I have a cousin who's a mortician. He was always weird, and one things everyone in the family would say when he first started out was that none of us wanted him around our bodies when we die because we're afraid he'll do something weird.

My uncle was a mortician and I wanted to follow in his footsteps when I was younger. He had some interesting stories! Now I know I wouldn’t have the stomach for it but he helped me understand and come to terms with death and I respect him so much. When he passed 2 years ago it helped that I knew he wouldn’t be sad about it. He had a very respectful relationship with death and had many books on how to correctly deal with grieving families to ease the process for them. He was a wonderful man. When we cleaned out his house I found a baby picture of me on his dresser. I love you Uncle Bobby ❤

This is my opinion is the best horror project ever made. The scares are good but they combine the scares with top tier dialogue and writing which is what makes it great . Even other horror projects like midsommar or hereditary don't hold a candle to Hill house with writing and dialogue

7:51 - ohhhh, wasps will build nests on all sorts of stuff and make it look *so* creepy. Paper wasps especially, but mud wasps too. There's some really good photos on Reddit of all sorts of weirdly shaped wasp nests. 21:52 - it sounds like migraines with aura. Some people see flashes of lights or colours or have other weird visual stuff happen, other people get things like ringing in their ears or other auditory distortions, and some people get super anxious. (My aunt has the rare olfactory auras - she gets a really, really disgusting smell, like burning trash, that won't go away.) Usually, people who have migraines with aura get them about 10-20 minutes before the migraine itself hits.

I go completely blind. Terrified me the first time, until a doctor explained. Now I see it as a gift, because I take meds, down a glass of water, and try to pass out before the pain hits. All about the location. My mom would be in debilitating pain all day.

Easter egg: Theo is reading "The Lottery" when she is outside. It is a collection of short stories and books written by Shirley Jackson. You should watch the original film version, The Haunting 1963, which stays quite close to the original book. It is still considered one of the best haunted house movies ever made.

I FULLY AND SERIOUSLY recommend His Dark Materials, which is the tv show adaption of the series The Golden Compass.' (Which was a movie adaption with Nicole Kidman but it flopped years ago.' This one has Dafne Keen, the little girl from Logan (she's X-23, Logan/Wolverines daughter) James Mcvaovy, and Lin Manuel Miranda. It's a fantasy series, it's super good. Great acting, SUCH AN INTERESTING plot I feel like y'all would like.

Re: your question about insurance in the US: the whole thing is essentially robbery. Policies can be hard to get and hard to keep; many insurance providers will fight hard to NOT cover costs when people actually DO need them; and without insurance policies the prices of most healthcare is WILDLY inflated because there's little to no government regulation to prevent companies from price-gouging for extra profit.

There are many motifs or, I suppose you could say, themes used in this series. A _few_ that were highlighted in this episode were 1) _houses as living entities,_ 2) time to _come home_ motif, 3) analogy between the kittens and the Crain children, which is related to the _number 5_ motif, 4) the _dogs_ motif, 5) the _wall banging_ motif and 6) the _fixing_ motif. The fact that the Crain children, sans Nell, all woke-up at 3 after the hour tells us that some of the Crains (Steve, his wife Leigh, Nell and Luke) live in California (1203) and the rest (Hugh, Shirley and Theo) live on the East Coast (303). Specifically, Shirley and Theo live in Massachusetts, which is where the _House_ also is. Hugh lives in Florida. Nell flew from California to Massachusetts and met her fate at the House. Hugh, the father, thought Nell was still in California when he talked to her last episode. The number 3 is symbolic. In this story, it stands for several things. It represents past, present, and future. There's a _time motif._ It also represents birth, life, and death. It's when Nell died. It's also considered a _magic_ number, so it evokes the supernatural. The fact that Steve, Shirley, Theo and Luke all woke-up at 3 after the hour tells us it's NOT mental illness but supernatural, as if we had any doubts on that score. Steve did see Nell's ghost before he knew she was dead. It shocked him, but he's in _denial_ about it all. The significance of the purple box is, I think, clear.

The House on Haunted Hill is another horror movie that got a remake around the same time as the Haunting of Hill House in the 90s, this show is a version of the story that's very different from the original (which is based on a book of the same name by Shirley Jackson, highly recommend if anyone is a fan of horror books). With characters being basically reimagined and reformed into one family, originally none of them are related and most of them are strangers to one another, some aren't even alive for the main story. A lot of the imagery in the house, like the creepy baby/cherub statues and the lion heads are also a reference to the original story

Never really noticed my first times watching hill house but when the mom says “ kittens are not supposed to be without their mommies “ “no matter how much you love them you are not their mommy” it’s kinda what happens to them and how Shirley felt she needed to be that figure for all her siblings,mending anything that they could be going through

The more we learn the traumas on them all, it makes it easier to understand their reactions to things. The time jumps feel completely natural and are a welcome occurrence to distract from the present-day tragedies. I dont do funerals due to trauma and the fact I dont like it being the last memory of those I love. Yes, I still pay my respects. So I def couldnt be a Mortician, but so thankful to those who can. I relate to this show a crazy amount. To start I met my wife because she was talking about it and I had just finished it and I couldn’t help but jump in the conversation because the show was just so good (and she’s hot) 😂 I’m one of five kids, the second oldest and first boy. I have an older sister and three younger brothers. My mom was very mentally unwell and passed when I was a teenager. My dad was distant and quiet. One of my younger brothers who I love very much is a professionally manipulative crackhead who I haven’t seen in five years. My sister has major control issues because of our mom. I relate to this show and to Steve’s presence and problems and worldview and mistakes so much it’s almost hard to watch over and over and over again like I do 😂 oh and I definitely lived in a haunted house for a while. Noises through the walls at night, doorknobs jiggling, bare foot prints on the porch in the frost. Just so relatable 👀😂

A lot of cultures it is very normal for family to take care of the body and funeral. In our culture we don't really want to see death, so this career is weird to us, especially her choosing to do it for her own sister. I can see how it could be healing though. I wouldn't recommend for anyone to try if they weren't already used to it though. She definitely judged Theo, but they judged her pretty hard too. It just didn't feel the same because I think more of us can relate to Theo's reaction than Shirley's. Shirley sending Luke away was so sad, but I do think she was right. Unfortunately there was no perfect solution as soon as he got high. Better she think he couldn't make it, than see him high and have him do something at the wedding to ruin it more. It doesn't make it any less heartbreaking though.

This show actually has very little directly scary big jump scares for a horror show, there's a few in the first episode then maybe one or two per (with the biggest scare, imo, happening in Theo's episode) and then of course the final episode ramps it up, but it's really better at building tension and dread and making you wonder 'what in the world happened/what's about to happen?'

I've had migraines before. Thankfully, I don't get them any more. I remember watching a basketball game on TV and the announcer said that Michael Jordan was playing with a migraine. I'm sorry, but that's BS. It hurts to _BREATHE_ when you have a migraine. There's no way in hell you can play basketball, with all the running & jumping. He may have had a headache, but he didn't have a migraine, I can promise you that. I don't know what she meant by "color storm", but I can tell you, when I got them, I literally could barely see.
