In toriyama's original story, every technique is useless. Genkidama failed 2/3, tri-beam never did more than slow a guy down at best, fusions were wasted every time, special beam canon only worked the first time, and the suicide explosion technique is consistently the most ineffective move despite being the most powerful thing anyone can do, except genki dama.

To be fair. The special Beam Cannon has a 100% kill rate, if you only count the times Toriyama wrote for it. Toriyama has only used it twice and in both times it was has a finishing move, the first time against Raditz and in super hero with Cell max, both of which endeed up dead. Everytime the attack is shown and it fails has all been anime only scenes which Toriyama never wrote to begin with.

According to the Dragon Ball Fandom, Cell used it against Piccolo in his fight at Ginger Town, only to have it deflected, which does count as getting hit by it. And later on, Gohan also tanks a special beam cannon from the Cell JRs. As well as this, Cell tanked a special beam cannon from Piccolo when he was in the beam struggle with Gohan. Gotta pay attention to these tiny details :D

What's funny is that in OG Dragon Ball kamehameha was never introduced as an actual attack. Goku just saw as a kid that he can use it that way and instinctively made it his signature move. It is stated that it's the turtle hermit's "signature move" but nobody mentions it as an actual attack. It is always depicted as a blast because that's what it is, just a huge beam that can blast away whatever you aim at. It's a great way to punch a hole through a target but very inefficient as an overall attack compared to something like shooting small energy beams rapidly or even kienzan because it's faster to charge up and throw

When Goku was a kid his kamehameha did finish minor opponents. In the DBZ movies, Goku finished off 2 Garlic Jr's minions with it (I think it was Ginger and Cinnamon, but whatever), and yeah, Cooler himself (before turning metal), and then Broly with Gohan and Goten (in Broly's second coming)...which isn't a great body count tbh

This also applies to forms as well. People in this fandom act like if a move or form didn't finish the job it's ass. (Ex: Ssj3, Vegito, the final flash.) This initially started as a joke, but the fandom also has a habit of turning things that started as jokes into actual "criticism" (ex: Goku being a bad dad and being dumb, although Super really made him that way.) Something like the final flash was liked because it was Vegeta's last desperate attempt and actually made Cell, who was smug the entire time, be scared for a second. Ssj3, while not catching a win is the embodiment of going above your limits and it's not like it didn't do anything, Gotenks was even w/ Super Buu and Goku was pressing fat Buu. I used to roll my eyes when ppl called the db fanbase dumb but now I'm hoping ppl clown on them more

He apparently doesn't know what meditation is in Superhero, was surprised when Vegeta brought up the idea of Frieza coming back to kill them (lmao,) was willing to spare Frieza even after Frieza tried to kill for like the umpteenth time(even though Z Goku was willing to put Frieza down, he said he would and did so in the future timeline). This is one of the things that makes Dragonball and Z stand out and why its so remembered and loved, despite the haters. Too many people who are pretentious and try to look for heavy-handed themes, really overlook Toriyama's greatest narrative ability: His fights tell a story. Almost all his fights until maybe the Buu Saga, showcases the character's personality in conflict with each other. Its not about dreams or ideals or anything uttery profound, but we get a true hard look at each character with the way they fight and react to each other as the conflict progresses. We learn about the characters through their fights without the story needing to explain or narrate these aspects and that's what makes Dragonball so great when it comes to its battle scenes.

It's not canon, but Goku did defeat Lucifer with a Kamehameha in Sleeping Princess In Devil's Castle. Also by villains not dying from a kamehameha it gives viewers a sense of that villain’s power. This kind of thing is done specifically in One Piece when Luffy uses gear 4th ,that eliminated Doflamingo in 1 punch, against Big Mom’s son Cracker, who he not only has to actually fight but also has to think outside the box (soaking his biscuits in liquid then eating them) in order to beat him.

just so you know that the kamehameha from kaioken X20 goku was at the very very least at a power level of 132M which explains why freezer got burned even after focusing all his power to negate that beam it wasn't enough and that is why he got frustrated yet scared of goku's potential and unbreakable bravery to stand up always against anything , freezer was at 60 million and the kamehameha was at least 132million if it wasn't a super kamehameha that is because it burned him badly even after trying to negate it with his best yet keeping his play of just using one hand instead of telling how he condensed his ki on that hand , if you didn't know then know that a kamehameha has a multiplier of 2.2 and kaioken times 20 does give a multiplier of 20 and goku had a power level of 3 million so if it was a normal kamehameha of 2.2 not a super kamehameha of 4.4 with his kaioken then freezer would die easily incase he didn't block but his fear saved him to block the attack yet still it burned him.
