Him bringing up George Orwell and then talking about art as compared to destructiveness of politics gives me shivers. I feel like that's exactly where we are.

What he says is a classic example of word salad. He throws references to classics like Orwell and uses fancy wording but everything coming out of his mouth is pretty vague and doesn't have any significance. At this point in his life he had already fried his brain with coke and absinthe...

Manson is a well spoken, intellectually brilliant human being. Honestly have never been into his art, but as a creative I understand being misunderstood and as woeful as it sounds , human beings can be extremely dedicated to misunderstanding one another.

Really one of the Greatest thinkers and satarists of our time..he is not in my wheelhouse so much being in a much younger decade of music..but I definately see and enjoy his art and his message..really a very cerebral guy..I think the masses will one day look back to his messages and see he was so much of a forward thinker and of course will not heed these messages until it's too late..that's how we roll!!..

Always liked Marilyn Manson, such a intelligent soul. Not many people are on his intellectual plateau or maturity and morality. It's refreshing to get a Marilyn Manson in the world among the many blind and ignorant people. If anyone actually listened to his music they'd immediately know his message is true and honest and comes from a place of sound reason, intelligence and general morality.

So cool to see Peaches rocking out so hard, I was not expecting her to be on this show when I clicked this video. Her art has withstood the test of time and she has just as much devotion from her fans as Manson has with his - just not as much exposure. Both artists are brave and are cultural leaders!

Watching this, 16 years later, is mind blowing, that intro already just sounded like written today! Man... I cannot admire Henry Rollins more than I already do. He's lost some of that grit you could see on his face back then, today. I really wish to hear him about the current situation in our world. I must admit I thought this was something new but is not, which doesn't make it less interesting... on the contrary it gives an even better point of view on reality. Henry Rollins is a reality check. I wish his words counted more, in this world. We need more Henry Rollins or just more of Henry Rollins!

Such an monumental episode! Manson as vulnerable and honest as he could be at that time before the Evan Rachel Wood case and Meetoo, Peaches making her TV Debut with a super hot drummer that got a a windy hair, playing instruments and surprisingly relevant prose from Janeane Garofalo and political opinions from Henry that would be too risky to express publicly today because we have made 1984 a reality (even though most of us are feeling and thinking the same). All of them have been a part of my life for decades now.

Marilyn Manson's words about the Art and the creatives work bringing something positive in the world that builds the world instead of destroying it... I couldn't relate more, as an artist and a creative I feel the same responsibility and also how at the end of the day is never enough, whatever I do trying to make the world better falls into the island of irrelevancy. I definitely must agree with Henry Rollins and his words on Manson. I've never been a Manson's fan simply because I had different tastes about heavy metal _{TOOL, Opeth, Therion... and, among the others, Henry Rollins Band of course!} and its visual side as well which is also an important part of the art of music, but always respected the guy and the artist, specially the mockery on religions he willing or not does. My view on religions!?? Simply put: the cancer of mankind... go watching what really religions look alike, on both sides of Gaza's land stripe!_

You can see in Manson’s expression and initial handshake that he himself is in the presence of greatness. It were bands such as Black Flag, Minor Threat and The Misfits which once dominated the underground music scene, with mass appeal. I’d actually love to see an interview with all of the living vocalists of that era, in a group conversation. Perhaps talking about life during that period of their lives, and what movies, books and music fueled the inspiration behind their lyrics.

This is sadly not a great interview because of the place Manson was in at the time. He was focused solely on rebuilding himself and climbing out of a deep pit of depression so he wasn't paying any attention to the political landscape at the time and had nothing to really say. It appeared he was even taken aback like he was blindsided by Henry's political questions. They surely could have had a better experience a bit earlier, like in 2005

He's a human just like us... he goes and feels like all of us in different stages of our lives. The difference is that he makes music when he feels in X or Y way and the whole world reacts to it cause he's a public figure. Let him be!!! Let him go through phases, he's human so are we! I've been depressed to the point where I want to disappear... and everyone would judge me for feeling X or Y.... my thoughts and feelings are mine.. you don't like them? F××ck it! No problem ...he's a person who expresses himself when he can Let him be! Raise your kids your way and let artists express their thoughts the way they want to. Politically, Henry always was really meh, like a lot of “progressives”, his absolute horizon is fighting bigotry, which is cool, but the bar is really low then. Other than that, he really is a centrist and mindlessly individualistic/elitist, I have even seen an interview where he praised Ayn Rand... These interviews are dated, but I guess Bush and his atrocious policies were a big deal back then.

From an outside POV, there are only two right-wing partes in America (ok, people like Bernie are legitimately left of center, but they have no influence). I have no idea where MM sits, he's always been ambiguous about down to earth politics. Besides his blatant rage against conservatism, I know he likes some Hakim Bey (some left libertarian writer). He's probably too egoist to care anyway and he's a middle class background (his father being a car dealer or something), so that scrambles the tracks a little more. Honestly, I felt weird when the biggest voices who came out to defend him against the allegations were culture war right-wingers.

"wanting to find a connection"....sounds like Marilyn was really lost and depressed. Not surprising - as he took an opposite direction from Christianity.

You're right, but I think he's talking about the period before his divorce, which was really bleak from what I gathered. He's against organized religion and hypocrites/authoritarians, not JC himself. His stance on spirituality is actually pretty unclear (especially nowadays).

@@kittavares4334 I think he needs to go back to Christ - he would be happier. I think he has a good spirit, just currupted from all the trauma and horrible things that have happened. If he resisted the shock and awe and anger in his history, he may not be in the position he's in now. Many of these stars started in broken homes and think this direction to stardum will solve the void, but it only continues it. Matt Perry would be a great example of that. Always intrigued by these fellows stories - saw Henry Rollins live and although I don't agree with some of his believes and views, still highly respect and admire him.

This is merely the Price of Fame. In some sense you’re aware that when you look to be loved and adored. To be known by humanity you are going to be judged, in a grand scale. If you have the capacity to withstand that you will. If not well that’s also a choice. At the end there is No Praise, No Blame . When you’re able to stand with integrity despite all that’s thrown at you. Then Peace has come at last. And just like Michael Jackson who played the ultimate price for his fame. We offer up our love to All who have chosen this Path! Madonna is of course included here and on it goes etc etc etc

Marilyn Manson owes his entire career to me because I was the one that invited the record producer to the show where he was seen and whom he first signed with way way back in the day when he was just a skinny little emo from Orlando playing with the spooky kids who all had taken their first names from a Starlet and their last name from a serial killer.
