Have you ever considered how important the name of a car can be? Automotive companies can spend billions developing a new model, then hand it off to the marketing department and say, “Don’t mess this up!” Most companies play it safe, and we end up with another name like Camry or Accord. But sometimes a company will just go for it, and that’s how we end up with something like this, the Haval BIG DOG. A car who’s name can only be written in capital letters. But is having one of the best names ever bestowed on a vehicle enough to make this a compelling option in the compact SUV market?

I think drawing comparisons between the Chinese and other car brands and saying the chinese ones are "inspired" by the later, is just unfair. I mean now a days, all cars have at least some similarities between them. I know their reputation and history doesn't help but these are good looking and extremely capable, affordable vehicles, people just want an excuse to discredit the Chinese. Pathetic.

I understand what you're saying but while the basics are all similar, the graphics amongst well known car manufacturers tend to remain unique to the brand and a lot of times inspired by models from the past. A lot of chinese manufacturers have really impressive designs but some just outright resemble other models too much to be ignored.

Can you review the WEY/HAVAL Tank 300 next???? It's a proper 4x4 with ladder-frame chassis, front and rear lockers and a solid rear axle that's similar in design to this. More of a competitor to the Wrangler as you mention in this review!

It is, I sat in one a couple of weeks ago. And after sitting in a Forester, CRV, Rav4 and Tiguan (all of them being more expensive), I have to admit that the Dargo’s interior just feels much more expensive, better material mix and far better equipped for less price.

Some Haval vehicles are sold in Latin America, and other Chinese brands, and some Chinese brands are entering the European market, such as BYD which is starting to sell in Norway.

Tank 300 and Big Dog are for different market segments. there are talks bigger Tank 300 called Tank 600 is underway. so stay tuned if you are interested in off-roader.

I own one and i can say is verry good . The gearbox is improved from the last generation , the engine have enough power for dayli driving and the media , whit the big screen look s greate. Also have acc , lane keeping assistent , tja , intersection assitent , basicly drive herself .only one inconvenience , alway say to keep the hands on the sterring whell.i recomand althoru don t bring to europe

Haval is a brand that is sold in Bulgaria. What I am wondering about is really that they're selling 500.000 units per month in China but have only two motors, the 1.5L and the 2.0L turbo-charged petrol engines. A company that has a variety of models should have at least a 2.0L and a 2.5L turbo-charged Diesel engine. And there is no-plug-in hybrid. I would be more interested on a review of the Wey VV5 2021 to check the interior and whether it is a hybrid and to see what L3 autonomous driving functionality it offers. So, please do a review of the Wey VV5 2021 if possible. Thx.

A 2.0T Diesel is already available in the GWM Pao/Cannon and from the reviews/tests, it is a pretty good engine, easily comparable to Mainstream brands. 2.5L Diesel however is not in the works due to present & future environmental legislation. Mild Hybrid & Full EVs are their main focus right now.

I have never heard of a Haval, it's strange how different companies have vehicles only sold in certain countries. It's sorta cute. I think it sorta looks like a baby Kia Telluride. I also really like the interior. I think the air vents look like the ones in the New Kia Sorento.
