The Khan maybe a warrior of great prowess and strength , but he is also a champion of humanity and a noble son of the Emperor. The Khan may be harsh and blunt, but in truth he has a noble heart of a hero that is worth his praise and love.

You know, everyone usually defaults to the Salamanders as the original "nice guys" of the legions, but many people forget that White Scars are genuinely nice, compassionate and educated people when they're not slicing shit up and cackling maniacally on the battlefield

The little moments of compassion are all the brighter and more brilliant because of how bleak the setting is. In Star Wars it would be taken for granted but in 40K where characters each now the worth and value of a single life compared to a space marine; it is exactly these moments that exhibit how Space Marines are more than just weapons and how they care for the lives of others.

I believe Shiban had one of the most interesting character develepoment throughtout the books and i was glad that he had his moment to shine and show his humanity. Also , even when Cole died Shiban despite the pain of the blast, the exhaustion , lack of food and water he still carried his dead body to the safe zone, honoring him and probably preventing his body to be desecrated from the demons or the mutants on the frontline. He trully represents his father values and principiles making him worthy to be a strong 2nd leader for the legion.

White scars are the most practical astartes imo, they are extremely utilitarian in design, from the colors they wear to the very name. They are not necessarily secretive in nature just, need to know basis. Incredibly jacked super soliders using hit and run tactics at lightning speeds. Doing there best to dable as little in the warp beyond the bare necessity. As well as a consistent value of human lives. These guys are a very needed source of balance within the grimdark. If I had only three legions to defend the whole of the imperium Ultramarines space wolves and white scars. (Not my top three favorite, just the most useful imo)

Vulkan and Jaghatai meet: Vulkan: "My dear brother! Give me a hug!" Jaghatai quickly dodges out of Vulkan's embrace: "Brother please, you know that is not comfortable for me." Vulkan: "Ah yes, we have not slewn enough of Father's enemies together yet. But I brought you something as a token of brotherhood! For my brother friend" Vulkan indicates over his shoulder to a prinarch-crafted jetbike in gleaming white ceramyte armor, gilded in masterful artistry depicting the Fauna of Chigoris and Nocturne, marked in both traditional white scars stories, and Salamanders brands of honour. Vulkan is caught off guard as Jaghatai wraps him in a big hug and lifts the Nocturnean giant off his feet Jaghatai,: "Is it fast brother?" Vulkan: "Do Mortarions farts stink?" Both laugh and head off for a few glasses of Nocturnean beer and tales of recent adventure.

I would have preferred that the soldier be given the Emperor's mercy, which I feel is being sympathetic and fitting for a space marine and their fluff. I can't believe I will have to read another John French novel to continue the series. I absolutely couldn't stand The Solar War and hate the way he writes Space Marines and Primarchs. It took me 10 months to get through that book but Guy Haley was next in line. And I love his writing, so I struggled through it. I finished the second novel in 2 weeks and loved every second of it. Probably one of the best Black Library book I have picked up in a while. I may just find a detailed summary for Mortis. I don't think I can do another 300+ pages of French unless somebody can vouch for it being a better read. Just purchased The First Wall. It's been a long long time since I have read Gav Thorpe's stuff. I remember liking the couple of books I read of his. But anyway, great video Rho. I so enjoy listening to them and hearing your insight.

I feel like a lot of the loyal legions had a group that turned traitor. Is it just because half the legion fell and was not killed that the Dark Angels have such an issue with it and hide it? I always felt like they would have been welcomed back still by all the other legions and because of this all the other parts of the imperium. Was it just the pride of the lion and the first legion?

I don't hate the White Scars, and it's nice to hear they are truly heroic. The Khan, though? Incredibly stupid person. How this man won wars, is beyond me. Getting himself captured by the Drukhari, by being dumb enough to follow them into their own lands was an incredible stroke of stupidity. Still, though, as Astartes tend to take after their Primarch, I can only wonder at what depths of compassion and self sacrifice in the name of Humanity the Khan, himself, was capable of. At this point, the Primarchs I love are Roboute Guilliman, Corvus Corax, Vulkan, Angron (who was, without a doubt, the most compassionate of them all, bar none and hands down, until he was abused and corrupted beyond redemption) and Magnus (whom I believe was probably a very compassionate and caring man, before he'd been betrayed by his evil, murderous "brother", Leman Russ, who gleefully accepted the order to commit an act of extermination against the innocent. Then, there's the Khan to add to that list.
