Yehoshua is Yeshua in short, transliterated (keeping the sound) into Greek as we can see in the original Greek new testament is Iesous or English Jesus...

@dsheppard84923 ай бұрын
Don't fall for this doctrine. the trinity is a false understanding of God's nature and person. Otherwise you have a three headed God like the pagans thrive on. The eternal son doctrine is also heresy. Consider Thomas words, calling Jesus his Lord and his God. At that moment the revelation of the spirit was upon him to understand this concept fully. He did not believe till that moment that Jesus was God as he had claimed,,," He who sees me has seen the father" "have I been with you so long and yet you do not know me".
@benoitcordoba40855 ай бұрын
I think it is useful to mention that "Kurios" was used as a circumlocution, a way to avoid pronouncing the name out of respect. Something that Jesus did as well. This explains why the Greek word is "Lord" and not some other word or name that could have tried to evoke the meaning of "Ehyeh". Also, I think Matthew 28 "lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Is very much a reminder of this meaning of the name of God.

Interesting connections - thanks for sharing. It seems to me that while the name "Jesus" was relatively common, at the same time the immanence of his physical manifestation as a man during his earthly ministry in turn removes the barrier (the curtain is torn) to God's "otherness/incomprehensibleness" and grants us greater access to Him in a way previously not experienced by His people. There seems to be a deliberateness to the discontinuation of using the Divine Name in the New Covenant for the very reason that we now have access to the throne of grace and that the unfolding of God's redemptive plan included a focus on the name of Jesus precisely because of the nature of the change in Covenants and of our more intimate communion with the Lord.

When interpreting John 8:58, it's essential to understand the unique characteristics of the Gospel of John. Unlike the earlier Synoptic Gospels-Mark, Matthew, and Luke-John’s Gospel stands out in both its content and style. The theological claims made in John, many of which are central to Christian belief, do not appear in the earlier accounts. This raises significant questions about the authorship and timing of these theological developments. If these ideas were foundational to Christian faith, it would be expected that they appear in the earlier Gospels. The traditional attribution of the Gospel of John to John, the son of Zebedee, one of Jesus’ original disciples, also raises some concerns. If John had been a direct witness to the events, it would be unusual for his Gospel to share fewer than 10% of the same events and teachings found in Matthew's earlier Gospel. This has led many scholars to consider the possibility that John’s Gospel was written by a later Gentile author who had a more limited understanding of Jewish traditions. An additional challenge in interpreting John 8:58 lies in the translation of Jesus' words. Jesus primarily spoke Aramaic during His ministry, while the Gospel of John was written in Greek. This difference in languages introduces significant complexities, as Aramaic, like Hebrew, has linguistic nuances that do not always translate seamlessly into Greek. Understanding the original meaning and context of Jesus' words in their native language is crucial to providing an accurate interpretation. In John 8:58, Jesus says, “Before Abraham was, I am.” Many Christian interpretations take this as a declaration of Jesus' divinity, drawing a parallel to God’s words to Moses in Exodus 3:14, where God says, “I AM WHO I AM.” However, upon closer linguistic examination, this connection may not be as direct as it appears. In the Syriac-Aramaic Bible (Peshitta), Jesus' statement in John 8:58 is rendered as ANI 'ATAY (ܐܶܢܳܐ ܐܺܝܬ݂ܰܝ), which translates to "I am," a simple first-person singular statement. Similarly, in the Hebrew translation of the New Testament, the phrase ANA ITI (אנא איתי) is used, again meaning "I am" without any divine implication. By contrast, in Exodus 3:14, God uses the phrase Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh (אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה), which is a profound ontological declaration of God’s eternal being. The verb used here, HAYAH, meaning “to be,” differs fundamentally from the first-person singular pronoun ANI, used by Jesus in John. In Exodus, God is making a theological statement about His existence, while in John, Jesus is simply stating, “I am,” with no direct invocation of divinity. The key difference in language and meaning highlights that Jesus' statement in John 8:58 does not have the same divine weight as God’s declaration in Exodus. The misunderstanding arises from interpreting two different words with distinct meanings as if they were identical across languages and contexts. While the phrase “I am” might seem to echo God’s words, the linguistic evidence shows that Jesus was not equating Himself with God in the same way. In conclusion, John 8:58 should not be interpreted as Jesus declaring Himself to be God. The differences in language, context, and translation complicate this passage, showing that much of its modern interpretation may be based on a misreading of the original texts. By carefully analyzing the Aramaic and Hebrew texts, we can gain a clearer understanding of what Jesus was truly saying, and this linguistic nuance is key to a more accurate interpretation of this important biblical verse.

while pronounced similarly, the phrase being said is not 'Moloch YHWH' but 'Malakh YHWH'. The traditional language is that the Father and Son share the same divine nature, similar to how a human father and human son share the same human nature. The analogy breaks down, of course, but that is one way to think about it. As far as the name goes, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all have the name Yahweh. That is why Jesus says to baptize in the name (singular, not plural) of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

You are =ight on that YHVH in the Old Testament is Yeshua. You need one more piece of the puzzle: No where in Hebrew writing is the Name pronounced YahWay. Zero places. However in thousands of Hebrew manuscripts the vowel points show that the proper pronunciation is YeHoVah. Academia has gone down the wrong path here. Ask any Jew and they will confirm this pronunciation. The Rabbis removed a vowel (the O) to make it unpronounceable. Dr. Nehemia Gordon has researched this for over 20 years and has all the evidence on his web page.
@columkenn2 ай бұрын
I don't believe Yehovah is the correct pronunciation. The letter Waw, or Vav in modern Hebrew is also in the name YHWDH or Yehudah. The name Yehudah didn't suffer suppression during the centuries like Our Fathers name was suppressed, and it's most probable that Yehudah is pronounced the same today as in Biblical times. The name Yehudah has the same letters as Our Fathers name with the addition of the Dalet or D. You will notice there is no V sound in the name Yehudah. If you remove the Dalet or D from Yehudah you should have the correct pronunciation or a very close pronunciation of Our Fathers name. Yahuwah or Yahuway, or similar. There is no V.

You had me until it turned into 2nd century extra biblical presuppositions. The distinction is between YHWH visibly manifest as the angel of the LORD and YHWH transcendent. The text in question doesn’t say “son of God” and it sure doesn’t say God the Son.
@GatheringJacob5 ай бұрын
You make this inference that Yeshua is the angel of YHWH, when no OT writer or NT writer ever says any such thing! On top of that, Stephen in acts 7 in giving his apologetic that Yeshua is Messiah, says only that in the bush was an angel! Not even a hint that Yeshua was there with Moses! Furthermore, the writer of Hebrew goes to great lengths to say that ONLY in these last days has YHWH spoken to us in His son! Hebrews also makes a claim that Yeshua is not an angel and is greater than the angels! Lastly, in Galatians 3:19 Paul CLEARLY, destroys your argument when he says, “Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.” Paul here ABSOLUTELY makes a CLEAR distinction between the mediating angel who gave the Torah and the seed who would come! YESHUA MESSIAH IS NOT THE MALAK YHWH!!!!!!!
