@@jpraise6771 you've obviously not watched dragon ball z, Goku's path to power and his accepting of his saiyan nature was the peak of his character development Goku going from refusing to being a saiyan, to "I'm a saiyan! From earth!", to "I AM THE SUPER SAIYAN, SON GOKU" is obvious character progression for a flat character. The Goku bad dad argument is ass as well he actively says that Gohan can study all he wants and misunderstanding your son isn't a sign of a bad dad either, in fact blame Gohan for not telling Goku that. Piccolo and Vegeta obviously have character development, and have peak moments as a side affect of that said development. As for the world building, go watch one piece for peak world building. Sure DB doesn't have the best world building in the world, in all of fucking anime, but I personally didn't find it too bad, then again this is your opinion so eh, doesn't matter to me.

There is also a Large Planet lvl calc for the DB earth on reddit which I generally think makes sense. It's based on the statement in the Manga that Roshi's Island is 10,000km away made by Krillin or Yamcha I think and also the statement by Mercenary Tao that The Red Ribbon Army HQ and Korin's Sanctuary are 2,300km appart, which is also stated by the narrator Anyway, I always knew that the Dr Slump statement was bs and I'm glad that someone finally went over it.

Yeah it’s an issue when it comes to many comedy series. People want to power scale stuff that has no consistency and call it stuff like “toon force”. It’s absolutely ridiculous and the point of these shows with slapstick humor is to get a laugh, not to be power scaled

The fanbase generally doesn't understand how the power scaling works in the series anyway. They ignore things like the fundamentals Goku learned in the original series and all the statements and very specific and direct plot points about how raw strength isn't everything, and instead they just obsess over raw numbers and multipliers as if Toriyama was just constantly doing the math for every single moment of every single fight in the series to determine the outcomes of everything. There are specific instances in which he does do some math to align things with the plotline of the time, but it's not an overarching thing and it's not as wide sweeping as many people in the fanbase would have you believe. For instance, Toriyama does state in an interview that Super Saiyan is a 50 times multiplier... When Goku uses it the first time on Namek. He never says anything anywhere about every single usage of the SSJ1 form being a 50 times multiplier, and there's multiple instances of this clearly not being the case throughout the series. There's instances of characters clearly being more or less than 50 times stronger, and other instances in which their SSJ1 and SSJ2 forms are outright stated to be pretty close to identical. The whole point of power levels getting introduced when Raditz showed up at the beginning of Z was for Raditz and a number of characters after him to have smug confidence in their certain victory due to their bigger number, only to have that preconceived notion shattered. Quite literally the first fight in Z is Raditz with his higher power level getting defeated by Goku and Piccolo working together and outsmarting him. It's made painfully clear that neither one of them had the strength to beat him alone, but through teamwork they are able to overcome his raw power. There's other things that get around sheer power as well such as characters having weaknesses that can be exploited (For example, for most Saiyans if they haven't trained to avoid it, their tail is a weakness that can be used to render them nearly powerless), different power sets that ignore power level entirely such as magic and technology, etc. There is a certain degree of underlying truth to some of the ideas the fanbase has about power level, but they generally stopped getting tracked after the Cell saga for a reason. They were introduced to be a preconceived notion to shatter, and were generally phased out as soon as Toriyama was done fulfilling that purpose thoroughly. Cell himself is basically the living embodiment of everything the group had been through up to that point, power level included, and Gohan alone was able to surpass him while barely even able to move and with one hand much like how his father once used only one hand to defeat Demon King Piccolo. Even the fight between Super Saiyan Goku and Full Power Freeza on Namek is a perfect outline of exactly how much more important core balance is than raw numbers. Freeza is a character that never trained a day in his life. Raw power is the only thing he has, the only thing that allows him to bully everyone he comes across. When Goku achieves Super Saiyan and Freeza raises himself to full power, the difference between them in regards to raw power level isn't actually all that different. Goku's power level is only a little bit higher than Freeza's, relatively speaking. Yet, Goku still has very little difficulty in overpowering Freeza and his bigger concern is finding a way off the planet in time. He drops the disrespect on Freeza hardcore, looking down on him and treating him as a minor nuisance. He warns him about how beating him is hopeless and he should rethink his ways, and in general just really hammers in how superior he is in that moment, something that enrages Freeza immensely. The reason for this massive gap between the two of them is because Goku isn't just all about raw power. He's a grandmaster with fantastic inner balance. He's not only a seasoned martial artist with insane battle skills and smarts, but even despite the fact that SSJ is a rage based transformation he's actually mastered his inner mentality to the point that he's generally calm and in control of himself rather than going berserk. The power of transformations hasn't yet completely gone to his head and inflated his ego to the point of shattering his balance, and so the gap between him and Freeza who has nothing but power is immense despite the raw numbers being so close to the same. It's something that almost everyone in the fanbase overlooks because of this obsession with raw power levels they're consumed with. Even when characters continually point out how raw power isn't everything and it gets brought up over and over and over how inner balance is more important even recently in Super, everyone still keeps chanting the religion of power is everything. It's almost maddening. The whole "Dragon Ball fans don't even watch their own show" meme really does feel true when you watch the power scaling side of the community at work.

I agree with most of your points within the video but I do have one statement on one of your point's. Using Akira Toriyama interview statements must always (in my opinion) be taken with a grain of salt. No disrespect to him or his work but he did have a consistent issue with forgetting a lot of big details in his own stories. He had forgotten ssj2 and the saiyans having tails or being great apes. I am not saying that the character who said the earth statement is 100% right. What I am saying is that it is totally in the realm of possibility (though not likely) that Toriyama could have intended that and just forgot.

I never heard someone talking about this though. The scalling is usually with statements. Cell kamehameha was said to be able to destroy a solar system. While if Moro exploded he would destroy the whole universe 7, while goku at that time had more ki and strengh than him. This is db real scalling, the universe is really like glass to them. And char like krillin in cell saga could easily destroy planets because they were strongger than final form frieza (and the first form could easily destroy a planet). But the video is really interesting, I never thought about if the db earth was the same as ours.

I would actually very much argue Doctor Slump isn't directly canon to Dragon Ball. It's only canon in a "Don't think about it too hard how this fits together" sort of way.

A random quote from a random character from a show that isn’t dragon ball where they get the distance from earth to Jupiter wrong being used to claim that these characters are 10s of thousands of times stronger than the story suggests.

I like using it as a means of seeing how far it can go just because it's funny I don't use it for anything, but it gives me a lot to think about and to ask, what if I did put these here, how would it change everything for the world building I made? The answer is both a lot and not at all. It changes a lot as now I have what I call Primordial Celestial Bodies and Contemporary Celestial Bodies, some of the power changes are for those who live on the ladder, like level of power for it and it gives a reason to have a vastly better and much more up to date tech for reading such things when it comes to the present era of the story. But for those at the time or love of such a location, they have the tech based around that level and the power readers read that level of it. Now it makes it nearly wrong when it comes to vastly weaker beings around a BP of 5 to 0.00001 as it does an automatic scale reading and rounds the level to be exponential than not. Which is why the readers of the CCB are infinitely more accurate to the BP than not. It is still exponential, but not to a degree of trillions (slight over exaggeration) when going up a couple points. This is for my comic that is a WIP. A love letter to DB, Halo and Hero works!

Just so people know if Earth wqs 100,000 times bigger with the same composition and the same weight per cubic meter as our real one it would collaspe into a black hole within 5 minuted. This is becuase stars on average are less weight per cubic inch that smaller celestial bodies. The gravity of an earth like planet with a circumference of 4,000,000,000 miles would be 2.426 x10^30 m/s^2.

Power scaling and power levels really don't make any sense when you break it down. I think that the introduction of power levels was a pretty bad move over all. Roshi had a power level of 139 when he destroyed the moon. Farmer with shotgun had a power level of 5. So if we do the math roshi is (139/5=)27.8 times stronger than farmer with shotgun Radius of moon is 1080 miles. Divide that by 27.8 to get ~38.8 Thus farmer with shotgun should be able to destroy something with a radius of about 38.8 miles.

I have been seeing people saying the likes of Raditz or Nappa could've destroyed the Earth because Frieza and King Cold say Earth is a "small planet", which they somehow take to mean that you _don't_ need a power level of 10,000 to blow it up.

From what we gather, it's a place that is never seen in Dragon Ball on the other side of the world. Where ththey don't use Zeni, but Yen. Also, like Dr. SLUMP, Tokunoshin Omori comes from a place that has surnames. A thing that besides Goku, no one has in the Dragon Ball world. Where would it be?

the earth physically couldnt be the size of the sun in real world, it is absolutely impossible, the entire thing would fall apart or be a sun itself. also the distance to venus being so low while both are so huge would mean they would almost instantly fall into each other. gravity laws, our laws, wouldnt make sense, so we also couldnt reach any power level conclusions from it.
