Holy crap! I can't believe I didn't come to the same conclusion. Guilliman HAD to have planned this. Russ may be ultimate fighter, Alpharius Omegon the ultimate spymaster, and Dorn the ultimate defender, but Guilliman was specifically bred and raised to be the ultimate politician. Roboute knew the Indomitus Crusade would take centuries to complete and needed to ensure that the Static Tendency wouldn't erode his legitimacy while he was away. The ever encroaching forces of Chaos meant he couldn't stay on Terra to wait for the Tendency to die out and if he tried to uproot it by force the followers would just take their movement underground and pop up even stronger a few decades or a century later. This crisis was all an elaborate but calculated arrangement of dominoes, a chain reaction he had purposefully set to trigger the moment he left Terra, resulting in the self-inflicted sociopolitical and literal execution of not only the Static Tendency's believers but of the very ideology itself. I bet Tzeentch's goosebumps' goosebumps' got goosebumps.

I have held off from watching this video until finishing The Regent's Shadow and its truly wonderful. One facet I adore are the aspects of the chronicler's account that differ just ever so slightly in the specifics from the original text. The alterations and omissions say so much about the nature of the work the chronicler is attempting to produce, the ways in which their perception of historical events is already being obfuscated and editorialised, its beautifully Imperial. Bravo!

I dont know how canon-compliant this is, but I like to think of the Minotaur chapter being less interested in protecting any ideals that aligned them with the hexarchy, and more just pragmatically-minded thugs taking the side that had served them well in previous centuries, and folding as soon as it became clear they had bet on the wrong horse.

This is why I love this channel above all other loretubers. It's simply not a recounting of events, nor reading from the wiki, it's steeped in the setting and has actual character to it. This is some labored acolyte recounting the tales of this Grim Dark future - they tell it as it should be told, a tragedy continuing to unfold until its seemingly inevitable end. A sadness of what was and what could've been, and a fear of what is yet to come.

I hope Terra was somewhat reinvigorated and restored after this disaster. I’d love to hear of old, tunes rotten Hives being demolished and new oceans and forests being grown (so to speak). The atmosphere cleaned. It would be cool if the authors wrote the lore to reflect Terra’s condition being relective of the state of the Imperium. So like how it was improving after the Unification Wars but got over grown, over populated, and neglected after the Heresy. Now, after once again being devastated, being renewed by the Returning Son of the Emperor.

There is something to say of a fire. It cleanses all it touches. Maybe there is room now to grow and rebuild on Terra. Doubtful, but possible.
@textualarc85344 жыл бұрын
I can see where you are coming from, but terra is an ecumenopolis, the whole planet is nothing but metal from a thousand other worlds. Oceans of water are already delivered regularly only to be drunk by the populace. It is simply not an environment I would believe capable of self sufficient life ever again outside of cultivated gardens in the palace. Thematically a rejuvenated and life bearing terra would be imo the final statement of intent to make 40k into a nicely marketable space fantasy, and not the surreal grimdark we have all come to love. Itd be end-times tier off point. Nice thought, but wholly inappropriate.

I will have it stated that all Gulliuman really did, was place the traitor High Lords on chair and give them some rope. They tied the rope to a tree, braded the noose, slipped it over their necks and leaped to the ground all on their own. Revealing that the High Lords were not just dumber than a Primarch, but probably not smarter than the average Hiver, if not less so. Since even they know, no one truly powerful ever really trusts. Though I will say Gulliuman ever the noble man, did show mercy on traitors. At the height of their imaged power, he gave them a relatively quick if not necessarily painless death. The other loyal Primarch's or myself, would not have been so kind. I would have placed them on a hulk and dropped them into Warp unprotected, they deserver no less. But then I am not the gene son of the EoM.

I assume Guilliman didn't plan out the whole thing, but suspected treachery and accounted for it. Putting agents and allies in place, such that if a coup occurred, they would be in a position to thwart it. If nothing else, the Assassins are a good tool of cleaning up such messes, and removing problems before they get too big. It's their job, after all.

Guilliman walked them right into that trap. Honestly the ego of the high lords that the personal bodyguard of the Emperor would screw over one of his sons for power is mind boggling. This record offers another glimpse at the cunning of the heretic, in all their foulness and heinousness, have we as a species become so blinded by our own ignorance that we would dare to question the avenging son of our beloved saviour? He who will lift us from depths of ruin, He who has allowed us the gift of his protection, my thoughts are filled with dread, dreaded thoughts of disgusting heretics within our blessed imperium that wish to destroy us from within, they will never succeed. They may try, but we walk in the light of he upon the blessed throne, while they cower in the depravity of darkness. May the Lord Regent, and his father, forgive us. Ave imperator.
