what they were and wanted and made such a direct impact on my viewing habits. If Myth started me on the Path, and Council provided the Foundation, then Nina was the Guiderails of navigation of why i watch VTubers today and caused an abundance of knowledge i didnt expect, but greatly enjoyed. Her's was the first Fan Discord i Joined after figuring out how Discord worked, and was excited to tune in while driving from customer to customer because it was a nice environment. When she left i was genuinely sad, but unlike Sana before her, it wasnt a happy sad, it was empty. But i will never forget, during my vacation in Japan, 13hrs ahead of my usual timezone, on a random train-Matara gave me happy tears. While i cant support her like i used to or sometimes want to, I am so glad she still has a strong community-even stronger than before, that can support her and finally a place where she can be who she wants to be.

I am so glad we are now at an era where Older Women are very much appreciated and it is not for "MILF" Reasons. I don't really watch Nijisanji in the past but I know damn well [Nina Kosaka]/[Matara Kan] is a treasure, regardless of their current form.

It's funny you included a clip of her Monster Girl Tierlist. She actually streamed that after she had decided to graduate, but before it was announced. In retrospect, she was clearly work-shopping new character ideas. There's a lot that went on at Nijisanji that we probably won't ever know about. It's probably not healthy to speculate *too* much, but we know some of it was pretty bad. Nina was a successful creator before joining Nijisanji, and a conspicuously confident person. The woman who walked out was not the woman who walked in. After first joining VShojo she was super cagey. She was super worried about saying the wrong thing or that fans would turn on her. She talked about how she was worried for the safety of Nina cosplayers, which is horrifying enough, but double-sucks because Nina was one of the best VTuber designs ever. The conversations she had with ironmouse on New Year's was also telling. Mouse has been part of her support network since before she graduated from Nijisanji. Things were not OK over there. Thank God she's in a better situation now. She's among friends, she has a support network, and supportive management. It doesn't hurt that she's making *a lot* more money.

As someone who didn't instantly like Nina early on, she ended up becoming one of my favorites to watch towards the end of her Niji stint and still one I enjoy now as Matara. The only issue is I rarely venture to Twitch anymore soooo... yeah. Sad. But I don't understand why people dislike her so passionately...or hate really. It's not like she's unapologetically brash or anything, as she definitely apologizes way too much *cough*Canadian*cough* for being how she is...which I wish she didn't because she shouldn't feel like she has to. She may be younger than me by 2 years or so, but the age similarity really made me relate to her a lot more than many of the younger talents out there. Similar music and games growing up, and so there was that familiarity. While I understand the "Mom" vibes because of the caring and warmth she brings, I just can't ever call her "Mom" because she's younger than I am. If I call any woman other than my own mother "Mom" it'll have to be the mother of my kids. I'm just saying.

Nina was actually the reason I got invested in Nijisanji back then. She gave the whole group an unique vibe, more than co-worker or friends, but like a family. She truly deserved the nickname of mom of NijiEN. Some of the best memories with her were during her graduation month as everyone remembered how much she had done for the entire group. In a way her lore as keeper of luck had far reaching consequences as it went downhill faster than you could look as the people who glued the group together slowly left one after another. I will always be grateful to her, as you get a lot more growth by going through bad times and improving. Fly high bug mom I will be watching with a smile ^^

I chose the VTuber path and used to struggle to make content following community standard. Like, because VTuber is seen as Entertainment for most people, I used to get stuck when I'm making a content with depressing topics. But, nvm, I'm going through it now. Just portray a depressing image all the way is easier than trying to make a bright story. And survivorship bias doesn't tell a story about those who severely wounded but still lives on, or those who rise up from under the earth. We're struggling, but we're not fallen, that's what I say in place of other small VTubers who are not straight chat reading bots.

Nina / Matara to me feels similar in personality and just kind of the vibe you get from watching her streams as Lilly Satou from Katawa Shoujo. Both Lilly and Matara have this aura around them of just being around them or interacting with them feels like the equivalent of a warm, reassuring hug.
