Yuru Camp Season 2 established itself as one of anime's greatest iyashikei--or, healing--works thanks to it's impeccable vibes and it's leads' meditative connection to nature. Here, we look at how it celebrates Rin's introversion and the joys in contemplative time alone--a critical reminder of the possibilities you have even in a pandemic. Enjoy!

Yuru Camp is perfect in many ways: very relaxing, not a strict storyline, likeable characters, celebrates Rin's introversion and embracing every character's personality perfectly, and peaceful. SOL anime has its own quality in which the "boring" and "uneventful" parts eventually become one of the best scenes as you look back at it. Other genres don't have this kind of charm to them and this is all the more reason why this type of shows should be appreciated more. It really is a tad bit sad that not many people know the charm in SOL animes.

I noticed this myself, partway through watching the first episode of season 2 I found myself just smiling constantly, which is something that seldom happens watching anything. The music, the characters, their situations and interactions, the combination is just indescribably pleasing, somehow on a subconscious level, almost. I think it would take a hard heart or a deliberate need to be contrary to dislike this show when watching it.

Damn, your point about how Rin as a character is something less often seen, the loner type but who also isn't portrayed a certain way and is just vibing with loneliness hit different. Even Super Cub airing this season has a sort of loner character but she has this super dark backstory to her along with that. I'm not sure I can even off the head name another show so potent in just appreciating loneliness.

You can really see the passion behind Yuru Camp. Afro (the mangaka) has this wonderful way of putting the joys and experiences of camping and traveling into every panel of the manga, while still slipping in some cool and informative information about camping or cooking or Yamanashi itself. I’m sad that there doesn’t seem to be that much in terms of push for the series here in the west (come on! At least give me a blu ray to buy! T^T), but at least we have the manga and the anime to keep us comfy.

Despite the pandemic mainly being over, as someone who's struggling with social anxiety i can't help but feel like those feelings of isolation have been an everyday. And I've been working on it, looking after myself and I've definitely gotten better. Sometimes though I still feel like I have a long way to go. This video has kind of reminded me though not to worry about things outside of my control and to just enjoy what i have in this isolation so I'm ready to face the world head on when the time comes. I may as well enjoy spending time with myself instead of wishing what could be. Just some thoughts I had after watching this. Great video btw. Really encapsulates why I love the series so much in a nice way with your own personal stories.

Because of Yuru Camp I went to Japan, went to Yamanashi alone, and camped solo in front of Lake Motosu, Mt. Fuji. It's the same location where Rin got her very first experience in camping, it was my first camping experience as well and I embraced it as much as I could. Made a friend there, we did bbq at night and ate Curry Ramen in the morning at the camp. It still feels like a dream. It's very hard for any anime fan from India with limited financial resources to do such things in life. It's all thanks to Rin and Yuru Camp. Yes I'm an introvert and I love solo travelling and camping. 🏕️

While i've currently only watched the first couple episodes i have to say: i appreciate rins character so much, while we aren't one in the same (i'm certainly a lot less capable than rin) i can see and feel a lot of myself in rin, her quiet expressions and desire to appreciate the alone, just a quiet and introverted but also normal character, with many shows pushing more extreme and colorful personality tropes its not something you see much, and so rin is one of the first characters i've encountered that just clicks with me on a personal level And also just the premise of yuru camp itself, most shows are much more about drama and/or action, but yuru camp is just peaceful, its something i didn't know i wanted but its one of my favorite things now, and it encapsualates and gives a reference to a lot of my own creative desires in a way the power fantasy and drama shows never could

I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of why Rin's character works for so many of us; I've never been able to put my finger on it properly before but the show and manga are perfect in showing that being an introvert and being happy doing some things on our own aren't a bad thing, and that those qualities don't mean we can't participate or interact with others at all.

Glad to see that I'm not alone, thinking that Yuru Camp is a really great series. A perfect brew of an anime. It too reminded me of the times I went camping via school activities. though, I remember more of the camping part than the activities (LoL). The nostalgia and the warm-relaxing feeling comforted me every time I watch each episode. And hearing the announcement for season 2 lifted me up during the first year of pandemic. I dare say Yuru Camp is one of the top, if not, the peak of what Slice of life genre can offer. (And I'm ready to die on this hill.) Love the video, Under The Scope! I legit discovered this anime in mid-january, so not even 3 full months ago at the time of writing this comment. And it almost instantly became my favourite anime of all times. Heck, episode 1 of season 1 is so peaceful, it might just be my favourite episode of all times, all animes combined. The chill atmosphere, soundtrack, and god-tier attention to details, make this the perfect anime for me. Also, while I always enjoyed camping, Rin has had the same effect on me as Nadeshiko: I actually want to try solo-camping, so about an hour ago, I actually booked a spot at a nearby campground just outside of town (I don't have a car). I will spend 2 days at that campground in August (It was the earliest I could have 2 straight days on a spot on the edge of the lake). And I'm super excited to try it out. Obviously, I will bring my full set of Yuru Camp Manga to read hahaha.

Yuru Camp was what come the closes of the Aria series for me (my iyashikei reference). As someone who go camping alone as well, it was easy to like Rin since like you said, isn't everyday that this kind of character is portrayed in the anime media, and quite well. The franchises is something that you can feel the work and dedication put on it in every episode. You told about personal experiences having a influence, I don't know with you like or ride motorcycles, but give a watch in the first episode of Super Cub that works quite well as a standalone episode. Very well made (artistically and technical speaking), a lot of attention to details and these little challenges and personal rewards of overcome them. It gave me a bit of the A Place Further than the Universe feeling and was quite nostalgic.

Yuru Camp is strangely enough, one of the most hard-hitting and emotional shows for me. Watching Season 2 amidst the pandemic really reminded me of my "solo camp" living alone in a foreign country for a long time. Rin's quote really resounded well to me. And Eri Sasaki's ED songs really bring the message home even more. Ahhhh... what more can I really say about Yuru Camp? It's definitely my kind of show, my description of what anime really is, and an experience that I'd do in fantasy and in reality.

You did a pretty good job of seamlessly combining objective comments about the show's quality with your own subjective personal experiences and I think that's an underrated quality from reviewers. You could have merely tried to be as "objective" as possible, and likewise it would have been easy to go on a long melodramatic rant about feelings or something, but you found the perfect middle ground with basically going, "Here's the show and what its appeal is, here's why it appealed to me and why it would probably appeal to you too," and it was just crisp and on-point. I like all of your videos but I have to say I think this one is one of your best, love your approach to talking about anime and keep up the great work!

What I love about this anime is how relaxed the plot is. I love putting this anime on while I’m grinding on a switch or xbox game. Its simple and easy to follow along that just makes me feel relaxed. Aoi for best girl btw

I started watching anime recently after checking out Bocchi the Rock! on a whim. I'd say now is a point where I'm at my lowest point mentally and emotionally, at the recommendation of a friend I decided to check out Laid-Back Camp and I can't get enough of it. This show really keeps my mood lifted whenever I watch it, and as a Chef at heart the fact that a huge portion of this anime is dedicated to just talking about, cooking and eating food just warms my heart. I just finished the second season and I'm about to check out the movie, and of course I'm looking forward to Season 3. Wish I knew about anime like this sooner, I feel like I missed out on so much
