I am from Assam, my mum would tell us stories of Lachit Borphukan even before we joined school, as a toddler I was under the impression that he was a God since my mum would tell us stories from Puranas & Itihasas too. Thanks for highlighting stories from NE. Please also make content on how casteism is more prominent in rest of India which were occupied by Mughals & British for long periods. In fact I was in shock when I first interacted with people from Bihar & North in college who discussed their & others caste. Same when I was in South for job, there too people talk of their caste. I feel imperialism had a major role to play in converting Varna to the caste system & make it all about ones birth. There were bhakti movements by likes of Sankardev, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in NE & East which eradicated any form of remnants of casteism amongst its practitioners. But bhakti movements throughout rest of India failed to do so.

Excellent. As usual the video is full off extraordinary information. I have visited Nalanda University in 2009, because of its historical and cultural significance. As you mention in the video I do not remember reading much about Assam (of its natural beauty or culture or traditions or spiritual places). This video strengthens my desire to visit Assam in my next visit to India.

Histories have always been written by and from the point of view of the victorious. It takes a lot of genuine research and wisdom to understand true history. Much of the Indian History has been written by the Westerners and later by western educated Indians. The question that we must further ask is how can Nalanda university be called a Buddhist university when it had only around 54 000 scriptures put together from all Buddhist traditions. While Nalanda itself had 9 million books which were about sanatan dharma which included all aspects of life, which Buddhism usually doesn’t address because it only deals with metaphysical and spiritual aspects of life. So Buddhist studies was only a small section of Nalanda University. Remaining was all about sanatan dharma which Buddhist way of life was part of. So if go by the content of the books that was taught in Nalanda university it should be called as Sanatani university instead of Buddhist university. But I guess so called historians wanted to twist history and truth again.

Gautama is NOT the Buddha or Bodhisatva referred to as the 9th Avatar of Vishnu. Gautama was born in Lumbini in the Himalayan foothills... The Vishnu Avatar Buddha or Bodhisatva was born to the east in Mithila (Nepal/Bihar perhaps around Janakpur)... The Vishnu avatar Buddha is said to be born in a Brahmin kula... Gautama Buddha was ofc as you know a Prince... Still a very precious little is known about this person or avatar... Historical accounts, hagiographies or Ithihasic references do not exist... Interestingly enough, some traditions in the South consider Balarama instead of Buddha in the Vishnu Dashavatar.

Kudos to you for an amazing presentation...as always. 2:00 you state the political conquests of Nalanda in earlier times alongside the conquest of khiji. The difference between the two needs to be highlighted again and again. There are many who try to equate the two and provide arguments that conquest and destruction is the very nature of humans and hence the conquest and destruction of the western barbarians is acceptable. It is natural. Political conquests largely does not harm common civilians and destroy places of workship and education etc. barring some collateral damage in certain cases. A close friend (Tamilian) forcefully equated the Shaiva-Vaihnava fights and the conquest of Odisha king Kapilendra into far south same as that of the muslim conquests and destruction. He is also of the opinion that Temples in India were like forts and hence their destruction by muslim invaders was legit.

so the word "kanai" is a cute affectionate name the locals of Assam use to call Lord Krishna, "boroxi boa" means using fishing rod to catch fish. it is believed that after the events of "Rukmini haran" . on the way back to dwarika, Lord krishna's horses fell tired in the northern part of Pragjyotishpur ( present Guwahati ). so he let them rest and to pass time, sat on a rock and started fishing. That's the "kanai boroxi boa xil" ( the rock where lord krishna did fishing ). The place where the horses stood still, there's a 329 years temple called "Ashwaklanta Devalaya" (tired horses).
