The Hidden Life and Tragic Ending of Mother Maybelle Carter.
Maybelle Carter was an American singer, musician, and member of the iconic country music group, The Carter Family. Born on May 10, 1909, in Virginia, USA, Maybelle was instrumental in creating the signature sound of the Carter Family with her unique style of guitar playing known as the "Carter scratch." Her distinctive playing style and soulful vocals, combined with the harmonies of her family members, created a new genre of music that revolutionized the country music industry. Maybelle's influence and impact on the music world continue to be felt today, and she is widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. She passed away on October 23, 1978, but her legacy lives on through her music and the generations of musicians she has inspired.

These types of titles always piss me off. Why can’t we make videos that respectfully cover their legacy without painting them as a tragic figure in the title

I'll go along with that. It is kinda poorly described

THIS. It’s disrespectful to the person and the entire audience. I left a comment saying the same. He can easily change the title.

I’m late to the party but I couldn’t agree more with you. He put the same title on his video about Roy Clark 🙄

It's complete clickbait. I always give a thumb down and it does hurt their channel.

Yes, Mother Maybelle is indeed a true icon, and the Carter family can justifiably claim to be the originators of their unique country music style. They proved that it didn't take electronic wizardry to make good recordings.

I was fortunate to see Mother Maybelle and her daughters with Johnny Cash at Mississippi State University in 1968. They played in the Animal Husbandry Service Building, a.k.a, "The Cow Barn," and put on a memorable performance despite the less than optimal setting. Carl Perkins was also on the card.

What a terrible title. Totally unnecessary. You did a decent job in the video, I don’t know why you felt you had to title it like that. Sounds like she lived a pretty good life. And then she died - like everyone. I don’t think there’s much tragedy there. Please change your title. This is a decent biography otherwise

Very interesting video, but a ludicrously misleading title. Hidden life - what hidden life? Tragic ending - well sad certainly, and no doubt tragic to her nearest and dearest but hardly unique and off epic proportions.

mother maybelle was an good hillbilly singer and musician. she just happened to be the first to be recorded. she could hardly write her name let alone songs. the songs that we all enjoy were dug up from many sources by A.P. Carter. who, though barely educated, was one hell of a music scholar and a very unusual man in terms of backwoods character. The Carter legend was largely created by this man whose diligence brought us back to our scotch /irish/english folk roots so well that america will never completely tire of his work.

She did not have a hidden life, and the only tragic thing is that she died, bad title.
