When I used to make spinach dip using Knorr's veggie soup, and I didn't have water chestnuts, I used celery. Was much easier to chop and I normally had celery in the fridge, where I didn't keep the water chestnuts in the cupboard.

Great idea 😊The recipe I always used (pre WFPB ) had water chestnuts. That was back in the 80’s when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

I’m thinking it would be good to do a light dusting of your mushroom gravy powder over the top of some of that dip. Zucchini boats filled with the dip will be delicious. Filler for veggie sushi. Quesadilla filling. Time to bake up some chips. The possibilities seem endless.

Just wanted to give a "SHOUT OUT" to you Dillon for your Date Powder. I know, kind of off topic, but just saying.... I love chinese, and haven't been able to come up with a healthy "stir fry" sauce to replace the very unhealthy Hoisin and Oyster sauces that i miss so much. I scoured the internet, and combined/modified a few different recipes, and came up with a "WINNER" for my very much missed Chinese Broccoli (without the beef...i do several different varieties with carrots, onions, tofu, etc...) but just love the beef& broccoli sauce)....anyway, here is the ingredients in case you want to give it a whirl yourself.... MIKES STIR FRY SAUCE (OYSTER/HOISIN REPLACEMENT) 2 Tbsp date powder (thanks dillon) 2 Tbsp rice vinegar 1 Tbsp dark soy 1 Tbsp coco aminos 1 Tbsp Siracha 2 Tbsp Peanut butter * 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 tsp 5 spice 1/4 tsp salt (optional) 1/2 tsp corn starch Fantastic! Of course, now that you have the recipe for the "BEST" stir fry sauce, you need the recipe for the "BEST" Vegan Chinese NON-BEEF & Broccoli...let me know if you want it....i was just so excited how it came out, I had to share! You can use it with Kung Pao, or any of your favorite stir-fry's. *if allergic to peanuts, try tahini
@lizzzarduh3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing I’m gonna try it! Peanut butters seems a little non traditional for hoisin sauce
@Matt25_1-133 жыл бұрын
@@lizzzarduh If you google "hoisin peanut butter" you will find many recipes doing that. When i created "Mikes Hoisin", i literally checked out dozens of recipes and experimented with different combinations of many of them, and I am very happy with what i finally ended up with...also when you think about it many chinese recipes use peanuts and other nuts, including my favorite kung pao, so i don't think it is too far fetched, and I actually think i like it better than store bought hoisin or oyster sauce that i typically use. I also use a lot of spicy ingredients in my stir frys, so the peanut is not so pronounced...e.g. red pepper, chili oil, schezwan peppercorn, 5 spice, etc...
@lizzzarduh3 жыл бұрын
@@Matt25_1-13 I’ll definitely try it. I have some gochugaru spice I can add !

a ricer would be good for straining out the water from the spinach, and Costco sells artichoke hearts in water it has been a while since I purchased them, therefore I cannot see if they contained salt. This will be one of the things I take for Thanksgiving dinner.

Other firmly planted vessels for this yummy dip include, are you ready(?): belgian endive (fancy!), collard greens (soulful!), mini potato skins (devilishly good), butter lettuce or iceberg cups or wraps (Asian fusion style), as an alternative to pizza sauce on halved French loafs/English muffins/flat bread (Abbondanza!), larger bell pepper thirds (God’s spoons), as a topping for leftover hash or hashbrowns (potato potahto), as a sauce for spaghetti squash (Ssssssso good!), and as a flavoring for brown rice or quinoa or neatloaf!
